wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

I saw pictures of your car somewhere randomly throughout this site, but I didn't realize it was yours. Your car was clean before, now its ridiculous.

Kinda wish I still had mine, woulda been nice to line up next to yours. White wheels and all. I needa check this beast out next time I'm in Carson.

p.s. are those really 18x9.75? because I've never heard of that size before.

Let me know when your in the area, I'd be down to chill. I wish you still had your car too, you're one of the reasons I went white on my fc :) And yah, xxr made 18x9.75. I honestly have no idea why but its all good cause another .25inches and it would be hitting my coilovers.

Haha thanks. Yeah, white wheels look rad on Red or Blue FCs. And I might actually be heading up there this weekend for family stuff so I'll let you know I guess.

A buddy of mine has them on his 240 and is looking for trades at the moment. I'll ask him if he can sell them and for how much. Should've bought them while I had them, would have been so much easier for the both of us haha.

magus2222 07-20-11 11:10 AM

ya, i wasnt in the place to buy them, i am now. its either those or work xd9's

Quick question, now that the half bumper is installed, what is the distance from the bottom of the molding to the actual bottom of the bumper?

IMO, xd9s would be so much cooler haha. XD9s are definitely pretty high on my wheel favorites list.

Ohhh thanks for reminding me. I remember I was trying to figure that out even before I got the half bumper. I'll go ahead and measure it after work tomorrow.

Jross427 07-22-11 05:07 AM

No prob ive always been curious, unfortunatly now it looks like im trying to copy your car. Maybe half bumper and some different skirts, like r-magics or somethin

All good, doesn't matter to me. Ohh I went out and got the measurements for you too.

Center: 10 inch
Corners: 10.5 inch
Sides In front of Wheel: 12inch

Thats from the bottom of the trim to the bottom of the bumper, so you can get an idea of how low it will sit.

Hypertek: I also got your pics that you wanted.

I hope taking the diff is pretty straight forward so I didnt really take pics on that, but heres the shims.

Cut out your shims first.
Attachment 717005

This is what your shims should look like.
Attachment 717006

In order from top to bottom. 1 cone shim......6 aluminum can shims on the bottom
Attachment 717007

Here you can see the shiny aluminum can shims on the bottom of the stack. Make sure you lube every shim while restacking them.
Attachment 717008

You're going to need some bolts to keep everything together while you put back in the 4 tapered screws. I used the axle bolts in the meantime.
Attachment 717009

I used a total of 5 shims before, the breakaway was near 80-90ft/lbs. I got tired of it so I threw in an extra 7 shims which put me at 12 total shims. Its 100% locked 24/7. It doesn't slip at all and is basically a welded.

Hypertek 07-23-11 04:37 PM

thanks!
i had nismo 2way lsd in my old s13, would like the locking feel of that, maybe a little milder, so maybe 6- 7-8 shims for me?

Gotta save some aluminum cans, i dont drink much soda haha

RadioX7 07-23-11 06:53 PM

mac is that with a na diff or t2 cuz i have a t2 diff on my fc and it dose not lock all the time

I think 7-8 shims should be good, 5 on mine was decent.

Sorry forgot to mention it was a n/a diff.

Jross427 07-23-11 11:10 PM

So my eyes weren't playin tricks on me. Some of the shots make the front look flat all the way around, and the others look like you hit a speed bump going to fast lol. Hmmmm looks like i might have to make my own to get what i truly want. Thanks for the measurment, great advice and ideas on here too.

Pettersen 07-24-11 05:41 AM

Can this be done with a T2 diff aswell?

RadioX7 07-24-11 06:55 PM

Yea cuz i have a t2 diff and I was just ganna weld it

Im not 100% sure, but I think I remember seeing someone do it on a T2 diff.

Well I shimmed mine to where its locked 24/7. So it acts like a welded and don't risk breaking welds.

BTW, I was able to get a little quality seat time and the diff feels GREAT! Before I would understeer like ALOT, now it just floats around with ease. Going to track this upcoming weekend, so I'm prepping a few things here and there. I'll get back to you guys on monday with updates, or maybe later this week for something else. :icon_tup:

But for now...

Went to sideway sundays yesterday. Overall the car felt great and my understeering/pushing problem for the most part went away. I feel alot more comfortable in the car, just need to get on its level and learn how to drive better haha.

Curious...how would I get easier lock when using my handbrake. It was almost useless to me at this event because I had to rip it to the sky. I had to really go out of my way for it to lock which made me lose focus alot and spin lmao.

R-X-R 08-01-11 04:25 PM

do u own the rims or do u rent it? lol

i didnt knew a stock fc can make smoke :D

slowgxl 08-01-11 05:06 PM

Dang man i'm looking the work wheels on your car.....Also you should try adjusting the ebrake cable.

