A couple of people have asked if an Efini key will work in a FC... so here you go:

First the standard Efini Key is longer and a touch thicker than the pre 92 keys, So although you could just have the standard Key cut, it will stick out further than the stock or dealer key.


You may want to get a new stock key cut from the cars key number so that when you take the modified Efini key to the locksmith he has a nice new clean cut to work from.

so the next step, once you have the Efini key and a good condition original or dealer cut key is to trim the Efini key down to the right length. I used a bench grinder, but you could use a bolt cutter and file afterwards as well.

Use your original or new dealer cut key as the length and tip angle reference and trim/grind/modify the length of the Efini key to right length. When done it will look like this:


Then take it to your local locksmith and have it cut. Most Mazda dealers hand held key cutter will not hold the modified Efini key correctly, so a lock smith is the best bet.


Then try it in your FC. You'll notice the cut Efini key is very snug to insert as again the Efini key is just slightly thicker, but it will lossen within a few weeks.

If it works, its Miller time, your done.

 

How much HP is an Efini key worth?!

Actually the only reason that I did it was because I couldn't find any offical Mazda Black head key blanks anywhere in my area and the aftermarket ones all looked like crap with cheap or no plastic.

 

I am gonna try this, I'll post new dyno numbers (looking for some serious gains)

 

Man, dont stop there, with further tuning of a Efini logo on the rear you can get 350 more HP!!!!!
