Simon, did you use impact to remove the front hub nut? I don't have access to impact. How long did you heat it if you used heat? I removed the flywheel nut with ease with a 3/4 drive breaker, the flywheel brake, and an engine hoist leg, but I've been stuck on the front.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Are you talking about the front main pulley bolt?

NativeBeggars 02-26-14 03:05 PM

Yeah. I was, but I'm all torn down now. Thank you.

Diesel, toothbrushes, degreaser, sponges, rags, and a lot of time...

Sorry I haven't been posting on here school is keeping me busy and There are mice in the RX-7. WHY??? They're in the engine bay, under the dash. Its a mice infested RX-7 and its pissing me off. Anyone have any suggestions?
I set up a few of those sticky traps and got one but there are more and they recognize the traps now they're useless.

NativeBeggars 04-21-14 01:07 PM

Mice? Where do you live hahah. I'm in a field near a beach in FL and I ain't got no mice. Strip her all out and get 'em out! You gotta do something or you will have car with no wiring at all.

I'm in South Carolina and not in the country, I don't know how they got in the car... and I've tried a few things to get rid of them but no luck. I only got one so far with a sticky trap and there are more. Probably 5 more that I know of.

NativeBeggars 04-21-14 03:32 PM

I couldn't tell you about mice unfortunately. Only have dealt with the destruction they leave behind after they're gone. Where in SC? I could meet you in GA somewhere if it came to it.

archaphil 04-21-14 04:45 PM

pop a bunch of dryer sheets, moth balls, and Irish spring soap shavings at the front and rear of the car underneath and one inside. It should deter them. Could always adopt a cat and let it loose inside as well.

I do this when in storage, and never had any problems.Tuck the dryer sheets all over inside as well. Freshen the girl up whilst removing the nasty.

NativeBeggars 04-21-14 04:48 PM

Hahah I thought about the cat idea but thought everyone would think I was nuts. Do the cat idea! If you leave the car open, the cat will even bring them to you! Lol. Do try and find a sealed garage you can store it in.

Mouse problem: install cat.

I don't wanna deal with the destruction they leave behind. I have to check everything as soon as they're out...

How does that work, do they not like those smells or something??

NativeBeggars 04-21-14 10:59 PM

You would be amazed at how simple sensory changes can attract or repel certain things.

they hate the smell and it deters them away from the vehicle. If you wont be touching the shell for awhile, stick them in the engine bay as well and under the the dash.

I do not know what it is about the Irish spring soap, but shaved into shavings (like literally shave it with a knife) but they hate that shit.

I had to store my car in a unheated barn way out in the country one year and it was mouse infested. I did not have a single one enter my car, or my buddies after we left 2 plates at the front and rear.

My step father has been doing it for years with his 2 classic camaros, and he also has not had any issues with the little bastards.

best part is all that stuff combined is less then $12 usually.

clokker 04-22-14 08:46 AM

Out here it's not mice, it's the rabbits that get ya.
Little fuckers love the new soy based wiring skins, eat 'em like candy.
It's a real problem in long term parking at the airport...leave the car for a week and the rabbits will strip an engine bay.

simonFC 04-22-14 12:05 PM

I'm going to go ahead and try the dryer sheets with the Irish Springs soap. I will post on here to let everyone know how it goes. Wish me luck
