RotaryEvolution 01-14-06 01:23 AM

running larger tension bolts to reduce flex or are you running pins through the whole engine?

tearbo2 01-14-06 11:02 AM

i'm running (4) add 13b dowels through the whole engine, and running factory tension bolts (18) this setup has worked really well for me. I don't see any evidence of "flex" after the Xtra dowel process.

IaMtHeRuThLeSs1 01-14-06 02:02 PM

project looks fantastic so far! I hope that high temp paint will hold up, looks super clean.

The pictures of the s5 housing next to the cosmo is a great comparison. Keep us updated man.

RotaryEvolution 01-14-06 02:13 PM

ahh, never seen the dowel pinning process yet.

the "RED pro coils" are the leading and the blue coils are the trailing. I will be running FULL seq w/ IGN , and fuel w/ the e-11 setup. aiming for 650 whp + :fingersx: and the turbo is a precision 74GTS

There firecrackers!!!

Very nice, Like the toys too! What type of porting are you going to do to the motor?

IF you look @ the engine pics REAL close ,you will see that they are untouched. I want to see how much torqe and how much power the 13bre can lay down. if I gain 100hp I will be satisfied. ;)

stay tuned

was that a stock port as well? if so how long did that last?

pics look great, i'm just wondering what your spool time will be with such small exhaust ports.

This is the question that is always asked on my setup, all I can say is that I have yet had a problem w/ the stock ports. in my opinion MAZDA did there homework when it came to port timing. there is no over lap, so that means it is already efficient. all we have to do is stuff it w/ BOOST w/ a good tune. as for boost I get 28psi (fullboost ) by 5500 rpm and red line @ 8000rpm. note: that 5500 to 8000 is a BLAST!!!! the s/5 engine was alot of fun., but now i'm ready for the 13bre, and while i'm on that note I would like to thank brian g from cali for hookin me up w/ the engine, if anybody is in the market for the re pm me and I will give you his number. :)

Sideways7 01-19-06 11:25 PM

Damn, I didn't realize the ports were that much larger. No wonder it has more power.
Also, I'm planning on getting an RE, but it will be several years.

Alex Rodriguez 01-20-06 12:20 AM

where did you get those coils at and for how much

Bukwild 01-20-06 06:46 AM

great work tearbo.

Nice to see another Precision turbo guy. Hopefully my setup will be on the dyno here in a few weeks. Good luck with the RE. Its my next motor.

Tournapart 04-15-06 03:44 PM

i cant remember but does the 13bre bolt right in? or do you need custom mounts?

also, how much was the engine? if im in the market for another engine, i may just go this route, but only if it bolts in or the custom mounts i can get somewhere fairly easy, and one last thing, does it run off of the 332ECU or does it have its own?

tearbo2 04-15-06 03:49 PM

belive it or not under 10 K , due to great sponsors and me being the builder tuner and owner !!! and it's all been paid in "GREEN" no plastic :)

NOTE: 10 k in "upgrades" I would have to say total about 30 k

jarred 07-08-06 03:44 AM

Do you still have the RE pulleys? I saw that you're using the v-belts still so I thought I'd ask. I certainly could use them for my project. Pls. let me know.
