Keep it black, man. Although I may be just a little biased.

My little black vert (see avatar) just feels inadequate next to yours (:

Think it wants to go hang with some Hondas until it feels better about itself.

Very sick setup- thanks for being the custodian of an excellent example of rotary goodness. Kudos to you sir, for keeping your chin up through all those setbacks, and keeping an eagle eye on the temp gauge (:

...fuk the black, you should ask 3,5, or 7 girls what their fav color is ON A CAR... because i hope your trying to pic up chicks and not dudes...

...unless you wanted a dudes opinion because you care about a dudes color pref over a chicks color pref....

..buy the way, chicks dig red... and thats a fact!

Um I am trying not the thread hijack, but i think black would be sick with that kit. Please do not do like the guy above. His rims are too small, way too much wheel gap, he spent all of money and cant even get a decent suspension setup, s5 trim all the way around, and the paint underneath the wing on the trunk he cant open now is orange peeled like hell. Needs signal lenses too. Good idea, great try, just the details that make a huge difference in the end.

Mills 10-23-07 10:10 AM

The trunk can still be opened with the S4 sport spoiler, it's the most tasteful thing on that car, imo. Not that there's anything wrong with going crazy on a car like that but of course the details always separate nice cars from rolling jokes (and no, I'm not calling the car pictured above one, I've seen MUCH worse than that).

Excellent choice on the widebody kit, glad they are starting to become available! What nose are you going to use with it?

Dltreezan 10-23-07 11:48 AM

dont get me wrong, I like the car, the kit, I just would love to see the s5 trim before the rear bumper to match everything, and the car lowered so it can fit the rims. The rims look good, deep lip and everything, especially in the rear, the color is cool and I really like how the top matches. Great idea, good execution. Great execution would be better to make everything on that car a masterpeice.

PlatinumPresto.info 10-23-07 11:52 AM

FACT, when you paint your car black it hides all the defining lines on the car. all the work you put into the bodywork will be lost/blended/not seen.

...but then again, if you dont want to be seen and stay "under the radar", then id agree with the bandwagon and go super glossy black....

...and ofcourse let your paint *CURE* before you wet sand, buff, and wax her.

...thx, i know... in fact i haven't drivin or seen my car in over a year. my picts were takin by the guy who i put in charge of her while these thing are being done. the wheels were their waaay before i had the kit. and i was going to buy a set of Shiny Gold Bersaglios 18x10.5-7, 18x11.5-7, 5x114.3, but were sold before i got my hands on them.

..and the car is being buffed as we speak

Black shows all imperfections......."fact"......

If the body work's not perfect - it'll show with black more so then any other colour. Don't know how you got that presumption.

Juiceh, best of luck with the colour choices. Sprayed out cards are the best way to do it. You can chuck one/two on your dashboard and hang onto them for a couple days and get an idea of how they look at dawn/noon/dusk etc. Especially if the colour you're thining about can't be found (easily) on a car to be viewed on a "full scale" so to speak.

LoL, yeah I bet. The TII engine I had put in wasn't a big dollar build though, it was part of a TII conversion package. I had hoped that the engine would have been built a bit better, but you get what you pay for, so I'm not complaining. The engine would have probably lasted a while the way it was, but my main reason for pulling it is because I wanted to port the shit out of it, change some internals do some other upgrades, and do some unique things, all of which would require a rebuild anyway. I really did not expect some of the things I discovered once the engine was torn down though, so I'm happy I decided to do it. More on that later, I got some parts in the back of my truck that I need to snap pics of and upload. I'll probably do that right after this post.

Yeah, I love these tires. Hopefully they perform as well as they look! Hell, they are OEM on some Ariel Atom's so they should kick ass. Though, I think the Atom runs a slightly skinnier tire! :rlaugh:
Details on wheels will be revealed when I receive them. :) Oh the suspense!!!

