How to restore your faded turn signals

Since i was bored, i thought of trying to restore my faded and messed up turn signals since im getting another set anyways lol. So didnt really care if i ruined them (more)
And FYI, they used to be smoked

Here is what i did.

1) Wet-sanded the cover with 400 until it felt really smooth.

Here is a pic of how they looked before and after the wet-sand.

Top one shows how they both looked after i started removing with brake cleaner the "night shade" VHT spray i used to smoke them.

Bottom one shows how it looked after wet-sanding it with 400

2) You dont really have to do this, but i thought i tried to see if i could get the covers off to clean the inside too. So i used a heat gun and went around the edge slowly for about a minute or two so the glue they have would get soft enough to take them apart

3) After i was done with the 400 and felt smooth, i wet-sanded them really quick with 1000 just to get any little scratch off.

4) Then i used the RUST-OLEUM "WAX & TAR" remover to clean them before applying the clear.

5) I sprayed 2 coats of RUST-OLEUM "ACRYLIC LACQUER" crystal clear.

6) Waited about 15 minutes for them to dry, and this is how they came out.

I know you can buy these lights for $35.00 + S.H. But if you have a heat gun and $18.00 you can use the rest of the money for something else.

If you have a Porter Cable, then you don't have to take them apart. My looked pretty bad. 10min with the buffer, orange pad and some swirl remover they look new again. Just another suggestion.
