Where did your steering wheel come from?
Thanks very much, the steering wheel is from an early S4 (85-86) for European domestic Market FC and was included with the car. He was going to put the factory S5 wheel back on but I asked him to keep The euro spec wheel in place
The set of Infini IV wheels I purchased have arrived! I would say they are 9 out of 10 condition for being 28 years old and included the center caps and appropriate Infini emblems plus the cap wrench. I am excited to obtain a quality set of rubbers for this wheelset.
I know factory size is 205-55-16 for the 16x7 wheels. I am considering 215-50/16 but there are limited selections available
Will probably obtain tires in the next week or two and get these wheels mounted up. Excited!
Just get 225/50/16. There's more choices and the speedometer will still read right.
also considering 225/45 16. VERY limited options but quality performance tires and the 2% smaller size will help gearing with the lack of torque these cars have. Still debating.

I actually ran a shorter tire and am pretty happy with it TBH.
Same reasons as the poster. It's like moving up a bit for gear ratio the most cost effective way.
One thing that had been bugging me about the interior was the floor mats. I am lucky enough to at least have them and they say RX-7 on them but the driver side is in rough shape.
I sprang for Garage Alpha's replacement "OEM" floor mats in Black with a black border. They did NOT disappoint! They are amazing quality and well worth it to help round out the interior. The "RX-7" is a CNC aluminum badge that is mechanically fastened to the mat with screws. Really well done product!

Thanks! Most of the 85-86 Euro steering wheels I’ve seen are in rough shape but this one is clean thus why it’s staying mounted. It’s slightly larger diameter really helps with the manual rack steering too.

Soon.. We just had our third child last month and my wife will kill me if I go buying tires right now LOL! The wheels nearly set her off since she said "They look just like what you already have!"... Oh no honey they are WAYYYY different LOL
Life gets busy as heck with 3 kids! but I finally got the tires for the Infini wheels. I went with Hankook Ventus v12 Evo 2 on all four at the factory Turbo II size of 205/55-16. Really happy with this FOR SURE!

Springs:
I originally combed over several options for springs. On my GXL 12+ years ago I had a set of eibach progressive springs. I really enjoyed the way the car felt but those are no longer available. I did not want a dramatic lowering spring, I ended up finding a decent used set of racing beat coupe springs and got to work.. I retained The existing Tokico 5 way adjustable at all corners for now as they still have good rebound and firmness. I’ll consider a new set of Tokico in the near future. The new ride is fantastic with wheels and tires and springs mounted I am satisfied with the turnout.
Took a little 200 mile round trip in the GTU today to acquire some parts.
Picked up a Pacific glass sunroof with great condition seal and hardware
S4 Clutch type 4.10 LSD setup ready to bolt in (I'll have pictures in a few weeks during install)
Spare Cruise control actuator (hoping to get Cruise working prior to Deals Gap)
Traded a steel spare for an Aluminum Spare to go with my Aluminum Jack and lighten things up a smidge..
All thanks to STANIS for the help getting the glass installed and the parts pickup!
Got home and removed the Glass to give it a nice polish around the hardware mounting points and edges. Believe it or not I just used glass stove top cleaner/polish and it came out amazingly clean!

Thanks! Not sure if he had a sale ad up or not. definitely happy to have one on the GTU. I plan on having the steel panel worked on to remove some rust ect.. and keep it as a spare for future use. I was surprised how easy it was to remove and replace the panels. Never tried it before.
Next update will hopefully be the LSD diff install!
First let me start by saying, I've never done a diff swap or removal on an FC. I did the job with hand tools. On the ground, under the car. It wasn't the most comfortable place to work on something so cumbersome. I jacked the car up as high as I felt comfortable and set the jack-stands in place. Loosened out-er most sub-frame bolts until the sub-frame drooped to make room for the diff to slide out, removed the center support link for the rear of the subframe and began the process. The only two bolts that gave me trouble were of course the one's hardest to get to. The two that slip INTO the slots up near the driveshaft area. I did not have to remove the exhaust, I left the drive shaft in the car, I left the rear wheels on the car. I'd give the entire process about a 7/10 for difficulty, especially with hand tools. All in all it took about 6 hours from jacking up the car, removal and replacement of the diff, taking many breaks here and there to rest my back and neck (again it's not a comfortable work area on a cold garage floor HAHA) I did have to leave to the store to get a breaker bar because I didn't own one and couldnt get enough leverage on some of the bolts (THEY WERE TIGHT!!!) I plan to check all the hardware after a 100 miles of driving or so just to check tightness and for peace of mind. And i've already verified the new LSD diff works great! (We won't go into details of how I "tested" the diff.

It's been a while since I updated this thread. I can say, there are some major changes coming for the GTU..
I've owned the GTU for a bit over 3 years now and it has been a fantastic car, I've averaged 1500-2000 miles a year since taking ownership and In October 2020 I joined some local Rx-7 buddies and took it from Tampa Bay area to Deals Gap for a nice vacation/road trip destination. All of our cars including the my GTU ran absolutely awesome and I managed to put 2000 miles on the car in a week long period... That's more than I usually do in a YEAR!
Now to the good stuff... In early Dec 2020 I made the decision to Turbocharge my 6 Port 70,000 Mile engine. I will be documenting that portion of the build moving forward and it will give me a chance to look back at all the changes to come.

I TECHNICALLY started this build January 8th 2021 by pulling the engine to swap front covers (for oil drain) and cleanup, and will be documenting beginning Jan 8 2021.

The decision to Turbo charge (6 port Turbo) this 75,000 Mile engine has begun. Will be going Haltech 1500 Elite with Flex fuel support and building the entire fuel system to allow for e-85 flow rates.
First order of business is to yank the engine and prepare/clean the engine and swap over an S5 Turbo II front cover for proper oil drainage.
