sweet, good info for sure! the availability of e-85 in other states is one of the main reasons why i dont want to mess with it not to mention the fact that it makes my eyes water heavily...

380-450 is plenty i dont want to risk my motor every run. i do like the reliability factor of the stock power levels, and i know it wont stay like that @ 450, but id like to get it as reliable as i can to make through each weekend.

haltech sprint-re is what i'm looking at getting. along with 4x 1000cc injectors. any suggestions on that setup? i feel the secondaries might be a little small, but ID injectors will make me miss XDC Round 1...

i plan on going anywhere from LA, to englishtown NJ, to Florida this year if money permits, and i don't know how easy it would be to get E-85 out there. i dont like making things more difficult on me when it's already hard enough to find a rebel station when you need one. i don't want to have to plan out getting gas that hard.

sure i could buy a 55gal drum, and fill it up and take it with (HUGE fire hazzard) or i could fill up locally before i go out (more weight/strain on the truck/higher temps)

but even if it weren't for all of that, i still can't stand the smell of it. it makes me sneeze constantly, and makes my eyes water (why i dont know) but its like clockwork.

i dunno. call me old school, but race gas/pump gas just seems easier.... at worse case scenario each race track usually has race gas on tap. if not there's ALWAYS a gas station within a block-10mile radius.

when i show up to drive, i should only be worried about driving, and not stressing on finding e-85... :/

e-85 is considered pump gas since it's found at hybrid filling stations which has an octane rating of about 97 octane which has a detonation threshhold of ~27psi in rotary applications, C-16 i don't really feel like recalulating but it was around 50psi of boost, methanol has an octane rating around 100 which is good for about 30psi. i don't really run methanol as a straight fuel because it is pretty harsh on fuel system components and only really hardcore drag racers use it as a pump fuel so when i refer to methanol i refer to it as an auxiliary injectant like water injection but methanol burns and allows for more power versus a static knock suppressant like water which doesn't really add noticable power. for the best of both worlds i usually recommend 50%water/50% methanol blend for the auxiliary injection as i have been running it for years without any ill effects.

some people prefer straight water, some people prefer straight methanol, but methanol auxiliary injection isn't nearly as much of a knock safety buffer as water is. some people run up to and well beyond 30psi with straight water injection on 91 octane pump fuel, with methanol as a auxiliary injectant i wouldn't push more than about 22-23psi, many people have tried to push further and failed because auxiliary injection is not an accurate injectant as the fuel system fuel injectors are.

i don't really have alot of experience with haltechs as not many of my customers were running them so i can't really comment on the sprint. i haven't heard anything bad about the ID injectors so i wouldn't worry about that, and just about any haltech will be fine, just depends on which options you want/need it to do.

Mine have been on for a year now on both of my cars. I checked my daily for cracks a few times. Other than that, I've forgotten about them. *Knock on wood*

The first pair I welded with 220v gas and the second with 110v flux-core, both wire feed.

Daviticus 01-31-11 07:33 PM

I spaced your hopes of national competition, I figured it was staying local, my bad haha.

Nothing wrong with being old-school with fuel. Like you said, tracks usually have race gas on-tap, even if it is a few bucks more than normal.

if i had a gas welder i'd be all for it. flux core status though idk... im sure it would work, but why chance it when there's $20+k invested + your life... i've had friends spindles come apart on the freeway and watched them straight pummel into krails, so i'd be scared to do it without gas, and especially without enough experience. that's why i only trust JTP, or Forrest to make spindles.
there's nothing wrong with doing things yourself, i just know my boundaries. lol

again, tons of good info! thank you for helping! i'm 100% noob status on this, so i appreciate the good info. i usually go through a tank of gas per drift session (@ stock power) so i'll need to get a shake down event going once i get it all together and tuned to gauge how much i'll need to bring with out of state. i STILL need to pull the motor apart and see if i have a cracked iron, or side seal..
like you said i don't see myself needing more than 450whp. so i should be good on the 50/50% blend as you mentioned at my power goals.

i really like the E8 but i'm hesitant on buying it used. i don't like the SprintRE because of the lack of adjustability as well as the fact i need to run High Impedance injectors... :/ i think tonight i'm going to dig through some more threads and try to weight the options... ID injectors are pretty steep but the quality seems worth it.

nismo_bill 01-31-11 10:27 PM

this thread is awesome.. ive been following for sooo long.. i dont post hardly ever.. especially since i got rid of my last 7. but ive got a nice t2 im picking up this weekend. i just have to say this thread is my main motivation to get another fc.. thanks man. and good luck!!

i wish we had more shit for drifting in michigan.. we just have thieves.

driftfcbuckey 01-31-11 10:36 PM

Thieves are everywhere as unfortunate as that is... it sucks, but you just gotta try your best at all times to keep your shit on lock down, and even then it's still at risk.. just gotta hope for the best i guess.
Thanks for the props man! It makes all the photo taking/uploading worth it to know it helps others. that's the main reason why i started it! JTP's advice helped me alot when i was starting so just trying to help out however i can.

you should post more often in here! the T2 will be a fun car when you get it.
blockoff plates, deleted rats-nest, 3" downpipe, straightpipe exhaust, and intake kit will make it rip. score some GSL-SE 680cc injectors for the secondaries, and a wideband, and set the boost to 10psi, and it'll be a rocket.

i miss my early setup for street driving.

