UPDATE:

Went today and weighed the FC. This weight includes me(190lbs) and 7 gallons of gas(42lbs total)..................
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...y/FCweight.jpg

I am totally surprised! The company just got there scale calibrated last week and it only has a 5lb error varience WOW. I figured being the heavy turboII model and having the LS1 would have made the car tip 3K easy.

I am happy :)

As for the FC, I have been driving it around like a mad man, getting some miles on the LS7 clutch and just seeing how the car reacts. I leave next thursday for the tune. :drive:

BTW...all horrible crush bending fixed ;)

http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...ay/exhaust.jpg

FC3S Murray 04-30-11 04:55 PM

Well we made it home yesterday..........it was a nightmare getting back. Old man winter HAD to have his last storm the day I come back from my tune!! Talk about a major pucker factor going over two of the passes at 5950FT with no chains(they were making everybody put on chains...we had none.

Rain and snow the whole way back....my car got some minor road rash :(

Lets sum it up for you with pictures:

Car loaded on Uhaul after cursing and having to remove some shit on the trailer to clear the front lip. *Cant open driver door once loaded since car is so low. You have to climb out the window....fun :'(
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip001.jpg

Then the car cover. NOW the only reason I ran a car cover was last month when I went to Spokane for a family death there was a TON of gravel everywhere. I figured I would take some paint chaffing over rock chips anyday. Soo I put masking tape on all the "high" areas of the body. It worked too, the only parts that got chaffed were the sides of the A and C pillars, and the rear fender.
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip002.jpg

On the dyno
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip010.jpg

Dyno vidsurl=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMPoxNbTq4k#]LS1 FC3S Dyno pull[/url]
...LOL I trip on a metal pipe in this vidLS1 FC3S Dyno pull #2

Dyno sheet (yellow lines are best pull, the green was the first pull of the day in 3rd gear for tune testing)
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...ay/dyno003.jpg

Same pull but power levels if at sea level

http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...ay/dyno002.jpg

.....engine bay soooo dirty :'( :'( ...took me 2 hours last night to detail again
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip011.jpg
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip012.jpg

The bad weather coming back...after seeing no gravel there we decided to ditch the cover since the weather was supposed to be decent...... lol
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip014.jpg

The worse weather at the passes....
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...unetrip019.jpg

Now I have to do some major polishing and overall car clean up. Car show next weekend....got to get to work.

So nice to be finished.......kinda ;)

April and Old Man Winter has his last hoorah. At least you didn't drive the 7 to the tuner.

Had a huge local free car show today in the downtown area. Figured since I detailed the FC for 3 hours yesterday, what the hell right?
MAN! did it get a TON of attention, I was answering questions from 10am to 3 pm lol. I ended leaving early and didnt hear the car show winners.
Anyway the car is running great and FINALLY the weather is nice so the good driving starts

lol.

Nope, since there is no airbag in the vehicle and there are only 2 seats, state law permits her to sit up front as long as she is in a booster seat approved for her age/weight. Many people who own bench seat single cab trucks do this as well.

She loves riding in it since she can see over the dash with the booster seat. She is 5 1/2

CJarrett 05-30-11 02:25 PM

That's rad! My little girl is 7, same story, loves riding up front since the airbags in our cars are disabled with her weight. We had a friend lend us his 360 Spider for the weekend so she sat on my lap and drove it, shifted gears too with the gated shifter! In a parking lot though.

What does she think of your car?

Lol, a 360 spider ......lucky little girl! My dad let me do that in his...... 72 Ford F150 haha

She LOVES the car. She is always asking a million questions about the gauges and what not...drives me crazy . Every now and then I give it about 1/2 throttle and she just laughs so hard. I dont have the heart to do full throttle yet.....traction issues and I am just not comfortable doing that with her in the car.

Yesterday there was a blue neon parked downtown. We were in Subway eating and she looked over and said, "Look daddy, its you car!" I just laughed and said I hope not babe. Any blue 2-door car she sees is my blue car lol.

FC3S Murray 07-14-11 09:18 PM

So I ended up spending 8 hours today polishing and waxing the FC for a Car show this Sat at the local City Chevrolet

I had the usual shit to do: Polished the wheels, deep cleaned the interior and engine bay, polished odds and ends

Now I just got done waxing the car back in early May......why am I waxing it again you ask?...Well for future FYI: The Turtle Wax "synthetic" liquid wax is garbage. It only lasted 3 washes on me. With that wax gone and leaving my paint exposed, my 3-stage compound/polish I did after the dyno trip was not as good as I thought(used liquid ice...professional shit but too aggresive IMHO)....it was starting to show some major holograph swirls in my clear.

So I did some research and bought some Meguiars M105 and M205 compounds since detailers swear by the stuff. I only used the M205 since I wanted to start with the less aggressive stuff first...and it worked GREAT! I had to apply it by hand since my polisher was down. Man the stuff takes out all fine swirls with one coat.

