about MICROTECH

does anybody here ever used a microtech ecu on his rx7
?i've seen many rx7's with microtech mt or mtx series on,but i don't know how they used to manage trailing ignition.
i've also heard of a new model,i think it's called ltx8,what do you know about that?

Yes lots of people have used them

The difference between the models are as follows,

MT8 uses your factory coils/ignaters has 4 injector and 4 ignation out puts, will control leading trailing split. can be hooked up to 16 injectors no problem at all.

The MTX8 uses internal ignaters, therefore will run after market coils most people use the HEC 715 bosch coils, this is a true direct fire setup ie 1 coil per plug, lots of cars have run into the 9's and some into the 8's with
this setup. will aslo control leading/trailing split, MT and MTX are basically the same apart from the ignaters

the LTX8 is the new version witch is full laptop programe, has a few added features to make it easier to use.
all the new ECU's are labled LT or LTX

they can still be programmed with the Handset if you wish

Yes they will do leading/trailing split, i have the latest manual in front of me and you can adjust the split as you like in 500rpm intervals,
the LTX8 has 4 coils, 1 for each spark plug, it is true direct fire, no shared trailing coil.
the LTX12 will do leading/trailing split on a 20B, it is one of the very very few computers that can run full sequential injection and leading/trailing split on a 20B.

Yes they have staged injection setup on the base maps from microtech, you can adjust the amount staged and when the switch over point is in map, rpm or mixture of both.

you can tune off boost with TPS input or MAP input, MAP is standard but can be set to TPS, i use TPS on my ski boat witch has 8 injectors running off the MT8 perfectly.

when using the laptop you can save 4 maps to the dongle that connects the cable to the computer, these can be dumped onto another computer at any time .

Hey Kurgan
the price to you for an ltx 12 microtech with 6 coils & wiring harness would be $1495 aus. This works out around $800 US.
i can supply you with one if you need it as well as good after sales service & back up.It will run your 20b properly & i can give you a hand with the tuning & set up also

Thanks, I'll let you know... I'm either going with this or the TECIII, haven't decided yet. Does the microtech ltx 12 have windows support? Can you log wideband o2 readings with the software? The trailing map is only RPM based only, correct? What sensors does it use (GM like the Haltech)? Which coils would you be providing with the system? Do they have ignitors?

Thanks,
Nick

Yes the LTX 12 is windows supported,
at this stage you cant log wide band but you can log narrow band, wide band is in the works.
they use all standard mazda sensors.
the coils are BOSCH HEC 715 and there are 6 of them.
the LTX has inbuilt ignaters and dosent require any external ignaters. the LT uses the factory or after market ignaters.

Thanks Dale
You answered everything for me.
And yes Kurgan the leading & trailing split is based on rpm,you have an adjustment every 500 rpm.
Any other microtech problems or queries anyone has don't hesitate to drop me a line.
