I'm returning to the peg after a long time down east (Guelph) and bringing my two 7's.

89 FC vert (red)
79 SA LE (black)

Who else is here and what have you GOT ?????

EonBlue 09-06-06 07:15 PM

www.manitobamazdaclub.com

Check it out, a bunch of 7 and 8 owners are on there.

As for my car, check out the sig.

ourxseven 09-08-06 08:58 AM

thanks for the link ... I like the signature . the vert has 2 of 3 , the SA only 1 of 3 . Neither really have speed , which is why I'm really hoping the next one is a FD.

any good rotary mechanics in wpg ???

Valdez 09-08-06 09:04 AM

I'm in winnipeg. Got 2 88's. One's a project, the other retired to organ donor status.

Brassmonkey 09-08-06 10:23 AM

I'm also in Winnipeg, i have an 86 with a 90 TII engine swapped in. Probably the loudest RX in Winnipeg...

Wrathritic 09-08-06 09:18 PM

Im in Winnipeg too, me gots a CYM

Fred out on St. Mary's is your best bet, he mostly does work on FB's and FC's. I'll see if I can dig up the number if you're really interested.

Oh and as for all the other owners, where were you all hiding? ;)

(probably the ugliest '93 around :( )

Valdez 09-09-06 09:57 AM

Yeah Fred is you best bet in Winnipeg. He knows these cars well and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Any other mechanic I've tried (even the Mazda dealerships) seem incompetent and over priced when it comes to these cars. Many mechanics will out right say they won't touch it, which makes me wonder what kind of mechanic they really are since there are a lot less parts to a rotary engine and have a simpler design. An engine is an engine. It they are not man enough to tackle the Mazda then I'm not taking my Buick or lawn mower there either.

ourxseven 09-09-06 10:01 AM

Thanks , I would be interested. (either by reply or PM).

ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE ???

how about the brown FC I've seen near Regent and Plessis ? ...... or the black SA around Pembina ? ........ or the rusty FC in Beausejour

ourxseven 09-09-06 10:07 AM

Have you got another COLOUR picture of that FD ..... the signature says cleveland .... but the stucco says winnipeg .

There are 3 others my color. I know b/c i saw the other three all at once parked within 2 blocks of each other. haha. At one point three of them were parked at Earl's on Main street.

I know of 2 red ones as well. Have seen a black one.

So there is at least 7 of them.

I want to get another FD. Mainly b/c I am a sucker for punishment.

ourxseven 09-12-06 08:39 AM

anymore contact info to find Fred on St. Marys ? ...... garage name ?

94 Montego Blue FD

Here is an old picture, not the best, it was taken as just before winter last year. This is the only one I can find right now.

EonBlue 09-16-06 05:27 PM

You know, we really should try to have some sort of meet sometime.

Fred's not the best, he built my fc engine, took like 6 months, and even then the engine wasnt running right so he had to take it apart again and the bearings were knocking... so he had to take it all apart now etc... i wouldnt trust freddy worth a shit, he's a rip off, and i hope you read this fred. So i got fed up with the car, sold it to someone and the engine blew because he left the cas 180 degrees out and blew all the seals, and he stated it wasnt his fault and never warrntied the engine.. when he did build it, it was still smoking and couldnt fix it... i thought he was a good rotary tech myself thats why i took there in the first place but ended up getting fucked... I had a red turbo 2, with to4, greddy intercooler, power fc etc...

Wrathritic 09-17-06 03:58 PM

Yeah I agree, we should have a meet go for cruise or something before it gets to cold

the_saint 09-17-06 04:37 PM

Sounds like a good idea. Depending on the weekend I may or may not be in town. :)

ourxseven 09-18-06 08:57 AM

Thanks, at first I had second thoughts about the headlights but after I seen them painted I got hooked on them.
The hood is the stock hood, I just cut the holes out in between the ribbing.
The headlights are not Eastbear just some cheap halo lights fitted / preped and painted.

Just got back from the MPI auction and there is a new owner of this FD for $6400. ....... good luck to the buyer and hope to see it on the road next spring . There was too much damage for my wallet.

keep us updated if you are on the board.

You're not the only one getting screwed by MPI, they wanna write off my FC. Somehow they managed to "find" $6300 of damage, if i would replace the hood and put the headlights down, you wouldn't even know it was in an accident!!!!!
I F****** HATE MPI!!!!

But yeah i have an 87 GXL, but i'm not from winnipeg, closer to steinbach. I know theres a couple FC's there too.

ourxseven 10-05-06 12:59 PM

i didn't buy or own it ..... the 6400$ was what it was bought at the MPI auction for by somebody ... i also heard that the last owner got close to a 14,000$ MPI pay out on it though ..... pretty surpising considering the "book" value was 8000$ when I phoned GG mazda to check on its value. .... a 88 FC that had some damage in the front was also bought for about 800$

madman78 10-05-06 02:27 PM

how much for it and do you have any pic?

Valdez 10-05-06 05:27 PM

UnSeen24-7, MPI should have a buy back option. I.E. if they deem your car written off, you can choose to fix it yourself and MPI will cut you a cheque instead paying for the repairs. You get to keep your car in whatever condition it is in and get a chunk of change for the damages. If they take the car they will give you a bigger cheque. This happen to my old Mustang in the 96 hail storm. It wasn't badly damaged, just pock marks on the upper surfaces, but since it was an older car it wasn't really worth it for them to fix. I was sick of that car, and didn't care, so I took the car as is and the $700 dollars they offered me. The repairs would have cost me more than $700, but I was happier with the money then having a pretty Mustang that was still worthless. If you think you can fix it for cheap ask them about the buy back option.

Unseen24-7 10-07-06 01:39 PM

I am buying it back, for $1k. I just hate how MPI thinks they're doing me a favor.

Unseen24-7 10-10-06 07:14 PM

So is there gonna be a winnipeg 7's meet?

ourxseven 10-11-06 09:31 AM

have to be in the spring for me ... both of mine ('79 & '89) are in for some fall/winter improvements and off the road.

Wrathritic 10-11-06 07:46 PM

madman78 10-23-06 08:29 PM
