Well I figured out the car was running WAY lean! I have fixed that issue and have taken the car around the neighborhood a few times. Something is still wrong as low down power is absolutely horrid and literally requires the foot to be to the floor to get any kind of power. I have a feeling it may be a timing issue, but I am not certain...I was looking for a "yellow" mark on my main pulley but did not find one. I did however find two blue marks that are divots in the pulley. I timed the engine on the one to the RIGHT if you are looking at the pulley while standing in front of the car.

To go with that, I have to have my foot to the floor to barely make it up to 4000-4500 RPM. keep in mind these are 1000cc injectors...I am NOT short on fuel!

That sounds awesome! Did you buy the MS assembled? I'm on the same road and I want to know if you built it or ordered it. Also what timing issue did you have?

I built mine, it was a great way to save money. There were a few headaches, but it has been worth it in the end. The issue was the settings for the ignition in the megasquirt, as well as not having the timing set properly. Things are good now though! Now I need to borrow a go pro suction mount since mine is broken.

Looks awesome! Can't wait until I start building my turbo engine now... Gotta finish up this jeep and save up some cash first though.

its been great so far! the only crappy part is any boost at all and the clutch is slipping. I ordered one through newegg since they have been great to deal with in the past..and for the first time it's taken two days, and still hasnt shipped. I'm a little ticked....time is ticking and I need to get it tuned before the track day on october 29th!

Yeah it is quite strange to order car parts from Newegg. I assume they house the stuff for others and charge em rent space. Kind of makes sense!

I'm a little pissed it took 3 days for the order to finally ship. I'm already cutting it close as-is to that track day...Thankfully there are only a few things left to do.

This.

I used a PVC intake on my last t2 and within a month the plastic closest to the turbo had melted and deformed causing a big un-metered air leak. Be wary!

I will keep an eye on it now that you both say something. Thankfully it was only $12 worth of material. If it gets bad I'll probably buy a silicone coupling to space it out further. The sound of the turbo spooling is freakin sweet with the intake currently though.

Hey, I'm not sure if you've used a Koyo Rad before but I heard some pretty crappy things about the quality behind them. I too was thinking of getting one later on but I read some reviews and some videos of them having crappy welds causing them to leak. This true in most cases or have they fixed the problems for the most part now a days?

I am not sure. I havent heard anything but I'd rather risk a small leak with it than have a plastic end cap blow while out on the track. The welds look solid. I was suprised the radiator actually weighs more than the stock one.

Both front hubs are on the car. I need to get the new radiator in and take it around the block to make sure all is well. Then onto the rear 5 lug swap (ugh) and do the clutch. I have two weeks to do the 5 lug, clutch, get the rad in, and get it tuned...talk about a time crunch.

P.S. how can I tell what rear calipers I have? I am not sure if they are for slotted or solid rotors. Please let me know!

With vented rotors the calipers have a wavy look to them. The non-vented are more squared off. I guess that's one way to describe it. eBay pictures may help

I got my Godspeed one the other day and i'm super happy with it - Just installed a Koyo same model i believe as you have in a customer's car brand new and was a breeze, but i too have heard some less than good things about Koyo. I'm sure it'll be fine though!

Koyo in her vert

Godspeed in my T2

Thanks Rotorhead! I do have vented calipers. I ordered rear rotors for 10$ a piece off of rockauto.com. I've had good luck with them with any "consumable" parts. They have a lot of stuff on there, even new wiper switches!

linuxadikt - Is there any weight difference between the two? I was surprised the Koyo was heavier than the stock radiator. Also, has there ever been a verdict for electric fans? The more I mod, the more I want to open the engine bay up. Now I'm actually considering removing A/C and P/S!

You know I don't remember. Both were S5's, i had to modify my brackets on my T2 because its an S4 Chassis. It seems to me that they were around the same weight but i think the Koyo was a bit heavier. But also was thinner - the koyo we got for her car wasnt the racing one, was just the OE replacement. the Godspeed was way beefier.

