Racing Beat
I'm about to order just over $1600.00 worth of exhaust parts from Racing Beat. Should I order directly from Racing Beat or through Mazdee's? They're listed as an authorized dealer. I'm concerned with speed and cost of delivery (brokerage etc).
Looking for input. What have others done?

It sounds supremely odd, but the last time I ordered RB exhaust stuff I did it through Mazdatrix. The only reason? Because they didn't mind shipping USPS when RB wanted to ship UPS. Saved a ton on the brokerage. Still had to pay tax on the declared value, but the only way I know to get around that is to ship to a UPS Store in the states, have it installed there, and drive it home

I want quiet exhaust. I'm actually just getting a bunch of mufflers, presilencers, and stuff to make systems for the Rx-4 and the 7 once it's turbo.
If you talk to Racing Beat, they will usually accommodate alternative shipping methods, if you are purchasing enough. My last really heavy order was shipped with a freight company by Racing Beat.
That being said, if there is no cost detriment to purchasing from a relatively local shop, why not support them?
For me, there is nobody near us, so, we actually got out race team set up as a Racing Beat dealer.

You'll probably eat up most of the "initial purchase" required to be a dealer, in your order alone.
Last time I went to Mazdee's and asked to import some racing beat exhaust stuff they said it isn't worth the money to have it shipped, so they built me my midpipe/cat and I'm pretty happy with the quality of their exhaust work.
I wasn't purchasing 1600 bucks worth of stuff though, so you can see what they say.

Thanks folks. I decided to order direct as the cost will be the same and it'll be delivered to my door. That will also save me from a 6hr + round trip to the shop and back.

Actually, I talked with a rep at Racing Beat right after I placed my order on-line. They're going to figure out the cheapest way to ship through USPS. The one barrier is my street port center section. It's a long piece that has two presilencers and straight pipes welded together.

When I ordered from my sp exhaust I went through Mazdee's. Unlike you though, I'm not so far away I can't do the round trip in a few hours. Still cost me $50 in gas money though, which is $50 more than shipping direct would have cost me. Definitely watch out for duties, my exhaust with the exchange rate wound up costing me $1300CDN total, so any money you can save will help.
I have always dealt with Racing Beat directly and found them to be good to deal with.
I have been able to tie together a business trip and a visit to them in L.A., so I was able to bring the stuff back with me as excess baggage.
Very definitely use USPS, where possible. They are by far the most consistently lowest cost solution. I once ordered a pre-formed roll cage from a U.S. company that cost $700 and change. It was shipped up freight collect and by the time I cleared it through customs, paid the freight, brokerage, duties and fees, it came to over $1200. Be careful about who you use for freight and make sure that all costs are factored in before you decide on the type of shipping.

Bass, it turns out the RB Streetport exhaust system isn't nearly as quiet on a streetported engine as it was on my stock port 12A. Just so you don't expect a quiet idle. I did and was really annoyed with how loud it was.

^ Racing Beat exhausts are phenomenal, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them for one second. It never hurts to contact to vendors in the US and see if they'll mark the item value low for shipping so that you avoid "brokerage" AND local sales taxes.
