I wondered what happened to this beauty.......

Me likey the black I/C pipe!

jarred 02-05-07 04:15 PM

that build-up is inspiring to say the least...good work so far!

vipers 02-05-07 04:42 PM

great work so far! i wish i had bought a anti surge housing... the sound of a screaming turbo is music to my ears

Juiceh 02-11-07 03:08 PM

Well, I can't seem to find a bunch of the pics I took. I did however find some I had taken with my cell phone camera. So here we go, a couple night time pics of a couple of my in cabin toys. http://smiliesftw.com/x/kj.gif

Blitz i-Color:
https://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9115/icolorvn5.jpg

Tein EDFC:
https://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4192/edfcuh3.jpg

Yeah I know the pics suck ass. I'll have better ones and even video of some of this stuff eventually. The electronic boost guage display on the i-color is sweet. If you look closely at the pic of the i-color you can see the guage in the display. The camera was at a bad angle for that pic. Since I already have a Blitz boost guage, my primary use for the i-color will be for boost control(obviously) and monitoring of the Oil temps.

More to come!!

car looks great, im oh-so close to finishing my microtech wiring. Good luck man!

GoodfellaFD3S 02-11-07 09:36 PM

You're going to love how quickly the turbo spools up. I am seeing 15 psi by 3700 rpms, and man oh man does it pull like a mother to 8000 rpm :D

Issues that have arisen during the build thus far.

Here are a couple things that have popped up along the way.

A couple months ago before it got cold here A-spec had my car up on the dyno and the stock plastic T-stat housing cracked and sprung a leak preventing them from dynoing the car. So I ordered a Mazdatrix Aluminum replacement.
https://img453.imageshack.us/img453/...housingbf4.jpg
Since this pic a bung has been welded into the housing for the sensor for my coolant temp gauge. Very nice part and highly recommended to anyone still running the plastic s5 T-stat housing. I should never have to worry about this part cracking on me. :)

Another issue that popped up had to do with my new Pineapple Racing oil pan. I know that it has happened to some of the FD guys with their pans and I think its just a problem that happens every now and then and the casting isn't perfect and the oil seeps right thru the pan itself. Ever since the guys @ A-spec had put the pan on, the car had developed a small leak. They took a closer look and determined that there was in fact a leak in the pan. The area where the leak occurred is circled in the pic below. It was impossible to get a decent pic, but you really can't even see if there is a crack or anything.
https://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5571/oilpanjw5.jpg
I contacted Blake @ Pineapple Racing and the fellas @ A-Spec gave them a call and before I knew it a replacement pan was on its way to us! Pineapple Racing customer service FTW!

929 MC + S5 TII Brake Booster

Heres the 929 Master cylinder and S5 TII brake booster all installed and fully plumbed up together. I figured some of you guys might like to see this. :) The brake booster has a bit of rust on it, someday I'll get that taken care of. I didn't want to take the extra time to clean it up and repaint it. I just want to get the car running and on the road!!

I thought I had posted this but I guess I didn't.

So Sick!

Juiceh 02-20-07 06:22 PM

Engine bay pic as of last night:
https://img502.imageshack.us/img502/...ginebaygq7.jpg

I really got to do something about that nasty front cover. That rust just really pisses me off. I wish my engine didn't come that way.

Why the hell doesn't anyone make hood struts for FCs?! I gotta get rid of that hood prop bar.

Should have some numbers very soon! :D

Mills 02-20-07 06:50 PM

That's just the water pump that's all rusted. If you don't want to replace it with a new one it isn't too hard to remove and paint it black (like stock) or any other color you like.

dguy 02-20-07 08:48 PM

Wow everything looks excellent other than the wiring that they seem to be doing. I'd really suggest you stear clear from using crappy crimp connectors if you're planning on the car to be gremlin free.

Hhmmm, you mean like the blue crimp connectors on the Bosch coils?

