My Dove Grey Ultrasuede interior

Finally got done with it - what a job. But it was worthwhile.

Color scheme stolen from a 2003 Lambo Murcielago - hey why not?

Nice work!

(Ahem, you created a seperate thread for the rear bins instead of posting a reply).

j/k It looks really good. You're done with the interior when are you doing the exterior?

Yeah, my computer skills really suck. Good thing I can operate a sewing machine.

How do you post a big picture here without having to attach it?

Hmmm, maybe I can create a link to my album - lemee work on it........

Not my kind of thing, but BIG kodos to Ron for having an idea and making it happen!

Looks like a pain to keep clean though (of course I always drive with the windows down so maybe that's why my car is always dirty)

Thanks! I kind of think of it as "Italian Rice".

Ultrasuede (Alcantara is the European brand name) is really pretty easy to keep clean, it's 100% polyester so it does not pick up any stains. I remember I was telling this to my wife one night after I got done (I locked her out of my shop for a week) and she said "Oh yeah? How about red wine?

So I took a sample of WHITE Ultrasuede and put a few drops of a 1987 Cabernet on (drank the rest of course..) it and let it dry overnight. It came out the next day with Dawn, a little light scubbing and some warm water.

The Dove Grey is actually a little darker than it looks in the pix due to the flash.

It does give the interior a lot more "luxe" and is more comfortable since it breathes. It's literally impossible to wear it out since it withstans 200,000 double rubs on a Wyzenbeek machine. (don't ask)

Next up: Ultrasuede Fuzzy Dice!

Ron did you replace the black leather with black Ultrasuede? I can't tell from the pix.

Only on the center sections of the seat. The rest of it was in good condition, so I left it.

I think someone counted 30 individual pieces that need to be fabricated for the entire seat, and I would rather be able to slide and out easily. It took me a full day to do each seat from beginning to end.

I like the idea, and you did a helluve job on it as far as I can tell from the pics. But the color wouldn't have been my first choice. I know you said it's actually darker, but I would've gone with either white, or a darker grey (almost like the R1 suede). But hey to each his own. BTW, is pimpin easy? Cus I hear pimpin ain't easy.

I suggest you call a local upholstery shop. Unless you're a business, that's your only option. It will be around $100/yd (54" bolt).

The adhesive to use is spray adhesive - any upholstery shop has that.