_Mac_ 08-01-11 05:47 PM

R-X-R: Haha nope, rims aren't rented, all of them have been owned. I was also surprised how much smoke I got with 65psi in the rears.

slowgxl: I have done that and it did help a bit, but it just doesn't lock as well as my buddies 240.

Something a buddy and I will be working on hopefully soon.

Dang man i'm loving the video...now i want to see a video of it drifting. Also that sucks dude...maybe some new pad and rotors? If not ask jtp he used a stock ebrake on his green drift car he'll know whats up.

P.S. your car is my motivation....stock s4 right now but going to be slamed on 18's real soon.

R-X-R 08-01-11 06:41 PM

did u make that video?

RadioX7 08-01-11 11:43 PM

when pulling the ebrake do you tap you foot brake or just pull the ebrake

Len-Len 08-01-11 11:59 PM

Pants........tightening......

I love this car. Cleanest S4 ever.

Spirit-RE 08-02-11 01:22 AM

Give it a TII swap with a good sized turbo and this will be a scale of epic equal to chernobyl and the moon landing.

diabolical1 08-02-11 11:13 AM

nice job with the car overall, but dude, i have to single out post 64. that illustrative post on rebuilding the differential was righteous.

JTP swears that the stock handbrake cable is good enough, but I've adjusted mine and tried to lock it and failed.

I actually saw him at the event, should've asked him, ohh well next time. And when you go 18s, make sure you go with a 35 series tire for the front. 40 series is too much on 18s if you want to be slammed.

I got a nice fat pay check and was ready to pull the trigger, but fall semester is coming up soon. Need to save more monies which gives me more time to learn the car.

Someone suggested that my cable is worn out and keeps stretching out more and more. I guess I'll look into that before I get new pads, the ones on my car are still fresh.

Hypertek 08-03-11 12:25 PM

u push the clutch in when you pull the ebrake right? it wont do much if the drivetrain is engaged . Looks sick btw.. that video got me excited . ugh i need to finish my rebuild and get mine back on the road, Im jealous hahaha

_Mac_ 08-03-11 12:44 PM

Clutch is definitely in, it locks great when I'm running 205 on the my 15" stockies. But it just won't lock with my 225 on 17s. Maybe I just need to flick the car harder. But yah my buddy finished the teaser and sent it to me to look at for the first time, even I got excited haha. Need to add a few things before we do the final video.

Tyler [S5 FC] 08-03-11 12:54 PM

I agree with that statement. I think my first two drift events I used my e-brake. But honestly, i haven't used it at all this season. Although I haven't been fortunate enough to be on a track (just stupid ass parking lot events) but I mainly just flick the car and clutch kick. And all my friends do the same. Only time I use my e-brake is when i'm in the mountains and go around hairpins. Especially since you're na, you'll scrub to much speed using the ebrake. And when we have third gear corners, I just flick the car and floor it, it's the only way I can carry enough speed to last through the corner... and I'm turbo. Although I am completely stock and only pushing 4 psi. :(

K!NCH 08-04-11 11:23 PM

God I love this car. Makes me want a kit so badly.

jc21 08-11-11 12:17 AM

damn... your car is looking very VERY clean... mad props dude...

each time i see your car you seem to take a shit on mine! hahahaha

_Mac_ 08-11-11 11:17 AM

Tyler: I think you're right, I just need more flick and less e-brake. Using e-brake is my "comfort zone" so I tend to use it alot. Needa step away from it and try something else.

JC: Haha not even, glad you decided to put that lip on your car. Those rolling shots of your car I saw a while ago were siiick!

For those of you that were interested...I'm selling my G35 Rear Mudguards. Hit me up if you want them!

sharingan 19 08-12-11 02:01 AM

Damn, and I just got a set if mud gaurds too. A quick mock up reveals that they will need to be modified to fit, care to share?

^I drilled a small hole and used a small screw to hold the rear part of the mudguard to the bumper. You can sorta see it in the pic below. Once finished and installed please do share pics!^

Attachment 717016

Hypertek 08-12-11 02:49 AM

since your selling them, care to say what you got now? I liked that look with the mud flaps instead of rear aftermarket bumper.. aftermarket bumpers can be parachutes back there.

sharingan 19 08-12-11 10:12 AM

^^^ Agreed. The list of aftermarket bumpers that look good is a short one. Hopefully its a diffuser...*crosses fingers*

_Mac_ 08-12-11 11:47 AM

Well it was between a diffuser or a gp sports rear bumper. I found a good deal on bumper so I decided to just go gp sports rear. It's not as aggressive as other rear bumpers out there so I think it'll be fine for now. Pics later today I think...

Hypertek 08-12-11 01:55 PM

you gonna cut it to mount to your s4 bumper?
