quick q about driftin'
hey all...
want to learn to drift to learn more about how to control my car on different types of roads, tires, etc... there's alot i want to do to the suspension before i even think about beginning, so i got plenty of time... i'm curious, how many of you drifters get motion sick? i get car sick if im a passenger on curvy roads, but if im the driver it doesnt effect me so much however, as of late while driving kinda fast 'grip style' around some curves i feel very slight oncomings of the same motion sickness... anybody else, or am doomed to not drift? |
your just nervous, take a duece that always works for me
aka the "nervous duece" |
it's all nerves... as you drive more, and get more comfortable the nerves lessen up.
the first time i tandem'd with another car, i was literally shaking, but loved it. the adrenaline really screws with you at first. give it time. if that doesnt work, take some meds lol |
i usually smoke a few blunts.... maybe have a few beers
otherwise im too pumped and look like a crackhead |
smoke blunts and then smoke tires. lol
|
Stoned sliding is fun sliding.
|
eh idk, sometimes i get to nervous when hi sliding. its def nice to after tho.
just like a cig after sexx |
i hear you guys, but motion sickness has to do with balance.there are different theories as to what actually causes it but the point is, your brain reads different inputs and then tries to compensate for the direction youre facing vs. the direction your body is moving to figure the best way to balance and transfer that info to your body.
here's one example if you want to read through it. http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2...n_sickness.htm point is, that it's not nerves or adrenelin im feeling...i know what its like to get motion sick, i've gotten motion sick as far back as i can remember but only when im the passenger(obviously i was a passenger til i was at least 16), and not when im the driver until i started whipin around curves...only recently though... i appriciate your feedback guys for sure, and im definately not tryin to sound rude, but i do know the difference between motion sick and adrenilin. my focus with starting this thread is to find people that already get motion sick too, and find out how they feel after a good drift, aside from excited as im sure thats a very normal side affect, a very possitive one at that. i know all about the different methods that are used to combat motion sickness and if i have to ill deal with that when the time comes that been said, any input? thanks guys. ps, tried to spell check, but it didnt work. sorry. |
wouldnt dramamene help reduce the side effects?
not being a smart. just curious. i know it makes you all tired though... i took that shit on a boat once. |
dont eat anything before you drive and drink water =]
|
lyk everyone said it probly nerves the thing that help me get over nerves is driving fast an trying to take every turn at 20 to 30 mph hahahahah oh and try drifting in the snow if u have a chance because its slower passed than drifting in the dry so less stress
|
i've taken a few different drugs for this before, but im tryin to stay away from those as you are correct the do offer negative side effects...
empty stomach with plenty of water sounds good...ill try that out but im still curious about ppl that actually get car sick and not just stressed or nervous... i dont get nervous so often, somtimes i do then i just quikly remind myself, "well, if i die then i guess it's a perfect time to do so." and then im not so stressed anymore... but again thats not really the topic here. for those of you who have responded or will respond, do you get car sick if you're the passenger? on a regular? i get in any car with some one else driving and cruise down some curvey back roads and almost instantly have to ask the driver to pull over. |
being the passenger always seems worse to me... there's always that "what if this dude fucks up right now"
|
This thread reminds me of the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon researches the internet to learn how to swim, and decides to practice on the floor of his apartment.

confuses me honestly. me and a friend killed a 24 pack of corona and smoked out all day at the all star car battle then my bro let me drive... this one my only run of the night and i was buzzed for sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utEUYNG9n_Q around 400hp and on a track that i have run before, but in the other direction |
I went "drifting" on a dirt road once when i was pretty buzzed and it scared the shit out of me more than anything. I'd rather be in a car sober.
|
i smoke n drink on a regular basis but personally i take driving very seriously and i dont want to fuck around with that, in fact more often than not im the designated sober driver, but really can only fit one other person anyway, several trips back and forth is fun tho, gives me an excuse to spend some gasoline.
but hey if thats what u guys want to do, more power to ya...and good luck. so back to the point, anyone out there get motion sick? |
dude it seems like motion sickness and anxiety if your thinking about dieing and shit
|
ha...lol...you guys are totally funny...lol...im really enjoying this, thanks for all your input guys
but im sorry i'll have to disagree with ya...there's definately a science behind motion sickness...most people dont get it...im one of the unfortunate ones who do get sick. as far as the diein' thing...i was just mentioning a way that i personally combat being nervous. no big deal though, i'm just curious to see if other drifters get car sick too. thanks to all your replies guys for sure...this a good little thread.! |
the only time i thought i was going to be sick was my first few competitions (stressful as hell) but after the first few comps i stopped getting nervous and learned how too have fun
but as far as smoking or drinking before driving (track or street) there is no way in hell not only are you putting your life on the line but also others. i know too many that have died because they did or because someone else did |
I never experienced motion sickness while drifting or even riding shotgun. To the guy who posted this why not try a ride along in someone else's car to see how the dynamics of weight transfer in a car feels to you.
Idk I compare the rush of driving in a drift car to a roller coaster u control, that's one of the fun things about the sport. I also get this panic sensation that the car is out of control sometimes but it just leads to a bigger rush lol. Drifting is as fun and aggressive as what it looks, sounds, smells n feels like. To do it in my choice favorite car also adds to the excitement. |

I go all serious face and i'm controlling the car....poorly but i'm not all over the place clenched-jawed and walleyed spinning out and slipping pedals. Find a means to relax and center your chi! I have friends that are not only terrified of driving but are afraid to sit in my car. They know i skid about and they also know i love to attack corners with a bit of emotion. Anywho, they've all been in some bad wrecks where they weren't the ones driving and a bit of trauma is there. Just dont give up. If you are really adamant about it you can overcome your issues. |
good post, i will try n ride with someone else...currently i dont know anyone else that drifts, havent been to any tracks or anything yet.
yeah some deep breathin might help for sure... no body else get car sick, even with out fast corner attacks....? i know a few ppl that get sick on a norm, but they dont drift...oh well...thanks guys! |
Everyone says you need LSD to drift, I say why not drift while on LSD?
|
ha! that's insane man, i havent taken that shit in years...sure i tried it, alot... but no more man. and to do that while driftin!? i really hope no one does that...thats just crazy.
so no one gets car sick just riding in a car, not drifting or even fast, just normal driving conditions? ok, guess i thought there was alot more ppl out there that get motion sick. |
