So I tried using another set of gauges from an NA to fix the speedometer and the problem was still there, so now its either the cable or the gear in the transmission.

Not only that but the gauges read really high temp wise so I wouldnt of wanted to keep using them and the idiot lights I bought had problems too, started saying add coolant and after I added coolant it still didn't shut off.

I put back the original gauges and everything is back to normal, other than the speedometer that still reads slow and when I let off the gas the speed will slightly go.up for a second...whether its the transmission gear or.cable.or.could still be the gauges idk.

What EMS are you running? If you had a standalone you could run a digital cluster :)

wthdidusay82 07-17-13 07:59 PM

I've got the upgraded stock ecu , rtek 1.7

it works pretty well, I really like the flood clear feature , seeing as car likes to flood easily when the engine is still on break in.

I'm probably going to replace the gear in the transmission and possibly the cable (if replacing the gear doesn't fix it)

Rotary > Pistons

wthdidusay82 07-20-13 08:13 PM

Fixed my stupid issue with coolant system not pressurizing .

Next issue I've run into after putting on my wheel spacers is some of the wheel studs have bad threads on one side and the other side has one that's broken.

I'm just going to use stock length studs, looks like this might be a pain since ill need to remove the brake rotors which are likely stuck to the hub.

wthdidusay82 07-22-13 04:28 PM

You should try finding an fc , they're alot of work but even after all the headaches you've overcome in the end you have a car that makes you happy.

I've never had the motivation to put the time I've put into my rx7s, they're the car I never give up on and just keep pushing forward.

Decided to put my power steering back on , though it does save weight etc its a nice thing to have ; especially for drifting and auto x.

Need clutch slave bled or replaced , the pressure in the clutch pedal seems to have gone down and now has a hard time going into gear and if started in gear with the clutch down it acts as if its still in gear.

I want to install the PS belt and the dual alt pulley at the same time, so I'm waiting on that.

thanks.

Today I removed the speedometer gear in the transmission and discovered it has a broken tooth.

The clutch slave is losing pressure so I might have to replace it or the line, or both...I plan on bleeding it and seeing what happens.

Here's a pic of the broken speed gear

Rotary > Pistons

wthdidusay82 07-26-13 09:36 AM

replaced the speed gear in the transmission and replaced the cable and got the same result.

Either the transmission has a gear internally broken or I somehow broke teeth on the gear when I installed it.

On a side note I did fix the brake light, it only took adding some brake fluid to the master cylinder.

New 18" wheels installed.

Unfortunately will need some new studs and probably messed up some of the lugs trying to get them to thread on and they failed...anyways here's the pics.

I want to get some wide wheel spacers for the back.

I just replaced the rear tires with 225/40, such a big difference, the old tires 215/35 having a short sidewall and being stretched on makes it so much smaller.

I want to get all 225/40 tires but I think ill need spacers in the front because the wheel offset is +45 and they're 7.5" wide

After switching between 3 black box cpus I got my horn working. Yay

I'm now looking into buying a plx wideband and an alcohol injection system.

Then possibly some strut tower bars.

7speed 08-24-13 10:00 AM

I'm just curious, but what turbo setup are you planning on running the meth injection with?

wthdidusay82 08-24-13 10:09 AM

I'm using it on the stock Turbo, its a good thing to have with any Turbo setup.as a fail safe, I'm not tuning with it.

It lowers intake air temps, reduces knock, keeps the engine internally cleaner, and increases octane rating.

Nothing but win.

Rotary > Pistons

7speed 08-24-13 10:29 AM

Ya, I'm aware of its benefits I've just never heard of anyone using it on the stock setup. How much boost are you going to be running? I have friends that swear by it but they're at 22/23psi. Let us know your results on those intake temps!

wthdidusay82 08-24-13 10:37 AM

10-11 psi I need to upgrade from my tmic

Corythebory 08-24-13 11:20 AM

wthdidusay82 08-24-13 11:33 AM

Having the Turbo makes you appreciate it 100x more lol

Just got more stuff to install/do

Wheel studs, plx wideband, aquamist 1s alcohol injection system, check/adjust timing, finish power steering install.

I fixed my squeaky clutch pedal with some white lithium grease, replaced my blown license plate light , fixedy horn , and installed my dual alt pulley.

More to come soon.

Progress has been slow lately , I have a few updates.

1)Timing checked and was dead on.
2) purchased bearings and grease seals for rear hubs
3)oil leak developed upon startup while checking time , couldn't find the source initialluly then today discovered its coming from the oil cooler lines, corksport SS lines purchased
4) bought a tank for my alcohol injection kit, still need a tank fitment piece
5) bought and installed a gab strut bar

Car looks pretty bad ass under the hood.

Now I'm broke , awesome. Lol

To do

1) replace the oil cooler lines when they come in
2) get rear hubs and front hubs taken off and have a shop press out old bearings/studs from rear hubs, have take off fronts and have the studs replaced. All of them will have the ABS gear removed if they are in fact removable.
3) fuel pump rewire at some point
4) install power steering pulley(will possibly do this when I install the oil cooler lines)
5)fix fuel gauge/speedometer
6) bac valve diagnostics
7) oil catch can install (if I can fit it anywhere)

I'm sure theres more , I have a list on paper but its not with me ATM, as we all know these cars are adult toys and the work never ends.

