GXL W/ blown engine

Hey, I found a great deal on a 1987 GXL w/ blown motor, I was thinking about dropping in a TII engine if its not to hard, what do you guys think ? I'm sorry I don't have time to search I have to head out right now to look at the car, also, anyone know where I can find T2 engines and a place in the NE that would do the install ? Thanks.

You would need more then just the engine to do the N/A -TII conversion. I'd do some more research. If you are going to get a TII engine, get a j-spec. There is a thread of where you can get them, though, I recommend Nippon Motors.

Stuff you would need: (I think this is everything)
TII engine complete, with all sensors, throttle body, intercooler, etc.
TII engine wiring harness
TII main dash harness
TII ECU
TII instrument cluster is recommended (unless you buy an aftermarket boost gauge).
TII AFM
TII turbo inlet duct TII pressure sensor
TII brake booster hose
TII fuel pump or aftermarket pump
TII fuel pump relay OR rewire for constant voltage
TII clutch slave cylinder
TII flywheel
TII clutch disk
TII pressure plate
TII throwout bearing
TII transmission with starter
TII driveshaft
TII rear differential
TII rear axles
TII halfshafts
TII downpipe/midpipe or stock precats/cat.

damn thats a lot of stuff, how much you think that all would run me ? Also, why would I need another differential and drive shaft, the GXL's arent strong enough or what ? Thanks.

I think this is going to start costing too much, I'm probably just going to get a JDM engine and drop it in or maybe a rebuild and add a 75 shot nitrous kit, intake and exhaust. Does anyone know the stock numbers on a 87 GXL ? Thanks.

Your 87 will have 140 hp. The turbo swap really isnt worth it in my opinion unless the car you are doing it on is in like perfect condtion to begin with. You should just rebuild it and streetport it and the exhaust and such then if you really wanted to is get nitrous like you said.

A JDM motor is not an option either. No NA's were sold in JAPAN. Your best bet is a rebuild from one of the Remanufacturers:
PINEAPPLE RACING, Atkins, FC3S.org, Hayes, Mazdatrix, Revoultion Rotary Etc. Etc.

I have a 86 GXL engine, runs good decent compression 400.00 + shipping
