Well just got home from picking the car up down the coast.

What a difference!

The car is a LOT more responsive, a little harder to get off the line quickly

Cannot roll and floor it in first otherwise wheelspin & rev limit, same with change from 1st to second

It has a little less torque down low, not hugely noticable, but the way the car revs now is very noticable, same with the throaty induction it now has

Quite a lot of people have messaged me asking about costs etc, even thought its na, you'd want to have a spare 20k or so for the complete conversion

Here are a couple of pics of the new setup

haha .. I've got those same batteries ... they're awesome ... that quite the litte monster of a turbo there. What do you think your HP numbers will be with that? So lets see if you can actually race with this or not ... I'm betting you won't even move cause all your tires will be doing is spinning.

How do you plan on getting 3 exhaust ports into 2 turbine housing inlets?

That is insane. I am really curious as to the horsepower expectations with the turbo, and also really wanting to see videos and pictures of the car after the turbo is in there.

Thanks for the comments guys

have u changed the rear end yet? still stock S3

How do you plan on getting 3 exhaust ports into 2 turbine housing inlets? Custom exhaust manifold.

So am I, it should see 400+ at moderately low boost (10 psi). For the time being I will be running the na 2.5" exhaust, which will restrict the hp a bit. Will be going 3" after I get back from a business trip to China. I'll get some pics up.

Thanks mate. Will do, not sure if I'll get a chance to get a vid of it being dyno'd first up.
Here's a dyno vid of it na. It did a best of 295rwhp on a dyno dynamics here (read 15% lower than dynojet) this particular day it was 104f and around 80% humidity, not the best for top hp.

Missed your questions..

At this stage just planning on lowish boost, until I get used to it. It should put out 400+ though. I've been in a RX3 with 370rwhp & a 400+hp Series 6 and they were bloody quick, this should be around the same given the weight differences.

Yeah.. its going to be a handful, open diff with 7" wheels isn't the best combo, I'm working on it though.

Yes

I'll be going back to the stock 20B intake as it will easily make the power I'm after

The ITBs went to a NA 20B in New Zealand, waiting to hear the results

you should have just kept them and made a aluminium box to go over them that would have bin bad ***.

P.S. I am glad you have changed your mind about selling it.

I am glad you decided to keep your car. Its one of the very few interesting 1st gen projects I've seen and liked. I also own a RHD 1st gen in Trinidad. I have a 20B on the ground that I was considering whether to put it in or get a HB Cosmo and slip it in there. But I am most impressed with your HP at 6psi !!! Damn, that is HOT ! Can you tell me what the turbo exh. manifold costed you and where you got it? What tranny/clutch are you using? You will really need to upgrade both your tranny & rear end soon, looking at the HP you're already making.... Can you send me pics of under the engine bay, how exactly you mounted the motor in there etc ?

G'day,

Go for it I reckon

Exhaust manifold was made by Dyson Rotary www.dysonrotary.com.au and cost $650 I think it was Australian $ (around $530 USD).

Just running a stock S2 box and a button clutch at the moment, will be upgrading to a S4/5 turbo box soon.

Not sure about the diff yet, I changed the 4.4s back to stock gears hoping it will help a bit with reliability (less torque). Still deciding what to do there..

I will dig up some photos for you. Any pics of your beast?

Andrew
