FuelTech Vision 700/700+ unveiling
FuelTech Vision 700/700+ unveiling
The good stuff starts about 10 minutes in
Cloud connectivity, native video streaming, over the air tunes, dual o2 conditioners, EV controls, VE fueling, GPS, smart triggers for functions, iOS / android / Mac / PC directly compatible, real time tuning over the air, customizable multi-input triggers, 64gb onboard data log at 1000hz...
I think FuelTech just took the lead in ECU design..
Yeah I agree. But look at the features: you can run dual NTK o2 sensors with the built-in conditioner, so you don't need a separate wideband controller. It has 20 half-bridge 15amp powered relays, so you probably don't need a PDM if you are re-wiring the car, it all goes through the ECU. Supports video and audio natively, so it can replace your radio. Of course it's a data logger as well like all FuelTech ECUs, so no need to buy a data logger, and it will stream that data along with GPS location for track specific tuning. And it has a ton of inputs and outputs so no need to buy expanders.
The 700 does everything with a smaller screen, at $3999 it's definitely not cheap. But look at what else comes near it. Holly EFI comes the closest but by the time you add all the extras to get near the 700, you've spent a lot more money. And a motec M880 is ~$4700 with a fraction of the capabilities.
The smart trigger options are extremely cool..

Oh I agree it will be awesome. But no where near what the average enthusiast that buys an elite 2500 will be looking to purchase.
I've been looking at maxxecu pro lately. Which comes with similar benefits (built in wideband, built in EGT, tons of inputs outputs), no screen obviously. So now this makes that decision a lot harder haha.

No, it's definitely no average enthusiast level, but it is nice club racing level.
How does it stack up against the Maxxecu range? If you added a full display to the Maxx, are you near the cost of the 700/+?
Fueltech currently has no ABS integration, I'm not sure if that will change. If they want to be a full motorsport ECU and not only a drag-centered product, that would be a nice thing to include. I'll be using an MK60E1 ABS, I wanted to go with a MK60E5 with a Motorsports flash, but that requires a CAN connection (and a vastly more expensive flash) that the FT550 won't provide. Very few RX7 people care about ABS, but it is definitely a lacking feature compared to other ECUs.
