My 83 e-85/bridgeport/nitrous Build
so i have huge rotary guys near me, but id rather lurk on the forums and ask questions because im the only 12a action going on.
So, my build will consist of, bridge port, direct port nitrous, and going the racing beat carb upgrade kit + MSD everything. Currently i have stage 1 exedy clutch tokico blue shocks/rb springs custom exhaust/pace setter header Now what kind of whp can i expect without the nitrous setup on it + tune., im still going to put it on but im just curious what to expect, im coming from a 09 speed 3 so i come from a diff world, but ive been lurking around and learning on here and from my friends. any tips are welcomed! https://i648.photobucket.com/albums/...48d79283_b.jpg https://i648.photobucket.com/albums/...7748c6f6_b.jpg https://i648.photobucket.com/albums/...5bf22184_b.jpg |

thanks, i am enjoying it very much as well! |
so you said youre porting it, and im assuming its a 12a from what you said in the inital post. where do you find porting templates for the 12a? im hoping to do a bridgeport myself eventually

RX7 1975-1985: Engine - Porting Tools: Porting Template - Bridge Intake Port 12A & 13B -
this is the template I used, I'm sure they are other ones out there too |

My suggestion: If you're not going with a turbo, don't waste your time with the E85. Your motor isn't high enough compression to take advantage of the E85. Combine that with it's lower energy density (~75k btu/gallon for E85 vs. 110k btu/gallon for Gasoline) and you stand to loose a LOT of power.
Otherwise, clean ass car. G'luck with the build. |

**08-28-2012*** update. Slowly but surely gathering parts together.
3 point harness bar MSD ingition Custom 12a Turbo manifold. me and @driftingmyfc are trying to get my mazda 3 back up and running so the 7 can say hewo to the boost/nitrous gods. |
anybody know what people run on weber sidedraft for ic setups? like to connect from ic to carb?
|
quick question, does anybody know if the oil pan is aluminum or steel? im going to order a weld drain fitting if steel, and a bulkhead if aluminum
|
The oil pan is steel, but I wouldn't recommend putting your turbo oil return there. The oil in the pan sits very high and would impeed proper drainage. I would drill and tap the side of the front cover and route the turbo oil drain there. Just in the same location as the 13B TII.

retrofitted my rally armor mud flaps on 7, looks great, also installed a town and country 2 speed electric fan on the 7, going to do logs tonight and compare to how my belt driven one did. installed water temp and oil pressure guage, installed sandwhich plate, for turbo feed, and guages. finishing harness bar fitment. installed flex innovation grounding kit. relocated battery to the rear basket.
Solid motor mounts are in as well. almost ready to throw the turbo kit on her, just updating her meow. Attachment 690316 Attachment 690317 Attachment 690318 Attachment 690319 Attachment 690320 |

do you have more info on how you did your 12a? i have a manifold and all. I HAVE A QUESTION got a fc oil cooler and ordered my own -an steel/fittings, is there anway to make the FC oil cooler work NOT USING THE RB 10MM/16MM FITTINGS? |

From my experience using the stainless braided hose requires some sort of adapter for the threads of the oil cooler and engine block. AN fittings will not just thread into either without you somehow converting the threads to the correct size/pitch. There is always the stock FC hose and banjo bolts method.... |
