AFM delete intake idea

I was looking for something to re-attach my air filter after I took out my AFM (megasquirt uses MAP so no need for MAF)
From other pages I've seen lots of people say to do some sort of DIY solution for it. I couldn't really find any real ideas or instructions for the DIY side.. so I thought I'd see if eBay had anything to offer

My old air filter set up is in the picture I attached.

I found this:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MAF-Mass-Air-...ht_3484wt_1209

Couldn't you just get one of those, attach the side that's supposed bolt to the AFM to the air filter's AFM side, then stick the 3" circle peice straight into the stock pipe that goes to the turbo? Pretty much just install that ebay peice backwards and put the circle that's supposed to go into the air filter, into the inlet pipe.

Why haven't I seen anyone with this before? Seems like a pretty cheap, easy, and not very ghetto (no pvc pipes) way of doing it...

Better ideas:

1) Just put everything back together like it was. You can still have the AFM in the system even if it is not giving a signal to the ECU.

... and of course as soon as you read that you said to yourself, "but the main reason I am using a Megasquirt is so that I can get rid of the AFM restriction!". OK, fine, but two points to that... First of all, the AFM isn't actually all that much of a restriction. Secondly, an AFM adapter will create a restriction, so if you truly don't want restrictions, then you need to get rid of that too. Which brings us to the other cheap and easy option...

2) Buy a new air filter that fits the stock intake pipe or fits directly to the turbo inlet, and simply attach it with a hose clamp or zip tie. You can sell your old setup on Ebay. Here is a link that lists K&N filters by dimensions:
http://www.knfilters.com/universal/universal.htm

... and now for a more efficient solution that is not quite as cheap and easy as the two above...

3) Make a new inlet pipe and fit your current air filter or a different air filter as appropriate. See this link about the TID:
