i wish i could still get those flares. i sent them an email a couple months ago and they told me they are no longer available due to low volume and starting to run into quality problems with there manufacturer.

Any idea if there's anybody else that has those flares for sale?

Awesome project man, its got me drooling all over my laptop

What's the difference between the MFR rotor housings and other engine components over the stock parts that were on the cars sold to the public? Are they more light weight or are they different by the size of some of the openings?

Also if you don't mind can you post pictures? ^_^

Well, Mazda made the Rx7 with a race program to promote the new car. The MFR parts were made lighter, robust and suited to race conditions. Basically, the only parts used from the standard road car, would be the steering arms.

Anyhow, here a pic between twin dizzy, standard and MFR housings.

https://imageshack.us/a/img846/6099/taillightsin.jpg
New brake booster and clutch master, aswell a new bonnet latch.
https://imageshack.us/a/img204/6429/enginebayf.jpg

j9fd3s 09-25-12 11:38 AM

such a sexy beast! are you going to attempt to do the original style seat? i've been lucky to be able to actually SEE the real car in person 1-2 times a year for the past decade, and its got some sparco or something in it now, but it originally had a modified stock seat

lloyd12a 09-25-12 08:47 PM

Here's a pic of the race seat. This was the closed fabric I could find, close to the factory cloth.

Black and Blue RX 09-27-12 07:08 AM

Saweeeet!

Keep 'm comin'!

dream36realms 09-27-12 08:09 AM

I figured I would add my project ideas here since I mentioned them a few times. Everyone in the 1st gen world loves this particular car. I have the 1:43 die cast sitting 3" from my keyboard right now as an example. With mine, I am doing a dark blue base paint (lotus color) while utilizing the stripes from this car but instead of the two greens, I will use black and dark gray. However I can not get the big flares you have to do the car. Currently I have Ronin Flares on the car with the factory paint and striping from the dealer. Once I have the money saved up, I will be buying the mariah GTO WB kit and then paintin it.

I like your car, I love the work and major cuddos for getting it done right.

lloyd12a 10-08-12 05:47 AM

Thanks for the kind words...

Did manage to put a few other bits and pieces on over the weekend, while bathurst 1000 race telecast was on.
New door handles
https://imageshack.us/a/img21/2686/doorhandles.jpg
https://imageshack.us/a/img513/8316/doorhandleq.jpg
New door seals, inner and outer weatherstrips. Best to install the inner one first.
https://imageshack.us/a/img525/8137/newdoorseals.jpg
https://imageshack.us/a/img841/2842/...therstrips.jpg
Mounted the pedal box aswell and cables
https://imageshack.us/a/img525/1672/pedalbox.jpg
This is a series 2 pedal box, as i can't find the genuine clutch bracket, for the larger MFR brake booster could fit. Just cut the clutch mount on the fire wall and move it over 20mm.

j9fd3s 10-08-12 06:17 PM

yours is gonna be nicer than the original.

SPiN Racing 10-10-12 09:17 AM

Got them from Mazda, but understand that was the last of one side at the time. I think the left side is still available.

myfree7 03-25-13 12:01 AM

neeeeed updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lloyd12a 04-02-13 01:07 AM

Sorry Guys, the motor will be put together very soon. Been chasing some bits, I can't find anywhere, a new Oil Pump sproket and new front cover smaller bolts (38mm). As this motor will be full of new parts, bar the MFR 12a Housing & MFR Side plates, there second hand. Keeping the New housings for the next motor, in which I'll build it with the MFR Dry Sump set up.

I've put together the bumpers, with new bumper rubber strips and indicator lens.
