Hey do you have any suggestions for old headlights? I've got some white residue from the typical old age. I've tried to scrub them, but it doesn't get any better. I'm not even sure if it's a buildup inside or outside. I've tried to use the Blue Magic Lens Restorations, but it didn't seem to do a good job.

To get any towels worth a damn on your paint (without screwing it up more) you should get them online. Theres a ton of detailing online stores that offer tools, towels, and products.
www.autogeek.net is just one of them. Just a FYI :)

My experience with putting tire shine on plastic body parts is that it will look wet for a few hours, maybe a day, then it will get all dried out and look flat. But YMMV

ok i skimmed through some of it, I saw people talking about those telfon waxes by dupont. Those are no better than any other run of the mill on the shelf wax. If its going to be the teflon part of it that interests you, you must know that for teflon in other products to be effective, it is applied at hundreds of degree's. So your not really "sealing" your car with the teflon, it may have some in it but its not making a difference. Not to be a negative nancy... but any wax that is really worth a darn I got online.
Once you try one of those you will never go back.
Zaino, Menzerna FMJ, P21s, those are all very awesome waxes that have great durability. They are reasonably priced as well compared to how long they last and how well they work compared to waxes bought in store

I kinda detail on the side so this is just stuff that I picked up/learned.
Also someone else said to use the 2 bucket method earlier in the thread, I can't stress that enough! You will be glad you did once you see how dirty your rinse water will be compared to your soap water.

How about the microfiber towels they sell at autozone? I been using them for years and i didnt notice a harsher/worse change in paint from using them.

Damn, and i just bought 2 packs of 10 to stack up.

Btw, i only use 1 NEW towel PER wax job, then i throw it out.

The drying towel i might use for 2 car washes, then i step that towel down for wheels for the next wash, then garbage.

I sorta use a break down process for towels.

i use a variable speed buffer with a wool pad to buff my headlights up from time to time..works nice. use a course grit rubbing compound then rub some wax on there so the bug guts clean off easier :)

BUMP -- I ordered some detailing products based on the input in this thread and others and want to make sure I'm all set.

Ordered this orbital buffer:

Ordered both polish and wax pad for random orbital.

Ordered this product for haze / swirl mark removal:

Plan is to:
1. Wash Car
2. Claybar Car
3. Use 3M product with Orbital Buffer
4. Wax with Orbital Buffer

Will be performed on a black acura TL and VR rx7.

Am I missing any steps? Can someone direct me to a *correct* and *safe* method to apply / buff the glaze and wax?

Will post before and after pics to bump this thread.

I Agree with Fcrocious. I've used many types of Microfiber towels, the only time I use the cheap ones is for window's, trim dye and wheels. Your best bet is to order from www.chemicalguys.com . That is the best place for great detailing supplies at a good price. For you high end guys I'd recommend www.detailersdomain.com .

I have a question on how to go about cleaning my S4 rx7. I just bought the car and it is in need of a new clear coat. It's peeling now. I was curious besides just washing the car, what other things I could do to make it less visible. Waxing, buffing? Tips on how to go about washing the car so I don't make it worse? Thank you!
