Looking awesome, what happened with the other setup?
Are you going to still be using a factory hood? It looks like the elbow on the throttle body may cause an issue with it sitting pretty high? Very cool example of how to make one of these cars go REALLY fast! Where are you buying the E&J parts through? Looks like they have some very impressive parts that I wouldn't mind looking at. |
looking sweeet! when will you tune it?
|
Straight up sickness. Can't wait to see that monster launching off the line :D
|
Awesome build.
What causes the idle to lope like that? I'd never expect to hear a rotary doing that; sounds like a V-twin! |

Correct on the engine height, I didn’t realize how much higher the 3rd gen intake sits than the 2nd gen intake. So, I’ll need to do something about the hood. I’ll need some sort of hood scoop added. Got any suggestions? Not too worried about it right now, I don’t have a problem with driving it around town without a hood. I buy all my E&J parts from www.eastcoastparts.com |
Cowl induction, TII, Hemi style scoops, there are a ton of choices.
The cowl will give the car a muscley look, while the TII will hint at the turbo inside. There is the Caprice scoops, they are wide and flat and should clear the elbow barely. Some Chrysler scoops: http://www.campbellenterprises.com/i.../hoodscoop.jpg Late model Subaru: http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezwe...cd_gallery.jpg A few examples. |
looking sicc as always
the cowl or TII scoop might be your best bet |
Thanks!

What rims are those? 4x110?

Awesome car btw. What kind of $ you got into this? Front rims? Pretty sure they are 4x4.5....it's got the gslse suspension up front. Money? Too much... |
Clearly too much, but then the first time you launch you won't be thinking that. Looks and sounds great. Awesome work.
|
I was there when the first motor died....
Hope you have better luck on this one! |
What are / were the 3 holes in the firewall part of? Part of a cold air intake?

When people see my 1st gen for the first time, they first thing they say is “I like your FD a lot better, but this is cool too”. That’s kind of disheartening, but whatever… |

Thanks for the compliments. I'm pretty happy with what I've achieved by myself :) |
did you take into account tire growth when you tubbed the car. It looks like they might rub pretty bad once you get above 100mph because as im sure you know those tires will grow on you.

FYI; Mickey Thompson states that their radial tires have zero growth. |
Oh wow sweet. I didn't know the new Mickey's didn't grow. I've got some really old ones(1999ish), and I know mine grow.
|
Any chance you can elaborate on your ignition setup? I'm looking to get new ignition to go with the spring rebuild and am currently shopping around. I'm on their website now and see that they are an Aussie company. Did you get your parts shipped from there or are they available in North America? Do you know if the wiring is similar to an MSD 6A or was it more or less work to get it set up?
Thanks Chris |

I like that I can drop a wrench on the fender and not worry about the finish (unlike with my old FD). I was always worried about the car getting scratched, and cracking the widebody. They’re completely different animals, so it’s hard to say.

That’s kind of disheartening, but whatever… yeah as sad as that is us FB owners hear this alot too....i find it sad people who know RX-7's don't give the FB more respect considering that without it there would be NO FD! like you said "whatever" as long as you love it is all that matters.... |
I think I just jizzed in my pants. :icon_tup:
What a beast! |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCN3408.jpg Nice work on the car when are you going to take it to the dyno??? |
Whats with the 100* exhaust bend? Should have kept it simple and just gone right out the fender :D
Looks good man, cant wait to see some vids of it on the track |
It's 5" exhaust, so the degree of bend isn't gonna matter much :)
Hoping to get dyno'd late December/Early January. |
jezus!
|
i think you should just run without a hood!
|
Are you selling her??? Thought I saw where you were selling it...
