E-manage ultimate map sensor

Hey guys,
I was looking for a greddy map so i can eliminate the AFM, and i stumble on these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...spagenameZWD1V
It seems to be a like a generic map sensor i was wondering if anyone has tried on of these and has any feedback

I have one of these to fit - at the moment the eManage is out of the car - but is soon going back in again (problem with the emanage loading the water and Air intake temp sensors on the stock ECU - I've built a buffer box to get around the problem).

I used a GM 3 BAR MAP sensor the first time around - it's ok, but it's not one of the sensors on the drop down list, so tuning has to be done using the raw voltage values - I'm hoping this one is a direct swap for the Greddy sensor in terms of pressure/voltage curve.

I'll post an update when I've got it running again (by end April hopefully)

well let me know thats something i was wondering to i was hoping the voltages would be directly the same as the greddys. but if you could keep me updated that would be great. The biggest reason i want it is to remove the AFM, i believe mine might be causing problems. plus it would be one less thing to worry about and to have in the engine bay. what was your problem with the water and air temp? i havnt gotten my car running right but i thought my sensor were working with the emanage.
Thanks
Brian

When I connected it up first time, it started ok, ran but ran pig rich - clouds of white smoke out the back and smelling of gas

The way I've built my loom for the emanage, I can plug all the bits back to the stock (well actually chipped) ecu, so I started with the ignition, no difference, then the injectors - again no difference. I had virtually disconnected everthing - the only sensors left connected were the TPS, RPM sensing and the Water and Air temp sensors. I measured the voltages on these, the TPS was the same whether the emanage was in circuit or not, but both the water temp and air temp signals were being dragged down by the Emanage, causing the stock ECU to overfuel (thinking the engine was cold).

As I tinker with electronics, I've built a little box to buffer these signals, which means the ECU should see the correct voltage, and the eManage get's a buffered copy of the same signal and won't interfere. The bonus is I've added a little micro to turn the temp signals into a serial output for an LCD display - so I can see the temps. Just got to find a case for the display now...

I'll post up details of the circuit once I've finalised the design. Should get chance to test it this weekend, and the eManage will get connected up again next weekend or the weekend after - so I'll be testing that pressure sensor before then.

wow thats cool. I meant to hook my emanage up like that but at the time i had heat shrink butt connectors and not other connectors so of course i got lazy. Thanks for the idea though i think i also wired into my temp signal im not sure if i wired it through the emanage or just spliced into the signal but my car is also running really rich. Not sure exactly how rich till the wide band is in, but it smokes bad and has no low end power. If i have it going though the emanage ill have to try wiring it back to stock and see what happens let me know how the Map sensor goes to please,

Been so busy I've not had chance to test the pressure sensor and report back - well I got it installed yesterday, and it seems to work fine when you select 'Greddy Pressure Sensor' from the drop down.

Emanage is still not running right - it does start, but the car runs rich - although not as rich as before, which is due to my buffering the temp sensor signals for water and IAT temp. The Stock ECU throws Codes 8, 71 and 73 - which is AFM and Secondary Injectors.

I don't think the eManage provides enough load on the injector outputs of the stock ECU when you use the injector in/out pairs as I have done - so I need to wire in some 13 ohm resistors (dummy injector load) - that should sort out the 71/73 errors. As for the AFM error - not sure what to do about that one - needs more research - but it's close to being a runner !

Thumbs up

Little update on this...

I've made up a resistor pack - 4 15 Ohm 10Watt resistors in a box - which is just wired across the injector outputs from the stock ECU - 1 resistor to each output, and the other ends all commoned together and fed from the +12v feed to the injectors. This mimicks the load that the injector drivers expect to see, and prevents the 71/73 error codes when you use the eManage in cut/add mode.

The car is now working with the eManage in control of the injectors and ignition, but with all the maps off and outputs unaffected (pass thru). Seems to be running ok, and the MAP sensor from ebay is spot on - reads boost exactly the same as the Profec B spec II unit - so I'd say these are a good buy !
