My newest 7 in the stable. :)

I was at Calgary Pick n Pull to see if they had put out into the yard an SA I'd seen being towed in across the scale. I wanted the carb and the dizzy out of it for a ported 12a I got from an 83 fb a few weeks earlier but I never even made it out into the yard where the rest of the cars were. As soon as I turned out the door to go into the yard I saw this view.

My jaw nearly dropped because usually the cars that still run and are worth the junkyard selling are pieces of crap.

I took one walk around the car and saw this on the window.

Without lifting the hood or even getting in it, I walked straight to the P n P office and informed them that it had just been sold.

I just had to have it. I didn't care if it ran or not, 2 fb's just isn't enough. 7's are like crack to me and I needed and FC fix. :D

The car was filthy with dust. It must have sat parked out in the country for a very long time. The floor had a lot of crumbs and stuff from people eating in the car and there was dog hair everywhere but nothing that could not be cleaned. The next day I washed it, waxed it, cleaned the inside and did the windows as well dressing the tires and polishing the rims. I gave it a few squirts of armor all and the interior shined up like new. The old owner even donated $3 to the cost of the car from all the change under the seats...lol

I haven't done the engine bay yet. It's coated severely in dust as you can see by the black plastic pieces that are light brown.

I really do want to do a very thurough job cleaning the engine bay and I'll be unbolting temporarily everything on the firewall and fenders etc etc to clean behind it. Once that's done all I have left cosmetically is paint the only visible rust black. It's the trim pieces below the side windows.

I can't drive it yet as the master cyl rebuild kit I bought doesn't contain the right parts, so yet again, I'm waiting on parts. (apparently 88's came with one of SIX different master cyl....that's madness)

The hand brake works so I did take it around the parking lot where I live to test the clutch and hear the engine under load. Sounds fine to me except for an exhaust leak at the cat.

All in all I think I got a pretty good deal, even if you can buy them on this forum and drive them away for that price.

If anyone's bored and wants to see the pics I took of the car you can browse this folder. These photos were taken to document the shape I got it in. Wait until after pictures. :)

It's worth it. :) I got my master cyl today and installed it. Just got back from a hour long test drive. The car runs fine, everything seems to work. It even handles pretty nice considering the back shocks are toast.

I know where to get an RB header for a good price for that car. I'll ask him what he wants.

I noticed a HUGE gain in power when I installed the header on mine.

This car was a score. Sean and i had just shown up to check it out and buy it when he was getting the truck lined up to load it up and take it home. We wished him well none the less, he's a good 'ol dedicated rotorhead now!

Im glad I didnt buy it. Im going to buy a bike instead. Its a little older model, but it has a familiar exhaust note.
