Hey guys,
I got permissiion from Ramy to get this going over here, and if we can get the interest, hopefully we can get the ball rollin. Kai had mentioned earlier that he paid $130-$135, I am not sure what to expect as a resilt of the GB. Once Ramy can find out the details I'm sure he'll post them.

EDIT: A word about pricing. FEED (along w/ MANY other JDM vendors) redid their pricing scheme in the beginning of '07, so please don't compare old pricing w/ new pricing. They've updated their website accordingly, as well as added a bunch of new products.

Thanks,

Ramy,

How many people do you need to get this rolling?

Mahjik, we have more than enough ppl to get the GB going. I'm just finding out about price now. Once I have one, I'll post it up ;)

That is most likely going to depend on the bumpers being used. I think anyone who is thinking about these should be aware that in the front there most likely will be fitting issues.

The rear will probably be ok unless you have a diffuser. People should also think about "why" they want them.

wptrx7 03-22-07 11:50 AM

The JDM look YO!

TMadlem84 03-22-07 12:16 PM

How about a OEM R1 bumper? My car took a crap recently... & I wasn't really happy with having to tow it from the tow-hook underneath the front bumper as it has probably pushing the lip & bumper up.

These are mainly for track cars. When a car has an "off" on a track, it may be in a position/situation where you can't get to anything under the car to hook a tow cable (i.e. tire deep stuck in a sand trap). Therefor, you need something exposed that can be used to pull the car to safety. They aren't designed or meant to be used to pull the car long distances. That's what flatbeds are for....

mirabile 03-22-07 12:37 PM

Right... I didn't tow the car from Florida to Indiana... I towed it from my work to my house so I didn't have to run the car & risk breaking something else.

Or are these not strong enough/designed for this? I just didn't like how the chain I was using to tow my car back to my house was pushing up on the lip/bumper because the tow points are so low/underneath/behind the fron lip.

I'm not planning on towing my car cross country... but on the occasion that is breaks down (which has happened a few times... & I'm sure will happen a few more times...) it would be nice to have a tow hook that didn't require a chain rubbing/pushing/bending/possible breaking the front bumper/lip.

If you guys say this hook wouldn't be stron enough for the application I'd want it for, I beleive you. I just saw 'tow hook' & thought... "that would be nice to have re-located...' Does anyone know if this will fit on a stock R1 bumper without cutting/welding?

Mahjik 03-22-07 01:22 PM

They can be used to 'assist' getting your car up on a flatbed. If you see some of the BMW's, they have a screw in hook that can go in the front or rear bumper to assist in this manner.

However, if you need to have your car moved from any place that is further than 1 or 2 blocks, I would suggest you flatbed it.

So they are weaker than the stock tow hooks that are underneath the bumper?

wptrx7 03-22-07 01:50 PM

Oh boy, if you are going more than 60 feet with it, than this is not for you

Mahjik 03-22-07 01:53 PM

Once again, that's not really the goal for these (and that's not the goal for the stock hook either to tow the car any real distance). If you put your car into a wall at a track, you obviously can't get to to the front of the car. You don't want some driver hooking a tow hook to some suspension part to pull you out of the way, hence the need for a rear hook. The front hook is more there to extend out not to damage the car as most track going cars have a lot of custom work.

For a street application, these don't really offer anything aside from "looking cool".

TMadlem84 03-22-07 01:54 PM

You just need to make sure of what you are getting. Like I said, they can be used to assist a tow truck driver in getting the car up on a flatbed. So, there are some street uses for them, but they are not designed to be pulling the car for extended periods of time.

To be honest, I hope never to use them. But in the case I need them, I want them there. Most track guys won't care about fitting, as they will 'make' them fit. ;)
