Help! What is it?

today, i drove my S5. It started no problem and ran good. However, the "red Brake light" came and stayed on, i checked my hand brake, it was fully released. Anybody knows why the light keep stayed on?

i assume it is time for me to change the barke pads for them because i have to push the brake paddle all the way down to fully stop my car. Does that red brake light stay on have something deal with it??

thank you in advance!

sounds like a "fluid leak".,or Air in the Brake hydaulics.you will have to check the seals on the Calipers,as well as the Brake lines..Have you checked the Brake fluid level in the master cylinder?..Have you Replaced any Brake related Components Lately?..and NOW this is happening>?..

Regular DOT 3 Brake fluid will suffice.Unless the car has some "UBER'brake sytem!(dufourmike's favorite word,by the way!) ..Check the level on the Master,if it is Low,but you Can still see fluid, top it up to the appopriate level..IF it is low and you can't see fluid, you will need to Bleed the system...Oh Check to make sure that the sensor for the Brakes is hooked up to the Harness, around the Vicinity of the Booster and master.

Whatever you do don't drive around with that light on. Any red warning light means you should actually stop driving the car and investigate. The red brake light is even more severe in that you can actually hurt yourself or others if you ignore it. I had the red brake light come on about 10 years ago in a GXL I had. I got less than 10 brake applications before the pedal just went straight to the floor. In my situation I had a caliper leaking fluid. Definately sounds fluid related.
If the fluid is low find out why before you start driving again.
Good luck

LOL mine has been on for months. Something in the rear is leaking but i'v just been topping it up whenever i feel the pedal gettin low. By no means is this a suggestion, just thought it was funny. Mine isn't constant though, sometimes it doesn't come on.
