OK, I'll be the first sucker, just ordered it from www.radiatorexpress.com.

It's a 2 row. I'll report back next week on my impressions. It looks like a "CSF Racing Radiator", whatever that is. BTW, it comes with a 2 year warranty so what the hell?

I've always thought aluminum rads were WAY to expensive.

Go to the site, but it ain't much. I'll take some pics and post my impressions next week. I'm pretty damn picky about welds and quality control. If it isn't excellent it goes back ASAP, 'cause there is tons of crap out there.
Although after having done a little research, CSF looks like a pretty sizeable manufacturer.

Yep, you're right. My bad. Oh well, maybe that's why the great price? I guess the proof will be to see how well it fits, and what my temps are. I've got sensors at the leading edge plugs for rotor head temp, which is really the only important thing. I doubt if I'll see a change, and since I'm running 185F at cruise that's where I want to be anyway.

In my collective wisdom about radiators (which is zero) I have always felt that higher ram pressure (aka higher speed) was needed to make a 2 row work, and that at lower speeds a 1 row was actually more efficient.
Since my car is my daily driver, the 1 row may actually cool better?

Experts chime in..........and please, no speculators - it's getting old........

looks like they added some new radiators for the FD....
when I called them a few months back they said all they had was an all metal radiator of copper/brass construction, and pretty heavy

I'll be interested to see how it turns out....I wimped out and went with the sure thing, a PWR from the RX-7 store....very nice, but pricey

 

I remember your post, but didn't you say it weighed something like 27 lbs.?

The aluminum was not available until November and was a 1 row so I went with the copper and brass 2 row for $175.00.

OEM is a 1 row with the ridiculous plastic end tanks that finally failed after almost 10 years...
It weighed 2 lbs. more than stock, 13 lbs. vs. 11lbs. Fit great, except I had to cap off two extra pipes on the bottom - no big deal. The best thing: it has a lifetime warranty against defects.
Made by CSF, Cooling Systems and Flexibles - of Asian origin, would not be surprised if it was made in China.
Fit and finish was excellent. CSF is a huge manufacturer.

A bargain in the world of FD3S aftermarket radiators, considering some go for $1K..........

that is a great price, I paid like $485 for mine....oh well, ithe PWR is a nice piece and it hauls the temps down very well after a hard run, cooling is so huge on this car that I wanted to go with the sure thing

did you change out your upper and lower radiotor hoses and turbo cooling lines while you were in there? mine were shot

 

Wow $175 radiator, thats real cheap.

 

Oh yeah - I changed every single one of the coolant hoses last year. I don't think you can go wrong putting money into cooling mods - I know you'll be happy with the PWR - it's really a quality piece. Since mine is just a toy with minimal mods I alway go for the cheap stuff anyway.
