FDNewbie,

How much interest do we need to start the GB? I need this clutch in the next month or so.

FDNewbie 08-31-07 02:23 PM

Lets see if we can hit the 5 mark, and we'll go through w/ it. Sound good?

Thanks,
~Ramy

patriick 08-31-07 02:44 PM

Ramy,

This is a PULL type clutch, right? I can't seem to find the full specs on it and some vendor sites refer to it as a PUSH type. Can you find out?

FDNewbie 08-31-07 04:42 PM

A 2 second long search of Google shows: http://www.exedy.com.au/clutch/hyperdD-Core.htm. First link too.

Google is your friend ;)

~Ramy

patriick 08-31-07 06:18 PM

Glad you found it, congrats. Since when is it a hassle for a vendor to answer a question?

FDNewbie 08-31-07 06:50 PM

Relax man. No need to be so edgy. I was merely poking fun (in a friendly way) that you overlooked the simplest source...Exedy hehe. Since when were vendors not allowed to joke around? :p: Either way, sorry if it rubbed ya the wrong way (tone is very hard to read online).

Oh and re: what you read on some sites, vendors (esp. large ones that don't specialize in specific cars) tend to copy/paste generic descriptions. That's why some listed it as a push-type, when in fact for the FD it's a pull-type.

johgar 08-31-07 08:00 PM

So, how much will it be? What will be included? WHat else do I need beside the counterweight? Do I still need to get flywheel?

oh ok, no problem then. That spec sheet wasn't on the US Exedy site, so I figured I'd just ask you instead... (why do Austrailians get spec sheets on their site and we don't? lol)

Anyway, hopefully we'll get a 5th person sooner than later. I'm anxious to try out this clutch!!

FDNewbie 08-31-07 08:11 PM

Daniels, I'd like at least 5 ppl so I can actually try and negotiate a better price, b/c the clutch isn't cheap, and I'm already getting bottom dollar for it. Oh and yes, you need the OEM counterweight. The clutch comes w/ it's own flywheel.

As for what else you need, I STRONGLY suggest you take a look at the recommendations here: http://www.fdnewbieimports.com/Backup/product.php?n=43 and get those parts as well - ESPECIALLY the clutch fork. You don't wanna spend all that money on a clutch, skimp on the smaller parts, only to have to go back in again. That's a lot of labor for nothing...

patriick, the US website sucks lol. It basically says "we sell clutches" lol. Dunno why it's like that :dunno:

And I feel you...I wish this clutch was gonna work w/ my application, but it won't. But I assure you you'll be VERY happy w/ it. I've read nothing but rave reviews about it, and all my customers have loved it thus far ;)

Ramy, I know that I need new clutch soon. I just want to find out how much I will have to spend for the new clutch, so I can save the money. So, if you can get the ball park of the clutch kit, I can let you know if I can be in it.

Thanks
Daniels

i need this clutch soon too :-(

proz07 09-03-07 08:47 AM

yo
this just happens to be the clutch i was looking at for my fd, had the regular exedy twin but figured itd be too harsh for my taste so i sold it. but i would like some questions answered before i jump on the band wagon. first worst case senario what would the price be and if its lower when purchased ill just be happier? second it didnt mention clamp load and capable torque/horspower so what are we looking at, my understanding is the higher the disk temp with these the more it will hold correct?
let me know i will be out of town the next two weeks but pm me i will try to get on a computer everynow and then till i get back
thanks

ramy doesnt use PM's and cannot publically post the price because it is too low, this is kind if an "inter-family" price that is top secret. plus, the more people we get, the less the price can possibly be.

as for the clamping load, it uses new technology that does not have harsh engagement like a organic twin clutch like you had. lets just say it will have peddle feel like stock, but capable of handling 500+hp.

Davin 09-03-07 02:35 PM

...and will make you cream your panties!!!

JKJK :D

proz07 09-03-07 07:15 PM

thats what i figured about the feel and power so were good there.....but the problem still comes at i need a price because im sure as hell not giving anyone my bank account info just cause they wont tell me a price, and just says "dont worry about it ill only take what its gonna cost". not that thats gonna happen with a reputable vendor like FDnewbie but let me know how were going to find out this knee scrappin' super topsecret price. cause other wise my address is 281 tracye ln cabot ar 72023 ill send you a thank you for the awsome price of nothing.
but seriosly <----not sure if thats right---- how do i get a PRICE$$$$$ these arent exactly cheap even at discount but i may be wrong
later

heres my email if thats an acceptable way

FDNewbie 09-03-07 07:19 PM

proz07, if you want a ballpark figure that is NOT considered an accurate quote (ie don't hold me to it), the clutch is about $1700. That's for estimate purposes only. Depends on the discount (if available), exchange rate, etc. So if you want a safe amount to start saving for, save about $2K.

~Ramy

proz07 09-03-07 07:32 PM

ok thats cool one other thing i noticed you said exchange rate are these being imported? i know you do alot of that but i also know how long it can take shipping overseas.
just curious
z

FDNewbie 09-03-07 07:43 PM

Yes they're being imported. They're $2500+ here in the US.

Re: ETA, depends on how fast you guys need 'em. Those who aren't in a hurry and want the max savings, I can have 'em shipped slow and cheap. For those who want 'em like yesterday lol, I can have 'em express shipped. Takes only a few days. But of course, it's more expensive.

Oh and before you ask, I'm not quoting shipping prices right now ;)

Stanello 09-03-07 09:36 PM

Would this GB also cover the Compe-R twin for the FC?

FDNewbie 09-03-07 10:10 PM

I suppose we can open it up to an "anything Exedy" GB... But if that happens, we're gonna need to start a new thread.
