Would like to run 13.5 @ ~105 1/4 mile

I have about $1200 to spend.

How does racing beat turbo back, FCD, intake, fuel pump, GSL-SE injectors, and a S-AFC (or equivelent(sp)) sound?

Any advice on similar setups will be nice. This should be good for 250+ crank HP.

Borrow someones stock FD

Seriosly though, those mods and maybe a set of drag radials....if everything goes perfectly you should be very close to that.

no way $1200's gonna get you all that.. well unless you buy the exhaust used or something..

anyway, I'd lose the intake. The exhaust alone will put you over 11 psi on a good s4. Boost levels above that on the stock turbo can be unsafe even if you have the fuel.

However, if you really port your wastegate, you might be able to manage a full exhaust and intake with safe boost levels..

good luck.

you can't get all that stuff for $1200, unless it's used. PLUS the Racing Beat (while it IS the best) is on a fairly large backorder right now.

Oooh.. Cleveland.. when I'm back in town I'll have to look you up.

so my estimate was slightly off

RB turbo-back ... $750
fuel pump........... $100
intake................. $150
S-AFC.................. $300
FCD..................... $80
injectors.............. $100

So almost 1500.... hmm

Well how do those mods sound together at least?? Is it adequate fuel mods for the gain in power?

Racing beat is only at -14 right now .. about a 3 week wait. Not bad considering its the best.

Your looking at the same basic setup I have in mind. The fuel should be good with that. Controlling the boost will be the problem. Porting the wastegate will be a good idea. The thing you have forgotten unless you already have them are gauges. Very important to know how much boost you are running and how rich or lean. I've got everything you are looking at getting except the s-afc and the catback. Once I get my gauges in and see what levels I am running I will go from there. With my tires I hope for a low 14 now. If I get that I will be very happy.

Thanks, Ryde or die

I would be real happy with a 14.0

I like the RB turbo back. Its quiet and includes downpipe, midpipe, catback all for a good price (under $800).

As for the gauges, I forgot to mention them.

A boost gauge is a definate, esp. since the FCD disables the stock gauge. Also I plan on getting an A/F gauge for now, and hopefully be able to get an EGT gauge later (they are expensive)

not my choice, but "NOS" is the cheapest way to go fast.

ps: I like the direction you are taking

Hey you forgot labor, shipping, tax =)... Unless you want to install the RB full turbo back exaust by yourself then forget about the labor. I have the RB system in my TII and i can tell you that the quality of steel they use is very good and heavy.

Ohhh and with the SE injectors you probably want to send them out to RC to have cleaned and calibrated. That is over 50 bucks for the pair. You want to do this to make sure its not leaking.

The rest of the parts you can probably do yourself installation.

GOing fast isnt going to be cheap. Good luck...

Am I getting in over my head thinking I can install an exhaust system myself?

Putting the exaust system on yourself is a cake walk .. the hardest part is getting a jack or a buddy to hold up the back while you bolt it up front. Otherwise .. prolly the easiet mod you can do for such a great power gain. If it takes you more than 1.5 Hrs MAX your handy. Sometimes the stock exaust is a bitch to break the bolts loose, soak them good the nite before & a air gun will help. But, DON"T use a air gun if the bolts are in really bad shape .. you will strip them to ****.

Bolts ... Nuts you know what I mean. Same only different.

instead of the RB turbo back i used a thunderfabrications 3" DP to cat-back pipe and an N1. intake, G-force. NO FCD and ran 14.0 all day long. to run efficiently run 13.5's your gonna have to probaly uopgrade your stock turbo. You could do it. But not consistantly in warm weather. That's a great start though.

$150 for an intake...scrap that idea. Get an adapter plate and a cone filter. That'll free up some other cash for more fun things.

I don't think you'll need to upgrade your injectors yet, either. A better pump, rewired, with an S-AFC should be enough fuel for the 275hp range you will be expecting. My car has a totally stock fuel system and runs 14.12 in the quarter...whether or not it'll last is another issue, but an S-AFC and pump would be all I'd need to upgrade right now.

Go with a series 5 turbo!

A friend of mine was running low 13s on a 10th anniversary RX7. The ONLY mods he had were a S5 turbo, cone intake, and a full exhaust (including an N1). He eventually blew his engine, but he was running damn fast for only $700. From my experience, the N1 flows the BEST for all catback systems. Also, you can have a muffler shop make you a downpipe and midpipe for $50. There is no need to purchase the RB full exhaust.

So, my recomendations:
S5 turbo
4X 550cc injectors (off of an S5 TII)
larger fuel pump (an FD fuel pump would work very nicely for this setup)
cone intake (do not pay any more than $50)
downpipe/midpipe (made by an exhaust shop-do not pay more than $70)
cat-back (The N1 flows the best, but it is a little pricey and loud. Whatever catback you get, just be sure it is a single side exit catback, as it flows better than dual and weighs less)

Best of luck to you,
Kris

PS-My friend is an incredibly good driver, so those mods should easily put you in the low 14s, and with practice (the cheapest mod) you can break into the 13s.

S4 TIIs have 4x550 injectors, so you shouldn't have to replace them.

I essentially have that setup on my FC along with a large street port and minus the S-AFC. I havent run it at the track, but Id guesstimate its runs mid to high 13's, based on cars its beaten.
