Picked up a Turbo II 2+2 and immediately got to work!
So i was looking for something JDM, Fun, Turbo, Fast, etc etc on Craigslist and i came upon an Original 1986 RX-7 Turbo II FACTORY 2+2 with only 63k Miles. Car was listed at 6,000 i managed to steal it for 4,600! (I thought this was an excellent deal Considering that the 2+2 was extremely rare especially in the turbo II and the mileage was very low)
The car from the previous owner was fitted with Koni Yellow Shocks and Eibach Lowering springs, precision 550 Injectors, Front mounted intercooler, Dual Magnaflow exhaust, OEM S5 Turbo and a tune. The guy said it made around 290whp when i picked it up but the slave cylinder was pretty bad, making the clutch slip so i never really got the full effect of the car. I started tearing into it the first week.
No more than 3 days into owning the car, i was out at a bar with some friends and someone backed into it, in the parking lot.. (my fault for parking so close to the general population at a bar i guess but i wanted to keep it close so i could keep an eye on it)
Anyhow, i immediately started ordering parts for the car!
First things first was a brand new OEM Slave & Master cylinders along with a Spec Stage 1 Clutch
Out with the old, in with the new

While i was under the car, i had noticed that the passenger side rear axle boot was missing its clamp, and while i could have just re-packed the boot with fresh grease and put a new clamp on the boot, i decided to go ahead and order some brand new axles for the rear. I also got some nice Stance GR2 coilovers

Upon installing the coilovers i realized that the brakes on the car, rotors included were in pretty rough shape. I decided to do a complete overhaul of the OEM 4 piston calipers/rotors and lines as well.
I went ahead an hopped on Mazdatrix and ordered some Goodridge SS Brakelines for all 4 wheels, New slotted/Drilled brake rotors and HAWK Racing brake pads for all 4 as well.
Here is how they looked before, i'll take you through the whole process:
Coils installed, OEM Stuff:
Front:

Before coilovers:

Rear:
(by the way, that rust spot is the only rust on the whole car. NOT BAD! (it's a florida car)

Here is the car AFTER the coilover install (keep in mind i havn't adjusted anything at this point, we literally installed them and set it down and this is how she sat. We'll be adjusting everything and dialing in the suspension once she's ready to hit the streets.

So back on the subject of brakes, Here is where we started:
Cleaning the original caliper

With the pistons and rubber sections taped off, we got to work

We shaved the raised lettering down to the metal with sandpaper

To be continued...

Looking at the engine bay, i decided i wanted to get rid of the clutch fan setup and replace it with a Koyo and electric fan setup.

This is how it sits in there, nothing is actually hooked up yet so to speak, still lots of work to be done, have OEM Mounting brackets for the radiator on their way and once those are here i can install the fans and Samco radiator hoses that we bought.

The car is more of a function build rather than a slammed/stanced/drift build so no agressive kit was needed. going for a clean japanese tuner look on this. thanks for the kudos! Just installed racing beat front and rear sway bars tonight! and a mazdatrix camber adjustment arm for the rear, pics up tmrw!
by the way, anyone who see's this, im all up for constructive criticism. I am 100% self taught and any advice you folks have for this build would be excellent! i've worked on MANY 240SX's in my day even some supras, SC300's, miatas etc... this is my first RX7, but it's all pretty much the same stuff. but like i said, if you can avoid coming off as rash, please, advice or tips if you see something out of place!
So i installed Racing Beat Front and rear sway bars today, after removing my front sway bar, it was obvious to me that these were a wise purchase.
The front sway bar bushing was literally 80% GONE.

After getting that off and comparing the two bars, the racing beat one is a MONSTER compared to the OEM bar

Here is how the front bar looks on the car!

each item was purchased seperately from shine auto. the roof spoiler was 150 bucks brand new. just google "Shine Auto project" for all their aero options
The shine auto kit is EXTREMELY nice. its made of fiberglass reinforced plastic so it has a ton of flex to it, unlike your regular kits u have to worry about breakage on just about anything these dont break! the fitment is literally PERFECT! ill be fitting the side skirts and rear valances today, im waiting for my dremel to be returned to cut the front bumper a bit to fit around the intercooler.
The damage in the back is from when the car was hit while parked at the bar like previously mentioned. the damage sucks, but will be fixed when the car hits the body shop.
the car is being painted white and we're going with the Varrstoen 2.2.2 Wheel painted a light blue. the car will be painted white.
Will look something like this, cept this kit is a bit different!