Wish me luck, there will be more to come.

Corksport oil cooler lines installed, it wasn't that easy was kind of a pain and I got really dirty doing it.

I had to bolt on the lines to the block first , then bolt up the lines to the cooler with the cooler taken off where it mounts to the chassis, I basically had it lying on my chest while laying down in order to maneuver the cooler in such a way that the lines would allow the banjo bolts to thread in more easily.

Not sure how long those leaves were there but I'll tell ya now, if it gets under that gutter where the water drains under the windshield and traps down there... you're gonna have a bad time. Happened to me with my FC when I first got it. It accumulated rust over time and was a PITA to fix. Just giving you a heads up. Clean bay btw.

wthdidusay82 10-19-13 08:51 AM

I'm gonna blow them out with my air compressor, sucks being near a bunch of trees in the fall. What I really need is a car cover.

Today, or soon I will change my oil since I went down a quart or so before replacing the oil cooler hoses, and I'm a short way into break-in so it won't hurt.

wthdidusay82 11-10-13 04:42 PM

rear wheel studs are fixed, still have multiple problems to fix but the car is "drivable"

I've been doing more work on the car got the rear wheel bearings and dtss eliminators all squared away, painted the hubs and calipers.

Still working more and more towards getting the car done, it's getting closer and closer to where I'd like it to be slowly but surely.

My afrs aren't where I want them to be so I'm rewiring the fuel pump hoping hoping it hoping it will help, I'm in the 12's and want to be in the 11's for my afr.

Here are some new pics.

More progress replacing this hub to fix the bbad wheel studs In it rather than replacing the bearings etc...This was a more logical route seeing as I got this hub for 30 bucks at the junkyard and everything was in good condition...

Also fixed my fuel gauge replacing the fuel sending unit but broke broke a stud in the assembly going going to the power wire to the sender so I couldn't fit any hardware under the nut due to the lack of threads...will be getting a new assembly so it can havehave a it's hardware.

Brakes need hardware that was half missing , tie rod was bad and will be replacing that...already have new ball joints ..so I'm putting those on both sides. ..plan on getting new tie rods for both sides and some new performance brake pad..

Very soon will be fixing my exhaust leaks , rewire rewiring my fuel punp, fixing my, temp gauge, and gas leak on the drain bolt, also moving to the other side once I aquire a good non abs wheel hub...and hopefully in the near future fixing my speedometer.

Lastly my turbo has a bad wastegate flapper arm bushing so my boost is either drastically low or way too high , I plan on fixing that too.

My afrs being in the 12's also bothers me (at 8-12 psi , pretty much any boost level), hoping the fuel pump rewire lowers the afrs into the 11s but idk if it will, I am running running 550/720 injectors, rtek 1.7 , and walbro 255...I plan on getting another set of gsl se injectors and running all 720s and upgrading to the 1.8 rtek (yes the gsl se injectors are rated 680cc but on fcs they're 720+ cc due to high fuel pressure).

Now it's all on , just have to bleed the brakes, installed a new heater core to pipe hose to replace the universal that was somewhat kinked and hindering flow.

Also found out my mount for my filter filter I bought was too big and not the right size..

My power steering seems to be leaking from somewhere unknown and I'm not sure if I'm leaking transmission oil or if it's just oil from the power steering.

Will be rewiring the fuel pump soon and doing alot more.

Just got the brakes all bled, should brake really well with all the new pads ive put on, stoptech perormance pads on front made of some special material , on the rear wagner quick-stop ceramic pads.

Also replaced a kinked universal coolant Hose going from the heater core to the metal pipe , got got a nice new preformed mazda oem hose.

The fuel filter mount wasn't the right size , so zip tied it to a part of the wiring harness where it's held up high enough to have better clearance.

Put a bigger zip tie on the steering boot where I had to rip to slide it over , also replaced the washer on the bottom huge banjo bolt to the oil cooler , this one isn't to a line but actually to the thermostat (mine was leaking , didn't replace it after the oil cooler was cleaned and this bolt etc was removed).

More work tommorow , haven't tested anything out yet , being patient.

Also got some gsl-se injectors so I can run all 720cc injectors , they need to be cleaned and flow tested , then I'll upgrade my ecu to a 1.8 rtek (currently 1.7) , also planning on getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to ensure my car is getting the proper fuel pressure , stock fpr is okay but not great in my opinion.

Update-

Fixed my temp gauge by putting a new wire in going to the cluster.

Got two oil coolers to replace my leaking one, one on there now is beat up and temporary until I install my cleaner one.

Lowered idle , reset my tps, washed and waxed the car.

Purchased an aem meth injection kit , jacobs fc1000 ignition amplifier, turbo xs manual boost controller , clutch slave and master cylinder.

Boost is hitting 7 psi according to my gauge , so the wastegate is working great , I want at least 10 psi though.

Need to get my wideband fixed , the connections on it are not solid in the sensor box and it's really annoying.

Here's a new pic of the beast.
