Hey what exactly is needed for this build like which steering rack did you use a power steering rack or a manual or is it from the s4 or the s5 thanks

Havoc 10-31-11 09:49 PM

either S4 or S5 PS rack is fine. Rack all stays the same.

If you have a manual rack you will have to change it.

Any updates on this? How is the pump holding on?

Anybody else tried it?

Havoc 02-07-12 11:30 PM

Ive been running mine for the past month or so, is great !!, still need to hook up the speedo input, but has been a great addition.

+ with 245's on the front I can turn the wheel again with ease :)

I have a clip on youtube somewhere, just do a search for mantrx7

Are you running yours at all time, or using a switch?

I need to do something about the PS soon. Those 245 (or is it 235? can't remember) are KILLING me

full time currently, plan to wire up the speed control later, but full time isnt half as bad as I thought it would be. Only at speeds over 160km/h it gets a bit twitchy

Can you share some pics on how/where you have it mounted and the p.s. line hook-ups? cheers

2 questions.... which mr2 is the pump our of and would this process be much differant for an fd?

Havoc 08-04-13 09:56 PM

from the spyder if you want the reservoir.

FD, would be the same but the feed and return line might be in different locations.

FBlife 08-04-13 11:32 PM

Is that parts by max in the background?

Havoc 08-05-13 02:54 AM

misterstyx69 12-01-13 11:37 AM

I think martin converted his FC as well

wrathofshampoo 03-03-14 06:21 AM

why not add a switch to turn off the pump? power steering is good for parking but i actually prefer it off when driving.

Havoc 03-03-14 09:43 PM

It doesn't work like that, its different to a manual rack. Go pull your belt off your current powersteering setup and tell me if you like it.....

Sorry not sure. But its very obvious if the lines are put round the wrong way (it shudders back and forth just sitting there)

(ask me how I know :P)

cr-rex 03-04-14 08:14 AM

My question was about what fittings to get for an fd rack. Like what size and pitch

wrathofshampoo 03-07-14 08:49 AM

i never pulled the belt off my rx7 but i run no belt on my turbo prelude and i love it, even without an electric motor for parking. its a lot harder than a manual rack but the feel of it is much better.