Here is a fact: Many women love convertibles, PERIOD. However, I do not need this car to pickup girls. I have a girl. Believe me, I have had plenty of women try to pick ME up while I've been driving either my black Solstice GXP or my black FC3C. I've had a damn minivan full of girls try to pick me up in the FC. So, your "chicks dig red cars" theory is wrong. I am not painting the car to suit what girls like, it will be painted what I like, if you think girls won't like it, I really don't care. My experience has proven otherwise anyway. Now, if you want to know who dig red cars, go talk to a police officer or your insurance company!

Well, I wouldn't really say they are becoming available. I'm pretty sure this is just going to be a 1 time run with these kits. So, if you are interested in getting one I would highly suggest contacting Dave ASAP to see if he can have a kit made for you.
I will be using the stock nose, but it will be highly modified.

I agree completely.

Defining lines eh? Well, quite a few of those will be removed anyway. The molding is going bye bye. I don't want the car to stick out like a yellow banana car everywhere I go. I want this car to be more of a look once, look away, WTF, look again double take kinda car. I believe with the direction I am going with the body work and paint I will be able to accomplish that and manage to stay "under the radar" for the most part.

I've owned at least 3 black vehicles. You are 100% correct.

Thanks. I've got sprayed card samples, but I keep forgetting to put them in my truck and do exactly this, thanks for reminding me. :) Yeah none of these colors can be found to view on a real car in person easily at all. I don't feel like driving down to the Chicago Lamborghini store only to find out that they don't have any cars in the colors I'm looking for either.

Wow, long post....

They are available to anyone who wants them though not as cheap as Juice got it for.

The kit will work with any nose or rear bumper but some aftermarkets will require slight modifications.

Full kit is $2300 + shipping.
Separate components of the kit are also available.
Each kit will be made on a per-order basis. Turn around time should be about 3-4 weeks from time of order.
pm me if interested.

Sorry for the thread jack...now back to the regularly scheduled programming.

Juice, I cannot wait to see pics of your car with the kit on it all painted. You should definitely have yours done before me or Darkspeed. Hope you guessed the correct offset with your wheels or you will be buying some spacers and longer studs to fill the fenders.

I had a black TII years ago. I'll never own another black car. All I can say is just don't paint it white :D

Well if the info you gave me was accurate the fitment should be pretty good. :)

Why no more black?

*hides the white paint samples*

They look dirty too quick after washing.
Also, track days make short work of a nice black paint job and make it look :icon_tdow.

Black does look about the best when it is clean though.

Thanks for ruining my dreams Dave!! Time to go: http://smiliesftw.com/x/suicide.gif

Juiceh 10-23-07 08:31 PM

Well, like I said before there was some interesting things that were discovered during the teardown.

There was a nice dent in this rotor. That gash is about 3mm deep. Probably fine for re-use. The other rotor had a few nicks and scratches from apex seal damage, but nothing severe.

Now these two pics are interesting. Can anyone spot why?

Porting looks a little uneven, eh?

What is the discoloration above the exhaust ports and near the leading plugs from?

The housings were 20k mile housings when they were assembled as my engine. I only put about 1500 miles on them.

Specs on the new engine to come later....

Keep the car black... Use a Mercedes C-230 Kompressor Black or the Mercedes McClaren Black is super nice !!!

MaczPayne 10-25-07 11:11 AM

Looks like the burn marks on the housings were caused by lack of lubrication...

Longshoe 10-26-07 02:54 PM

Were you running premix on this motor?

I think I will keep it black. Probably either Lamborghini Deep Black or Deep Black Metalic.

Interesting.... The oil was changed after the first 700 miles after the rebuild. I only put 1500-2000 miles on this engine. Is that enough mileage to create these burn marks?

On another note, my body kit is scheduled for delivery today! Soon I should be receiving a call from the receiving department here at work to let me know it has arrived. :D I sure hope this box fits into the back of my truck... I really don't want to strap it to the roof.... lol. Pics soon....
