Nitrous? Parachute? Wheelie Bars? You Might Be A Street Racer If...
While at the Canadian International Auto Show, I ran across this pamphlet on street racing at the Toronto Police booth. It appears to be written by CAA. I couldn't keep from laughing once I got to the section about how to recognize a street racer.
http://www.aaroncake.net/misc/Ontari...gPamphlet1.jpg http://www.aaroncake.net/misc/Ontari...gPamphlet2.jpg FYI, 24 deaths in the past 4 years from street racing may seem like a lot, but keep in mind that every year, 142 men in Canada die by homicide, by cutting/piercing instrument. 74 men each year die from surgical/medical misadventure and another 61 each year are killed by fatal gun accidents. |
I guess we're all street racers then >_>

man the CAA pisses me off sometimes, especially because I'm a member of it.

A wheelie bar?

lol.. these guys are serious.. One of there offices is in the same building where I work..
|
nitrous can produce up to 400 extra HP in an average engine? where are these average engines at? lol
|
I like to see an average engine pull off an extra 400hp with just nitrous. If by some miracle it does, I'd also like to see it grenade, because it will.
|
*oversized tachometers*
:lol::lol::lol: |
I knew I could get 500hp out of a 1.5L civic just by bolting on some NOS!!!! :rlaugh:
|
FS: one parachute. New...still in box.
|
That pamphlet is nothing but a whole bunch of ignorant BS! If you're going to target a subject like this, I say get the facts straight first. I think they watched The Fast and the Furious too many times.
|
I don't know what you guys are talking about. Every Friday in London there are illegal street races where you see nothing but engine super and turbo chargers, parachutes, and wheelie bars. ;) You're all crazy to think it's not true...
|
hahahahahah thats golden. my fav part was the modification section.
|
the only time i see oversized tachometers is in the chevy cavs or sunbirds that have auto trans.
|
damn so im not allowed to use my racing pedals anymore :wallbash: so much for my dreams of a 9 second stock 12A
|
so since when is having a roll cage a bad thing? i understand that a chance of someone racing with a rollcage are higher, but that doesn't mean it will be on the streets lol.
thats like saying if you have an airbag you will streetrace :/ I'm building an fb that will be used as my summer dd and track day car, it already has a roll cage, so do that mean if i get into an accident i will automaticaly be labeled as a street racer? 400hp+ with NOS, does that apply to our engines?:P i also have never seen a single street racer with a parachute or a wheelie bar. They have no place on the street, especialy on montreal roads. i think chances of a riced out car getting into streetracing are higher then the performanced enhanced cars they are talking about. if i had the money to get everything on their list, why wouldn't i just take the car to the track? |

you got me there.
I am a street racer. friends and family all call me "pothole drifter". |
don't forget the racing pedals. they make the nitrous open the parachute faster!!
If i was a parent and saw this i'd laugh at the CAA right then and there. tell them to get their facts straight before unloading their BS on the masses. |

Infiniti G35 driver nabbed at 250km/hour

Dude was hauling ass on the 400 southbound. Caught doing 250. Is that a new record? I don't remember anyone getting caught going faster. |

250? He was using way to much nitrous and should have deployed his parachute.
|
the top secret supra got pulled over doing like 200+mph in scotland i think it was
|
wow, so you only get 6 demirit points for going 250km/h.
|
But the "stunt" title stays on your driving record indefintiely (I believe) and likely quadruples your insurance!
|
250 is a new record, and the 26 y.o. apologized to the officer:
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/article/595630 Likely riding the governor, luckily mine comes in at 255... HA! |
I have been flashed by the cops on that highway going faster than that: however, I wasn`t about to stop. lol
|
correct me if i'm wrong but i heard that if you are traveling over 200kmh the cops wont give chase here in canada, for safety reasons. So if you don't stop, find an exit, and park your car without cops noticing it, you are safe :P.
alot of ifs ;) |
Because its real smart doing 250 km/h when its -15 *C below... and on winter tires to boot...

I have no words for that pamphelt aside from 'uhhh'/
Seriously, does NO ONE ON THE FUCKING PLANET realise that most of the "street racing" going on is with your bone stock G35 (as pointed out above) or in mommy and daddy's 04 dodge caravan with your thugged out little retarded fanboy buddy's??? *breathing in deeply* |

actualy in Montreal it is like that, i have read on some forume the actual confirmation of this, tried to find it now, but couldn't. now it's not to say that they will not try to stop you, just that they wont give chase after you like in usa as it indengers both the police officer, and the public.
DON'T forget that all of the facts about streetracing comes from movies, why would they bother to actualy research the topic if they can just watch 2 or 3 movies and be over with it ;) |

It's pretty much always up to the police whether to pursue or not in a given situation. Speed of the target, traffic conditions, how reckless the driver is apart from the speed (weaving, running lights, etc.), whether the officer feels likely to be in an accident while pursuing, whether other units or a chopper can be directed to intercept - all part of the mix. So I don't think there's a hard and fast rule for most forces as to a particular speed they'll automatically break off at.
|
 Thats hilarious, racing pedals and short shifters indicate your child may be racing. Wow.
|
Why do we put up with this....
|
This is a perfect example of how the police media campaigns are absurd and are akin to using 'Reefer Madness' as part of an anti-drug campaign. Demonizing people for their cars is the same as profiling based on the way one dresses.
The 50km/h over the limit charge has always been a serious one. I don't have a huge problem with throwing the book at people caught doing it. Same thing with people who are actually racing each other in the street. For 50km/h over it's a little heavy handed, but that's about it. As we all know the problem is that the law applies to a broader spectrum of difficult to prove/disprove offenses. |

Reminds me of that garbage truck a couple years back they caught street racing. I always wondered if the police exaggerate using that intercept method. I would have demanded to see the speed gun myself. I know in alberta, they have to show it to you.

"a shifter, son where did you get this?, who taught you how to do this stuff?!"
"I learned to short shift by watching you dad!" |
