GB: RotaryExtreme FD3S Hood Damper Kit!

Yes, you read this right. FDNewbie Imports is collaborating with RotaryExtreme yet again to bring you another group buy on the super popular RotaryExtreme hood damper kit. See, at FDNewbie Imports, we're ALL about cooperation and collaboration - anything to help provide our customers with the best quality products!

Some info about the hood dampers:

"The RotaryExtreme hood damper kit enables you to open the hood without the hood rod which interferes with some parts installation and some stock mount aftermarket intercoolers. The damper kit is designed to be installed without any permanent modification to your vehicle or the hood. There is no drilling or cutting involved. The installation can be done with simple hand tools in 15 min: bolt the CNC machined brackets onto the hood hinges, replace the fender M6 bolt with the custom ball stud provided, snap the hood dampers onto the ball studs and you are done! It can be used safely with either the stock hood or an aftermarket hood because the CNC machined brackets bolt onto the stock metal hood hinges, not the hood itself.

The kit includes two dampers, two CNC machined aluminum brackets that are bolted onto the hinges of the hood, 4 ball stud accepters and 4 ball studs. Our aluminum CNC machined hinge brackets use both studs of the hood that they can be installed without worrying about the correct orientation, unlike other inferiorly designed damper kit." (Courtesy of RotaryExtreme).

My target is 10+ orders to get this GB up and running. Pricing is $150/set, SHIPPED.

Thanks!
~Ramy

Are these damers for the stock hood or aftermarket? Chuck had two different sets IIRC.

FDNewbie 10-07-06 03:23 PM

I'm sure we can do either or. Just specify which one you need.

Giampiero 10-07-06 03:24 PM

I am in............

scrubolio 10-07-06 03:53 PM

i'm most likely in, whats the deadline? does this mean RE is back?

FDNewbie 10-07-06 03:58 PM

I'll prob wait a week or so, and close it once the number slows down (prob in a week or so). If there's further interest later on, I'll see if another batch/run can be done.

And no, RE isn't back. Why do you think I'm selling them? ;)

audiobot7 10-07-06 08:37 PM

Price seemed to double since I got mine from Chuck.

ihavetwins 10-07-06 08:50 PM

yea that seems kinda hi i agree. but do they come in any other color then black ?

Juiceh 10-07-06 09:02 PM

I just did a little searching and I found the Tein FD hood dampers for alot less.. Rammy I think you may need to revise the pricing.

ihavetwins - The Tein dampers are green. :D

FDNewbie 10-07-06 09:20 PM

Re: price, Chuck lists his at $155 on his website: http://www.rotaryextreme.com/hooddamper.html

The Tein's; a quick websearch for the CHEAPEST price I could find was $138 + $16 shipping. That's $154 total. I was asking $160 SHIPPED. Nonetheless, I don't mind beating that and revising the price to $150 SHIPPED. And if we get a good number of ppl to sign up and follow through w/ a deposit, I don't mind seeing if we can drop the price even a bit more.

str8ryd 10-08-06 10:29 AM

These are AWESOME. I've had these on my car for sometime and having nothing but great things to say about them. I've used them with 2 CF aftermarket hoods so far with no problems. Great product and great price. I paid 155 + shipping, just like Ramy mentioned only a year back. Good luck with the GB.

Corusco 10-08-06 12:47 PM

I'm in as well. If there are different types, I need the aftermarket. Thanks!!!

FDNewbie 10-09-06 12:22 AM

Thanks Riz :)

artowar 10-09-06 07:04 PM

$150 sounds like a good price. I'll go in on whichever set works with Chuck's Knightsports carbon replica hood.

TRISPEEDFD3S 10-10-06 01:10 AM

The teins were not made for aftermarket hoods I believe. That is atleast What i though I've read on their site somewhere. I know the reason Chuck came out with these was because they can be applied to aftermarket hoods. Also Who the hell wants green hood struts!?

rx7twin 10-10-06 02:17 PM

JIC, yea I got it. I'm working on it. I'll get back to ya ASAP. Don't worry.

BlueRex 10-10-06 06:04 PM

Ramy, has set me up to take over the GB once we get 10 interested. I'll take information and payments once we get there.

scrubolio 10-10-06 09:08 PM

are these still gonig to be made after the GB is over?

wadejg 10-10-06 11:02 PM

Put my name in.

I just tried a set of the ones from ebay and they were just not nice pieces, for a number of reasons.

Thanks,
Justin Wade

FDNewbie 10-10-06 11:27 PM

Jason, we just hit the 10 mark ;)

Justin, you're very welcome :)

scrubolio, no they will not. Chuck of RotaryExtreme is done w/ the car scene/business. This was a special arrangement I had going w/ him; it's highly unlikely this will be offered again. In other words, you snooze...you lose ;)

Payment coming tonight! Sending pm

Noxlupus 10-12-06 08:09 AM

What's the difference between the stock and aftermarket hood? (Not the actual hoods, but the kit; is it just the dampeners?)?

ZumSpeedRX-7 10-12-06 10:09 AM

i dont know how much of a difference its gonna make but when i ordered my CF N1 hood from Chuck i also ordered hood dampers, so he made me a custom hood damper set that wasnt too harsh for the hood.
with that said, the quality of the kit looks better and more durable then any TEIN kit that i've seen. granted ive only seen the TEIN kit on a STi and a Civic, but it looks flimsier then my Rotary Extreme damper kit.

sidenote- ramy, what kind of tow hooks can you get? was it FEED? and are they strong enough to actually be used on the track?

Juiceh 10-12-06 10:36 AM

I saw an FD with the Tein dampers last week and got to play with the hood a bit. It did not seem flimsy at all. However, the brackets that bolt to the hood hinges didn't look as heavy duty as the Rotary Extreme ones. For that reason alone I would buy the Rotary Extreme kit over the Tein.

Also, the Tein green doesn't go with every color scheme. Black, however, can work with just about any color scheme.

I will send a PM and payment info tonight.

FDNewbie 10-12-06 12:34 PM

Guys, it should be of no surprise; Chuck's parts are always of the *highest* quality...

ZumspdRX-7, there are a few diff companies that make heavy duty tow hooks, but the FEED ones sure are heavy duty... They're heavy as heck too.

Depends on when we close the GB. But realistically we're looking at in 2 - 3 weeks from now. They don't take long at all to have ready.

Why I have to pay you instead of FD Newbie Imports?
Because Ramy is underpaid and overextened So Jason (aka BlueRex) helps me keep my sanity

Thanks
Giampiero,ready to pay.
Thank you

Yep, if you look at all the GBs Ramy has run, I normally handle the information and payment collection. Ramy offered to let me use his email system and paypal, but for his privacy sake (usernames and passwords) I prefer to use my own means.

Thanks
Jason
