White 79

Alright! I just got my 3rd RX-7 and I think I got this car type figured out.

I forgot to take an under-hood shot, but this car has SUPER potential.

Rats nest yada yada yada... everything is their. Except the thermal reactor and the rest of the oem exhaust.

The goal here is perfection. This is the first time I've ever owned a car with the intention of never really driving the crap out of it. (at least not yet anyway).

Well, tomorrow I'm gonna drop a battery in it to see if the old 12A will crank at all. EEEE I can't wait

NICE! Where did you pick that up from? I see it has the rear window wiper arm - you think that's original or did someone add that? Is it a right hand hood prop too? Gonna keep it stock?

I'm interested to see you work on this and see how it looks. Would love to see the pics under the hood. I hope you don't have as much rust on yours as I have on mine.

Good luck! I'll be watching.

Wow.... looking at ya'lls avitars I feel like I should make mine a front left quater veiw of the white SA.

This piece came from TN for $400. Pretty sure the rear window was added on. The bolts holding it on to the car were anything but stock. Its an "early" SA. Vin is a few numbers higher than my current DD.

IT RUNS!!! I'm freaking amazed.

VERY little rust at all. Thats why I got it. Obiously there is some, but this car is gonna be my super long term project. I'm turning my blue collar white soon and I'll have a garage and a biggerish paycheck to spend on parts.

Yup, I say 90% stock... there are some things I want to change or upgrade.

Upgrades:

-It already has LSD which I don't think was stock, but it might have been.
-The exhaust it has isn't stock, but I don't like the factory exhaust "thermal reactor" and the current exhaust sounds GRRREAT!

Down grades:

-I'm using my 2 spoke S model steering wheel.
-I'm using my steel wheels (the X's aren't stock anyway)

Then engine will be factory 12A with a Nikki, but possibly ported slightly if it needs a re-build.
Dunno if it needs a rebuild yet, but it does run.

lol yeah you should do a left front fender shot, its a must for white sa owners.
the lsd and rear wiper are added on and not stock, the lsd is an awesome bonus.
what are your steel wheels?
actually ive found the 2 spoke steering wheel a lot harder to find, the 4 spokes are everywhere.

haha they are far from their last journey. I might wrap my Hoosiers on them for the red car. I don't like the waffles. I perffer steel x wheels, but alloy x wheels are my second fav.

I'm going to test the water at 2500 for the gold one, but I'm not married to that price. I'm about to make a video of the starting capabilities and of the whole car so prospective buyers can see. For warning when I sell the gold car it won't have some of the light fixtures, the dash, or the little cups for the tag lights (I'm robbing them for this car)

OH and I forgot to mention the best part about the white SA... it has REAR SEATS!!!! Thats so cool cause I want to procreate some day and I don't want to have to buy a non-rx7 car.

nnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo leave the white car white lol just messing with you
ok though I do like the steel wheels, even more if they are painted silver with trim rings and the right center cars. I would love to find a set of those wheels myself as an extra set for my car.

Alrighty... Here are some better pics:

This is the HORRIBLE dash. I don't think I'm gonna need to unbolt it; I'll just stare at it real hard and it will crumble.

BUT I've got a crapton behind the rear wheels and on the driver's side rocker panel. And some more on the sunroof.

And here is under the hood. I was about 5 mins away from just stopping work on the red FB and slapping my good nikki on and going for a spin

I didn't do anything to this car today I was pre-occupied with the Red FB (which is coming along nicely), but I figured some better before pics where in order.

Throw the cold start assist crap in the trash. Its a joke. It uses coolant BTW at a higher ratio than the radiator. What are your plans? Im pretty positive it was an autocross car in its past life.

I know its a joke. I love it. I'm keeping it and making it work.

I heard it was an auto crosser. I'm gonna DD it when its all said and done. Just don't know when that will happen. But when it does the FB takes a rest.

Do you know why it was "put to pasture"?

I can't wait anymore, I'm slapping my extra Nikki on it tomorrow and throwing some brake fluid at it.... I might be able to take it for a quick spin around my buddies' yard.

A guy named Justice owned it for a few years, then sold it to a guy name Jason who had it for a couple years, then he sold it to Chad. Justice drove it, and Jason used it as a driveway ornament.

That's about the same kind of history I have with my 79. I found a surprise in mine yesterday that I'll share on my thread later this evening or tomorrow that no one in my family knew about I'm sure. Anyway, you're gonna have a great time really getting to know your new toy and when you're done, history will only matter so much because you'll know every square inch of it.

Can't wait to see your progress and see how it compares. It looks very familiar!

Dunno, I was too busy messing with my red FB. I've REALLY gotta get it running before my vacation time/finals.

After my sucsess making keys for my red FB I have been on the key making trip recently. I took an original SA key from a yellow 79 in the junk yard and cut that key to match the OE one.

So now I have two "mazda keys" for my car

EDIT: The new key will probably work, but if you see or have a 3989 Mazda key I'll buy it.