THEN I needed a different wax. I didnt want to do the paste BUT wanted carnuaba wax, luckily I found Armor All Butter Smooth Wax. I saw it on Speed channel all the time and boy oh boy the stuff WORKS AWESOME! You just wipe it on and wipe it off...no hazing. It is almost like it soaks into the clear really fast, almost like it is evaporating...its crazy to watch.

Here are the results:

This shot in the direct sun...no swirls at all!!:

I will have some pics of the car show when its over.

Oh BTW: here are some vids of me just cruising around still being nice on the motor a while back. There is short WOT pull at 7 min on the front fender vid, 1st-2nd-3rd-4th letting off at 105mph due to the truck. shitty audio with non-waterproof case. I was checking suspension/fender/tire clearence with these vids:

she sounds really mean despite the case.

Awesome swap Murray! Car feels pretty good with all that low end torque, eh? And it doesn't stop til it red lines :D

Totally diggin those rims.

FC3S Murray 07-24-11 10:09 PM

Car show went great. I got a large amount of attention, lol I actually stole the show from this all original, matching numbers 67' Camaro right next to me. He polished that bad boy all morning and come time when the show opened sooo many people were talking to me and looking at the FC. The guy was a little pissy until the end of the show when he wanted to actually hear about all the woot-wa was about.....he was impressed.

MAN, the Corvette guys are the funniest. They made it where I almost couldnt get a break....sooo many questions, then they would drag over some more friends and say, "check this crazy shit out!" They were actaully a blast

I didnt place but one of the judges told me my FC was discussed and was a very close runner. Really I was just happy to have it out and shoot the shit with gear heads.

Tell me I dont look out of place....haha

FC3S Murray 08-18-11 07:04 PM

FC3S Murray 10-24-12 12:24 PM

Figured I would update:
Nothing too new....upgraded rocker arm trunions with comp cam unit, fabricated some new radiator ducting, added some hood struts and had it aligned.
The car is running fantastic and is still just a huge blast to drive given it has been a year and a half since the swap was completed.
Procharger in the future :)

UPDATE:

This is a little late but I figured I would let all you know as well. Back in September I did a cylinder head upgrade. I went with Advanced Inductions High Compression Ratio (11:1) 219cc Full CNC Porting Package on my OEM 241 heads.

All the details on them are here:
Advanced Induction - 219 cc GM 5.7L LS1 Head Package

I also ended up upgrading my injectors to Bosch 30lb'ers(more on these later ) and installing ARP head bolts. Some tear down pics:

All back together and you would never even know I did a head upgrade...except for the black ARP head bolts :)

After the start up with no leaks and everything checking out good, I trailered it out to Spokane to the same exact dyno I used back in 2011 and ended up putting down 476 rwhp and 430 rwtrq. Nice improvement from my 425hp/417 trq last time I dynoed. Dyno Sheet: Attachment 649832

Here is the video:

SOOOOOOO I get back home and didnt get to drive it for almost a month. Once I drove it around my local roads I was having some major fuel tip-in issues that were annoying the crap out of me. After some back and forth talk between my tuner in Spokane and Steve Williams out in Virgina, we came to the conclusion I had shitty injectors and discovered that I was sold chinese knock-off Ford 30lb injectors. BEWARE of TRE Performance, they are crooks!

Anyway, I ended up getting som F.A.S.T 36lb'ers BUT the problem with the injector swap was my previous tune was inaccurate now due to the injector settings being different. So I ended up just buying HP Tuners and started re-tuning it myself. Once I researched and learned how the GM system works and actually got to perform steady state tuning locally on a SUN diagnostic dyno (old school but fine for tuning up to 4000 rpm), I was amazed how much room for imporvement my "tune" had, especially the MAF curve and the speed density table

I got majority of my MAF and SD tune dialed to the appropriate AFR's in back in OCT of 2013. I was able to get some WOT tuning done but winter moved in before I could dial it in perfect. Come this spring I need to do some more WOT tuning and get it completely linear at a safe 12.5:1 AFR ( it was at 11.7:1 afr intially when I started WOT in OCT:icon_tdow)

Once I get that dialed in, I will head back out to spokane JUST to use the same dyno and see how much more power I picked up with my adjustments (my butt dyno back it October indicated a power increase, especially when dialing in my AFR from pig pig rich).

As for this winter I have been restoring some odds and ends in the interior, like plastics and exterior trims (expensive stuff brand new :()

Stay tune for more.

Thank buddy! Yeah my cam is generally mild and I kept a 114LSA for idle reasons. I have dialed in my SD & MAF fuel trims very close now that at idle is has a great lobe from the exhaust, I will post vids of it this spring.

I am digging your FC development racing page btw :icon_tup: Your diff mount is genius!! (Us V8 guys who retain the mazda rear end would love to purchase that:nod:)

Thank you for the compliment!

I may pick up another 8-14 rwhp maybe and as for being over the 500rwhp mark, I highly doubt that. The dyno I used both times was a Dynocom and they are known for being very generous. Most LS1 swaps running my engine set up put out about 445-455 rwhp on mustang dynos. If I ever get to the 1/4 mile track, my ET will give me an honest number on my power output granted I can launch quick enough.

I only used the same exact dyno as a tool to see my power gain from my head upgrade.