Depends on what fan you use. The Clutch fan pulls TONS of air. I have a "2400" cfm ebay fan, with the new radiator it does the trick. i have it wired to a switch under the hood for now, and it barely will get to operating temp lol so i need to move. i have a thermostat for it, just too lazy to install right now. My Rx8 battery died when it got cold so i'm using the T2 project car for a daily

when i got rid of the clutch fan & shroud it looks SO much cleaner (AND dirtier Lol). i took out the AC, never use it anyway. left my PS because i need that shiz. I saw a thread on here somewhere that someone moved it down to where the AC is, And another thread that someone put an electric PS on it! --

EDIT: also i left the OEM AC condenser fan i'm going to wire up to a switch so if it starts getting hot (summers here are like 110 sometimes) then i can have a bit more Push cfm and the main fan will pull lots. Also going to have some air diverter stuff made so i can have a wind tunnel past my intercooler, then Oilcooler, then Rad. Eventually going to cut my hood and make a vent out with some kind of box like a V mount, but not with a vmount. Want to go Intercooler--->Oilcooler-->Rad--->out hood

*LOUD WARNING* lol

Hmmmm...I guess I'll have to do some reading. I kind of want to do a vmount setup in the future. I dont like FMIC since I'd have to remove the bumper support.
The lack of fan shroud looks great!

Only 18 days and my list is down to this:
Mount new throttle cable bracket
Replace clutch
clean shitty paint off 5 lug rear calipers then paint black
5 lug swap the rear
replace rear bushings if I have time.
and last but not least get it tuned!

I like the concept of vmount but I don't like the intercooler being in the engine bay. I don't care about my bumper support haha. I have an ebay kit I got for $400 and it worked amazingly, to my surprise.

did you run a short throttle cable?

I need to replace all my bushings on everything and get coilovers/rims. I'm in the process of tuning.

what ecu are you running?

I'd rather go vmount since this will be used on a road course, so coolant temps may be a concern.

Yes I currently have the throttle cable mounted to the firewall, but when the engine shakes back and forth it pulls the cable more than it should. I had a friend make me a quick bracket out of aluminum so that the NA throttle cable will mount to the engine and be able to move freely.

The front bushings were easy, I highly recommend having a torch, it melts the rubber and it falls right out. pushing them back in wasnt difficult either. I am not sure about the rears yet.

If you look at the first or second page I am running the Megasquirt 2 ECU on the V3 motherboard. For around $350 you get all the functions of a full standalone, without the $1000 pricetag. Check out MegaSquirt | Engine Management System | Electronic Fuel Injection - DIYAutoTune.com and the megasquirt section of the forums here!

Here is how it currently sits. Also that cardboard will turn into a radiator panel once I get the holes all cut out and have my friend turn it into a nice piece of aluminum

The more I look at these photos, the more I hate the quality. My phone is pretty crappy . I'll have to see if I can find the charger for the DSLR.

Word, just get some Beefy fans and some awesome ducting! -- sweet i need to get that throttle cable setup, i've read about it. you should get an engine damper!

I'll remember that when i do the bushings for sure. Coilovers & bushings are coming around the corner. And some 17x9.75 Rims.

okay i remember the Megasquirt now, its been awhile since i read the previous pages! i'm jealous I'm too lazy to try to build it. I'm running rtek 2.1 -works for now and they are porting to Android so i dont have to use my old shitty palm anymore Finally.

I need to get some Diverter's cut up. Also a metal dash so i no longer have a gaping hole in the middle, right now i'm waiitng for sunday to get my exotic speed 240sx exhaust fab'd up for my 7 so i can have a super huge Exhaust. I dont know if you've heard of them, but i have the exhaust on the rx8 and its by far my favorite Exhaust manufacturer Everrrr

Right now i'm rockin the OBX DP and a piece of a Nismo GTR exhaust that was cut and incidentally made me a nice turndown

woops, i missed your first post of the two. I'd like to get an engine damper but I havent found any, anywhere.

Also, if you look behind my upper manifold you can see my new bracket chilling in place. I may have to cut and resolder the end piece of the throttle cable, but I'm okay with that.
