They are available from Turblown. I believe they make custom ones, but be prepared to open your wallet.

Monday night the engine started going in... took me a while to get it to mate with the transmission. I lost my clutch alignment tool years ago so it wasn't quite lined up I think, but I got it in there eventually.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...24cf7f5cd3.jpg I mounted a radium surge tank where the leading coil used to live and mounted the leading coil next to it semi-temporarily (it'll be replaced by IGN-1A coils). The surge tank has a walbro 400 E85 pump mounted in it. I also replaced 2 of the fittings with 5/16" hose barbs so it plumbs right into the stock lines. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...4b8349bdbb.jpg I've now moved on to plumbing the new fuel system. highlights: 6AN raceflux viton fuel lines FFE fuel rails 4x ID1700s fuel labs 6 micron fiberglass fuel filter turbosmart FPR walbro 400 E85 Radium surge tank Things I have that might not make the cut (I need to get the car back up and running) - radium fuel pulsation dampener - flex fuel sensor - fuel pressure sensor for megasquirt https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...40e8819802.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...eef623d2e6.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...79a55a6062.jpg |
It looks great! Is the corolla going in the garage next?

Plus my subaru's exhaust is currently broken in half as well as the evap canaster got it's wires ripped out (rallycross car problems)... and that actually has emissions due so that's currently the priority :) and it also burns a quart of oil or two every rallycross so it might get a new engine before the corolla does... I have too many racecars! |

Corolla is going to have to wait for a bit... the rx7 has a bunch of stuff that needs to get done.

mounted fuel system stuff and got started on some of the line making:

Finished up the fuel lines for the most part (still need to run 2 lines from the stock hardlines to the surge tank).

Looks good!
I had an big oh shit moment this past weekend. I was idling the car waiting for it to warm up. All of a sudden it started POURING white smoke from the exhaust. Thought it was the inner coolant seal that went. Luckily, it turns out to be a blown seal on the turbo. Whew! Thought I was going to need a complete rebuild. |
put some more stuff back on the car tonight...
finished up version 2 of my EFR intake... (version 3 hopefully will be coming soon and be better) this ones steps down to 2.5" and then goes into the 6"velocity stack: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a89071a8b0.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...89baf5a9e0.jpg |
Random question, did you fab up that oil filler neck yourself? How did you determine the correct thread pitch for the oil cap?

IRP Stainless Steel Oil Filler Neck | IRPerformance thread pitch is fairly easy to figure out. get a set of calipers and measure the distance between threads. it's probably metric, so the distance in mm is the pitch... |
Still don't have the car back together yet... but getting there.
Clearance of the FPR to the TB elbow. Changing oil filters should be interesting... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5...521_204041.jpg Wired up the fuel pump for my surge tank with a relay and a inline fuse. right now it's plugged into switched 12V... when I re-wire the car for the new ECU I'll wire it into fuel pump #2 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-w...521_195609.jpg almost ready to start: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-K...521_204045.jpg |
looks good. I have the same issue with fpr location and my fc tb elbow. I ended up putting on a remote oil filter for that reason
|
Dual remote oil filters is a very cheap mod that adds both clearence, a bit of added reliability and easier to switch filters :)
Also a electric fuel pressure sender for the fpr will give both clearence, and u can make the ecu go limpmode if pressure drops. Full function engineering sells em for a good price. Allthou...you probably already know all this :) |
I'll buttoned up and ready to start!
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...825631900d.jpg ceramic coated downpipe looking nice a clean https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q...522_175630.jpg I also set the pinion angle on the rear diff (now that the engine/transmission was at the correct angle). I used the factory ford lower mount this time and it worked out a lot better than the random rubber cushions that come in the ronnin kit. I was able to dial out all the tilt I had in the rear subframe and it ended up at spot on the same angle as my transmission output shaft. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5...522_220719.jpg |

Can't what for vid's brotha

Holy shit Mike, this is nuts. I see more FTDs in your future....
|
It runs!
It ran for about 10 minutes.... then I tried to move it and lost the rear rotor.... after freaking out for a while, then debugging for a while, it turns out it was just a fouled spark plug :) swapped out the spark plug and it runs again! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-C...524_160358.jpg (yes, it's very dirty) so far it has about 30 miles on it, so far so good. |

First I was afraid, I was petrified. Then, I read about how you fixed it. Such a nice engine bay.

My heart sunk there for a moment! But glad to hear it's back on the road!!
engine how has ~80 miles on it. I've been driving around auto-tuning with the new injectors just to make sure nothing is too different. I've had a stumble when the secondaries shift on under light load for as long as I can remember (probably since installing my original MS1). and I think I finally fixed it! for some reason my injection timing was setup to happen at 135*.... according to aaroncake's awesome writeup the default in MS3 is 360? which is a lot different... changed that up and no more stumble, yay. I have no idea why mine was set to that... I'm following mazda motorsports break in procedure for used bearings, so as far as I'm concerned the engine is almost broken in. (fully broken in at 100 miles) it's already super hard to get the thing to stay out of boost over 4k... :) |
