oh no nothin like that man. The wheels will make or break the whole car.
The body looks great though, good job on painting everything the right way.

Thanks. And I honestly did think about down the road as far as the urethane goes. At the same time I wanted something that wouldnt just simply fall off the one time I decided to go fast some late night. I really hope that the wheels look right... I guess if we decide they arent for the car we may have to look into different ones. They looked pretty good on the FC they came off of. Too bad the pic I posted earlier is down. I cant find a pic of them and of course I didnt save the pic to my computer - D'oh!

Car is home now. It was fairly windy today so i guess it was as good of a day as any to "test out" how well the kit holds up. Everything seemed to be just fine, so all is good.

Final pics:

Looks like there are some gaps where the rear cover meets the bumper, that would irritate me if it was mine, maybe fill the gaps somehow.

Other than that it looks great man.

IanS 02-10-09 08:57 AM

Yeah the gaps irritate me. I could probably fix the gap on the side but there would still be one that goes around the corner on the pass side. I think the rear piece is about 3/4 inch too wide and also 1/2 inch too long on each side (where it mounts into the fender well).

Spectrum24x 02-10-09 10:16 AM

Its looking good, that black molding makes it look like a smaller supra lol..

MazdaRX7.ws 02-10-09 06:25 PM

I didn't read the whole thread but I would just like to say that if you designed and made that body kit then you should be very proud. I used to build ambulances and then got into tinting/custom car audio-video-lighting and it isnt easy to make a mold with fiberglass. Is that what you used? Hey I know first hand know how hard it is to design and then fabricate something with fiberglass and then try to get it to fit perfectly. Shit I can remember not leaving the shop for fucking hours smoking so many cigs - daisy chain smokin' lighting one off the other! Nice job... Looks sharp:icon_tup:

IanS 02-10-09 07:26 PM

Bought the kit from eBay. Im pretty happy with the fitment overall considering where it came (speaking of eBay not the specific seller) from and all of the horror stories.

Here is pic of final product (at least the outside). I dont actually have all the wheels installed, ran out of time doing the front you can see so other front isnt done yet.

need RX7 05-10-09 06:10 PM

Came out pretty nice. Now it needs some coilovers

EvilWankel 05-10-09 07:03 PM

Yeah, it does need to ride a little lower.

On another note, I had to replace one of my moldings once. If there is any hint of heat around they become very flexible, and in return they are no longer straight. What was your trick to getting them straight to put on the body?

IanS 05-10-09 07:45 PM

I noticed that if you sit them at an odd shaped angle they will stay that way so what I did was let them sit overnight on a flat table and the next morning they laid flat. I tried to force one once and learned the hard way not to do that lol.

As far as riding lower, yeah I agree BUT there are Eibach Pros on the car in the pic. I guess I should have went with the sport line but at the same time I didnt want to worry about hitting every small object lying in the road. The stock springs made it sit lower they were so old and tired.
