Some of it is. Should have clear over the semi-finished parts (pictured above) on friday... then I can start body work on the rest of the parts... now that I have my official Wanked_FC bumper.

Okay, I figure you'll probably say "Pics or it never happened" or something like that.

Here they are.. Got the hood, rear hatch, spoiler, sunroof, headlight covers, gas door done. About 2-4 coats of clear on them.

Next weekend, I'll crank out the bumpers, mirrors, trim pieces, and maybe the door handles...

Umm, may I ask just WHAT is the point of getting another S5 bumper if your car is already S5? Was it because of the license plate holes in the white one? If yes, that's an easy fix...

Anyway, realy nice build so far, I hope to see the finished product later!

Nope, not holes, it was slightly warped where the license frame came up.. somebody must have pushed the front of the car (like gently in a parking lot) and bent the frame into the bumper... then over years of hot/cold/hot/cold, it became permanent indentions into the front of the bumper. Holes would have been an easy fix.. they make rubberized yet sandable putty specifically for bumpers... but, it would have taken a LOT of time to re-form the front of this bumper since it was on the trim shaped areas... Instead I'll sell it to somebody who doesn't care... I don't plan on having a front license plate (yah.. I'll get bitched at by the popo, but oh well.. Its worth it for a good looking car), but for people who do.. the bumper is fine, because the plate covers that area.

It certainly looks gorgeous so far.

A few questions...
A while back you spent a lot of effort removing the interior sound deadening- do you plan on replacing it and if so, with what?

Does the underside of the hood look as good as the top (and is that a steel or aluminum part)?

Reassembling the car whilst protecting the new paint should be a barrel 'o fun...

Replacing the sound deadening with dynamat.

Underside is coated with a single stage urethane of the same color, but yes looks good as well. Maybe not AS good as the top, but its black. It too will have a dynamat layer on it to replace that funky paper thing.

Its an aluminum hood.

Yeah, reassembly will suck *****.. but, I plan on laying down sheets/blankets/poly tarp while I move stuff in.

Yea, I'll try and get one... the flash makes it look washed out and green at that angle, and you can see every nib. I'll get one though. No matter what though man, I think your car looks great! And the fact that you did it in your garage with no booth and no refrigerated air dryer and walmart gun... thats impressive.

The whole point of my build wasn't to build a fast car, it was to build a comfortable car that will last me many more years. My next one will be a fast one. Hopefully.

Heh, I wondered why you wanted another bumper too, but I wasn't about to ask since you were paying me for mine .

Here's the picture as requested:

Thats after its been sitting with no air movment and the door to the booth open (lots of dust), so its near-impossible to see nibs at this point.. but they are there.. along with the orange peel which, IMO, is unavoidable.

Excellent work thus far...the chrome is going to look fantastic over flat black. I'd like to see the chrome acccent theme continued on the rest of the exterior.

Erm...I don't think the car is flat black.
At least, not intentionally.

I agree about the chrome badges though even if I'm still on the fence about the RX-7 in script style.
Strikes me as kinda cartoonish but could look great in place...time will tell.

If it ends up flat black, I'll shoot myself. Not because its ugly, but because it *wasn't* my intention. Hehe.

I like the badges... however.. I'd like to state that I did not THINK of this idea... I heard somebody mention something about the CX-7 logo being a lot like the RX-8 logo... and I put 2+2 together.. but later found out that somebody had already done it on a 1st gen. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/my-new-rx7-emblem-596082/

So.. I'm not as unique as I thought I was... but its still bad ***. And I like the font.

Lookign great, damn i wish I had enough space to make a paint booth.
Its easy! If you have room to park a car, you have room for a booth... When I'm done with it, it'll double as a carport with filtered air ventilation and plumbed for compressed air. Oh.. and it has an air conditioner too...

Ah, ok. That makes sense now! I am loving the car and the paint booth, deffinitely NOT ghetto! Umm, also, if you don't mind me asking, how have the "funds" been on this project? Do you have a huge budget, or are you just one of those people that can make gold out of dog crap?

I'm being serious too!
