thunderhill. we had perfect weather yesterday, mid 60's and sunny with a breeze

mazdaverx713b 02-08-11 05:35 AM

man, those track pics make me incredibly jealous...we still have over a foot of snow here on the ground and my 7 is buried in the snow pile..

damn, j9fd3s ... your car is amazing. somehow i managed to go all this time without ever seeing this thread, but it's a great little setup - and don't kid yourself, it's invokes just as much envy and admiration as those big, picture-laden build threads out there. :)

by the way, how have the Thrush glasspacks held up?

they did the street tuning fine, but in 2 laps the header went from nicely painted to white, and then after 9 laps the paint is burned off of the glasspacks too.

the car is louder now for sure.

and due to the radiator being bad, this is shifting @6000-6500.

i have a short list of stuff that it needs, but i'm happy.

I would love a 12a PP someday also.

Damn!!! Forget having a exspensive paint job!

It's all about the prep work! I know a excellent painter who says laying paint is EASY. Just need good prep work and the paint will look amazing.

Car looks great :)

mine isn't even prepped well! the black comes off and the blue underneath is unsanded!

since my friend who built the car is moving, i might get some "before" pics. before it was black that is

Haha. Well It still looks great .

I'd love to see them. Surprised its held up 12 years. Don't look like its really fading..? Looks smooth with no orange peel effect either..

so are we! even the guy that built it (and took it to the paint place) is surprised its lasted as long as it has.

i don't to ANYTHING either, it gets waxed right before sevenstock, but its gone some years without being washed first....

totally off topic, but meet Peepers the cat. She approves of that car.

2012 update!

pics to follow, but i cut the front of the roll cage out, so now i can have a head AND be in the car!

i've also pulled the intake and exhaust to measure them and i'm going to clean up a couple of places where it could be a better match.

the intake is 165mm just like the competition book, and with the weber on it, its about 375mm just like the late 13G engines. the intake runners are 42mm, port runners are 43mm, so its just right.

the exhaust was different, the RB header is 43mm, and a sleeveless 12A exhaust port is 47mm, so i spent some time with the grinder and now it matches much better!

track day coming up next week, 30% chance of rain, so there is a 70% chance i'll go

kurtf 01-31-12 10:38 PM

no worries...if it rains I'll be happy to drive it for you!

I want to see this car in person.
