Where's the ECU?
I'm sorry if this seems rediculously basic, but I'm replacing the stock ECU in my '88 convertible and I can't find where it is located in the car. My Haynes manual shows it in the driver's footwell next to the fusebox but I don't see it. Any clues would be highly appreciated.

It's under the PASSENGER footwell.  You need to remove the passenge side kickpanel and the door sill trim to remove the carpet.  Under the carpet is a silver metal panel - you'll need to remove this - two 10mm nuts on top and two 10mm bolts on the bottom.  The ECU is under there...

Ted,
Thanks a bunch! I was about to go nuts looking for it. Never thought about looking under there. You're a life saver. Bob |
I looked through my Factory Service Manual and I swear to god under "ECU Removal" it said "Ask Ted..." Go figure! :p:
