Ignition

IS THERE ANY PROBLEM TO USE STOCK 88N/A COILS AND IGNITERS ON A 13BT(S5) WITH AFTERMARKET ECU?
WHAT AFTERMARKET COILS AND IGNITERS DO YOU INSIST OF USING ON A STREET-PORTED 13BT?

I prefer some type of CDI system.&nbsp Others will argue CDI boxes are unnecessary.

If you got the money, all MSD.

ignition on NA and TII is same...CAS, ignitors/coils....same specs when u look into FSM, same stuff when u look under hood.....

doing engine swap NA to TII or vice versa for example does not require swapping ignition stuff because its other part of harness and it works same....

some one told me that some cdi boxes would be a flaw in an rx ignition because the fact that the esentric shaft is under driven.. rotors are at double what the tach says and some ignition boxes cant keep up.. i tryed putting a jacobs ice pack ignition box on my t2 and it worked fine....except my boost went all the way to fuel cut for some reason..all vac lines fine took my intercooler off gave every thing a visual looks fine...well i noticed after about three days my idle is getting rougher so i take the ignition off and it still hits fuel cut idle is like **** "apex seals" extra air without extra fuel my fault but how the hell did this occur....who uses what cdi's and do they have any probs with them?

Microtech LT-8 will run on your factory coils and igniters and it will run fine, AJC-13b is using factory coils and is making good power.

Im using the Microtech MTX-8 with inbuilt igniters and 4x Bosch HEC-715 coils.

what do mean underdriven?i.e. when the tacho says 6000rpm,what is the real speed of the eccentric shaft and what about the rotors speed?

i think you will find it is the other way around, the rotors spin at a 1/3 of the engine speed i thought,

Yes, when the tachometer says 6000 rpm, the eccentric shaft is 6000 rpm, but the rotors are 2000 rpm.

The rpm issue is twofold:
1) Assuming the same type of ignition system, the rotary engine fires its plugs twice as much per rev as a 4-stroke piston engine. This is because the rotary fires each rotor once per output shaft revolution like a 2-stroke, while the 4-stroke only fires half its cylinders per output shaft revolution.
2) Rotary engines tend to rev higher than piston engines of the same output configuration (ie street / race).
