Roll Cage..

I am looking all over trying to figure out the cage I wanna get and finally found a setup I like comes pre-bent, needs to be welded in. The only problem I am having is trying to figure out the rules behind some amature drift leagues. I cant seem to find anything except SCCA...

The two im looking at are either 1-3/4" X 0.120 DOM Mild Steel or 1-3/4" X 0.134 EWS Mild Steel or 1-5/8" X 0.134 EWS Mild Steel. The DOM is nearly twice as much in price...

Any sanctioned competition you enter will have to meet SCCA rules. formula D, XDC, and grassroots drifting. You will need to get DOM. then you need to figure out how heavy your car is going to be to decide on what tubing size you need to get. I would advise you to take it to someone who can actually build you a proper cage.

Safety is the number one factor and price should not matter to an extent. NEVER USE EWS FOR A REAL TRACK CAR!!!

^^ wise words indeed. A roll cage that is not properly built, as well as one that is built with the wrong material, is even more of a danger than not having one at all.

1 3/4 .120 DOM thickness is FD and SCCA legal. The FD rules state that you have to petition if your car is over 3500lbs for car approval.. I dont see any RX7 weighing in over 3500.

You have to make sure the demensions, angles, number of bends and propper door bars are going to be constructed as well.

Min thickness for an FD cage is 1 5/8 .095 which makes for more room in the car, and a lighter cage (lbs per foot of cage tube)

Read the rulebook for whatever clubs you are going to run in though.
