quick q about driftin'

hey all...
want to learn to drift to learn more about how to control my car on different types of roads, tires, etc...
there's alot i want to do to the suspension before i even think about beginning, so i got plenty of time...
i'm curious, how many of you drifters get motion sick?
i get car sick if im a passenger on curvy roads, but if im the driver it doesnt effect me so much however, as of late while driving kinda fast 'grip style' around some curves i feel very slight oncomings of the same motion sickness...
anybody else, or am doomed to not drift?

Summit HEART 12-29-10 09:19 PM

your just nervous, take a duece that always works for me

aka the "nervous duece"

driftfcbuckey 12-29-10 09:36 PM

it's all nerves... as you drive more, and get more comfortable the nerves lessen up.

the first time i tandem'd with another car, i was literally shaking, but loved it. the adrenaline really screws with you at first.
give it time.

if that doesnt work, take some meds lol

Zenki FC3S 12-29-10 09:58 PM

i usually smoke a few blunts.... maybe have a few beers

otherwise im too pumped and look like a crackhead

FCs4226 12-29-10 10:39 PM

smoke blunts and then smoke tires. lol

Daviticus 12-30-10 01:51 PM

i hear you guys, but motion sickness has to do with balance.there are different theories as to what actually causes it but the point is, your brain reads different inputs and then tries to compensate for the direction youre facing vs. the direction your body is moving to figure the best way to balance and transfer that info to your body.
here's one example if you want to read through it.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2...n_sickness.htm

point is, that it's not nerves or adrenelin im feeling...i know what its like to get motion sick, i've gotten motion sick as far back as i can remember but only when im the passenger(obviously i was a passenger til i was at least 16), and not when im the driver until i started whipin around curves...only recently though...
i appriciate your feedback guys for sure, and im definately not tryin to sound rude, but i do know the difference between motion sick and adrenilin.
my focus with starting this thread is to find people that already get motion sick too, and find out how they feel after a good drift, aside from excited as im sure thats a very normal side affect, a very possitive one at that.
i know all about the different methods that are used to combat motion sickness and if i have to ill
deal with that when the time comes
that been said, any input?
thanks guys.

ps, tried to spell check, but it didnt work. sorry.

driftfcbuckey 12-30-10 08:03 PM

wouldnt dramamene help reduce the side effects?
not being a smart. just curious. i know it makes you all tired though... i took that shit on a boat once.

NatAsRex7 12-30-10 08:14 PM

dont eat anything before you drive and drink water =]

rx7fcfc 12-30-10 08:30 PM

lyk everyone said it probly nerves the thing that help me get over nerves is driving fast an trying to take every turn at 20 to 30 mph hahahahah oh and try drifting in the snow if u have a chance because its slower passed than drifting in the dry so less stress

rotary everything! 12-30-10 09:23 PM

i've taken a few different drugs for this before, but im tryin to stay away from those as you are correct the do offer negative side effects...
empty stomach with plenty of water sounds good...ill try that out
but im still curious about ppl that actually get car sick and not just stressed or nervous...
i dont get nervous so often, somtimes i do then i just quikly remind myself, "well, if i die then i guess it's a perfect time to do so." and then im not so stressed anymore...
but again thats not really the topic here.
for those of you who have responded or will respond, do you get car sick if you're the passenger? on a regular?
i get in any car with some one else driving and cruise down some curvey back roads and almost instantly have to ask the driver to pull over.

driftfcbuckey 12-30-10 09:35 PM

being the passenger always seems worse to me... there's always that "what if this dude fucks up right now"

Tofuman FC3S 12-31-10 05:06 AM

This thread reminds me of the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon researches the internet to learn how to swim, and decides to practice on the floor of his apartment.

or sometimes, "what if this dude's too fucked up right now."

hit a parked dump truck while sitting on the passenger floor(seat wasn't in yet) of a buddies "newly running" project after I asked this.

this happens way too often when i'm riding with my friend...

stevensimon 12-31-10 12:12 PM

why do people think that its ok to smoke up or drink then go fuck around?

confuses me honestly.

drifting and driving drunk, you loose your senses and addreline and makes you less nerveous which makes bettter drift? i dunno about drifting but when i drive drunk, i dont give a fuck. maybe thats why

idk about drinking, but i tend to drive better when ive been up all night the night before. makes you more mellow, and less prone to making errors. to me anyways...
i know plenty of pro dudes who smoke prior to driving, and they still drive hard..

me and a friend killed a 24 pack of corona and smoked out all day at the all star car battle

then my bro let me drive... this one my only run of the night and i was buzzed for sure

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utEUYNG9n_Q

around 400hp and on a track that i have run before, but in the other direction

wankle1 01-02-11 01:08 AM

I went "drifting" on a dirt road once when i was pretty buzzed and it scared the shit out of me more than anything. I'd rather be in a car sober.

rotary everything! 01-02-11 03:17 PM

i smoke n drink on a regular basis but personally i take driving very seriously and i dont want to fuck around with that, in fact more often than not im the designated sober driver, but really can only fit one other person anyway, several trips back and forth is fun tho, gives me an excuse to spend some gasoline.

but hey if thats what u guys want to do, more power to ya...and good luck.

so back to the point, anyone out there get motion sick?
