Aero vid
I'm curious about its effect on my fuel economy at various speeds (and obviously downforce for the track)... it's amazing to me that drag will actually decrease on an FD with a properly-designed spoiler.
Still, I think the Series 8 adjustable spoiler ('99-'02) that I am considering might add a bit more drag than the original lower-profile spoiler.

Among the many books I have of the FD, there is a page with the aero stats indicating what spoiler did what to the car.
The stock OEM's (both for the American market and the ones in Japan) helped decrease aero lift as well as reduce drag a bit.
The only OEM spoiler that actually produced downforce are the ones fitted on the 99+ spec models. Since the spoiler itself is adjustable. You gain downforce but you also increase drag.
Like the man said on the vid, if you're attempting to compete all the time with the car, getting a wing will help immensely with downforce.
Otherwise for street use it's best to stay with the pre 99 spec OEM spoilers.

Speaking of spoilers......that is my car in the video he used with the pic of my old Efini wing I used to have! Not that you cant find pics of my car on the net, it would have been nice if he blocked out my plate. Oh well...no biggie I guess. if someone wants your car, they will get it!

It is great to see examples of how the air flows with and w/o a wing on the back.
IMO the effini wing (pre 99) was better for highway usage and was a smart idea by Mazda to decrease the drag on the rear by using the wing to relief pressure off the rear end.
I would love to see another experiment using a wing that is flush with the roof line of the FD.
Should yield some interesting results!

Mazdabation,
You can ask him to blurr it? I thought that car looked familiar. Although I never saw it with the Efini wing. Looking pimp as usual.
SctRota,
Well, you didn't take a look on his site.