I didn't really think they would be a problem. But now that I think about it, with the weather that we sometimes get up here, I see how they could be. I'll see what I can do about them.... :)
Any suggestions?

GoodfellaFD3S 02-20-07 11:27 PM

Wow! We're running the same turbo, but your engine bay seems so much more cramped than mine. Time to get rid of those pesky accessories like a/c, p/s, etc

Everything looks great, as mentioned replace that old water pump with a nice new one and get the wiring squared away and you're golden :git: One thing I did notice---do you have room for an air filter? Looks tight with the rad hose. You can always run the same K&N 'shorty' filter I have, it's a 4 inch outlet and I think is 5 inches long. I got it through Gotham.

Yeah, I want to keep all the accesories. Eventually I will have some really wide rubber under this car and parking in the city would be a nightmare without PS. Sean called me a pussy for keeping my PS & AC though. http://smiliesftw.com/x/tear.gif Hes going to be running some wide wheels on his FD without ps. I may be going a bit wider on my car though. http://smiliesftw.com/x/hulksmiley.gif

I have an air filter, its visible in a pic in post #57 on the last page. Its not installed in this pic. I have a Mariah cold air box and ducted headlight cover you can see in the first post I think. I might try to use that box and have a TID made so I can have the filter in that box. I'm not sure it will benefit much from it though. I don't know if its really gonna get any fresh air there, there really isn't that much flow thru that duct since its mainly cosmetic unless you do a little bit of cutting to create better flow. I might just do that though.

You've got a large streetport right? I have a Rotary Ressurection normal streetport. I'll also be running the RB REV TII presilencer and mufflers. Probably not quite the flow of that killer 4 inch exhaust you have there. My spool probably won't be quite as quick, but it should still be pretty quick.

Juiceh 02-21-07 11:13 PM

More pics!!

Like a mentioned before, the A-Spec kit didn't quite fit in the vert due to the extra bracing the vert has. So we removed it and Sean made this nice little custom job. Probably weighs a bit less than the original brace. I'm no structural engineer or anything but it looks pretty sturdy to me.
https://img519.imageshack.us/img519/...rtbracemc5.jpg

Heres a pic of my 2nd inline walbro and a different angle of the vert brace.
https://img507.imageshack.us/img507/...uelpumpcp0.jpg

Another coated IC pipe:
https://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5086/icpipe2rq3.jpg
Yeah its only a small piece and its on the hotside, but hell I figure the coating may help prevent it from getting a little heat soaked by the radiator right next to it.

Stay "Tuned" for more! http://smiliesftw.com/x/e9ydfk.gif

GoodfellaFD3S 02-22-07 07:43 AM

I think it's funny how that oil pan from Pineapple looks like it says 'JPR' on the bottom, which is the name of a small rotary shop down in southern NJ :D

Juiceh 03-02-07 10:54 PM

Well I decided to throw the cold air box back on and enlarge the hole for the intake plumbing to 4 inch. We also trimmed away some material off the headlight assembly to allow the ducted headlight cover to be fully functional. Sean is gonna fab up a nice 4 inch S bend TID to work with this. Once he does that it will be sent out for coating.

https://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6681/duct2oc6.jpg

My headlights are in but my battery is dead so I couldn't get a pic of those. I could have if I raised the motors manually but I was too lazy. Will get more pics on monday.

Juiceh 03-23-07 12:57 AM

I couldn't take the eye sore anymore. I just had to have it fixed. I think it turned out nicely.

Sean fabbed up a 4 inch TID to use with the airbox. Its at the coater right now. Soon he will fab up some bumper guards for me and make a template if more FC guys want them.

Hey, at least you have an trusted tuner available locally to you, don't complain too much ;)

hondahater 03-25-07 08:36 AM

man I was looking at a vert the other day and was thinking how awesome it would be to put my setup in that thing! Very cool setup you have there. Just as a question, what are you using for wastegate lines?

stylEmon 03-25-07 11:25 AM

props for another sexy black FC! looks great.