Gurew 01-31-11 10:52 PM

let me know when you are ready for some of my parts!

I'm ready, i can't wait! Ben has me contemplating ID 2000's right now! trying to dig through some threads to see what to do. i already bought 4 RC 1000's off a friend that are brand new..

Gurew 01-31-11 10:59 PM

really hard to beat...the injector dynamics injectors are TOP NOTCH!!!!

driftfcbuckey 01-31-11 11:09 PM

i'll need to pick up the inserts to run your rails correct?

looks like ID 2000's are going into the build sheet. better to be safe than sorry by pulling my motor out trying to save $100 on injectors.

Really looking forward to using your fuel rails! quality is top notch for sure!

you dont need the inserts in most cases, but i do make those too, if you ever need some just let me know and ill send some to you :) i make them 100 at a time lol

driftfcbuckey 01-31-11 11:45 PM

SWEET! lol so pumped right now! are you on azdriven.com?
you need to mass produce wheel spacers/steering angle tierod spacers! lol

Gurew 01-31-11 11:52 PM

im not on azdriven, should i be lol?

driftfcbuckey 01-31-11 11:57 PM

Do it if you live there! i just registered. Alex (the admin) is a pretty cool guy! they support alot of vendors, and whatnot.
i just threw my build thread on there to help get more views.

8,500 views isn't enough... lol

i would pay someone with experience in doing this to make me a proposal.

anything would help honestly... discounts on tires, discounts on gas to travel... etc.. i've got the drive to go anywhere at anytime, and throw down, just the money aspect is killer... same for everyone else..

What kind of marketing help are you looking for?

Progress:

Picked up 4x1200cc RC Engineering Injectors for use with Gurew's Fuel Rail setup Available @ thesarx.com I was going to go with ID 2000's but couldn't handle the price right now, and these were offered to me @ $350 so i had to snag them. used for 2 weeks on a car i drove half of that time so i knew it's worth it. i will upgrade later as the gt3582r setup is complete and i ditch this 60-1 stepping stone setup due to time/funding.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...e/DSC01349.jpg

also scored some Ray's lugnuts for free$$ to use on my rear wheels/spacers. kinda faded/used, but i'm going to polish them, and drill the ends out since they're somewhat dented. anything's better than gorilla lugs.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...e/DSC01352.jpg

and then here's a teaser of the Seat Setup i'm going to be running for this season:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...e/DSC01353.jpg

panties will drop ^^^

still waiting on DMAX Hood from 9kRacing, and BN Aero from fatboy garage. hopefully that stuff gets here soon so i can finish repairing the damage, and fitting everything back there....waiting for funds to order fresh Shine Auto Project Wide body fenders for the front (or get my friends Carbon Shineauto fenders)
i need to come up on a good ECU Setup if anyone has one they'd sell, or lead me to, lmk! really need to get my car running so i can test these spindles out before XDC.
i'm offering rates at advertising with my drift program this season, from windows rates, all the way to truck/trailer/car wraps... inquire within @ twinturbo92vr4@yahoo.com
Website in the works so stay tuned!

pm me your address btw

+1 for injector dynamics

but dude they arent that much...i got my for $80 piece lol

and theyre pretty much ford injectors for alternative fuel cars (like E-85=30% more fuel)

thats why ford has 720cc to 2000cc injectors

truthfully i didnt really look into them all that much. i saw a few sites at $200/piece, or a pair, and i honestly would've tried to get them, but my friend is hooking it up on these 1200's. i thought they were 1000s (which i thought to be small for secondaries) so i was leaning towards the ID's.

but when he said 1200's i figured id give it a shot.

i can always sell them once i buy the GT35r, and sell all the 60-1 stepping stone crap.

how's your car coming??

Finally got around to pulling the blockoff plates from my lower intake manifold, and cleaning everything. sprayed them really quick, and threw them on the painted lower intake.

Not too sure how i'm feeling about the blue color of the upper intake now... what does everyone think? leave it blue? paint it the same as the lower? or paint the lower the blue color too?

still need to buy more stainless hardware. Fuel rails, and 9k stuff should be here mid week (hopefully) also ordered 50mm, and 30mm bolt-on spacers.

going to mold the rear over fenders to the chassis and reinforce them alot. going to really try to mimic Haraguchi's Styling this time around with flush body styling, GT wing, and aggressive fitment.

Zenki FC3S 02-03-11 08:50 AM

yea the two colors dont match, so make them.

i used Rusto Wheel paint (Steel) from autozone... shits bomb!!!!
Just clear the shit outta it and it looks awesome. It even looks good as a base for candy

RXILVER7 02-03-11 09:06 AM

I would say make it all match. UIM, LIM, and block off plates.

slava 02-03-11 02:21 PM

doesnt look bad as it is. but if your going to make it match paint it all silver, not blue

i'm diggin' the blue. my friends car out here is all polished/blue, and i really like the theme.
i was a little skeptical on keeping the UIM Blue-ish. silver it is!

i want them polished in the following weeks after XDC rd 1. just no time/money for fashion show atm.
