On the 12A vs 13B debate. Charlie Clark - KC Raceware - had examples of both from Jesse Prather. The 12A was competitive until the choke rules were changed from 40 to 42mm for carb'd engines. The 12A they had could not benefit from increase in choke size but the 13B could. To the extent that it made no sense to run a 12A anymore from their perspective. Charlie actually put in a request to move the 12A first gen from EP to FP but that was turned down.

In the preliminary Fastrack for Feb there was a request for 12A irons + 13B housings that was disallowed. This is a legal engine combination in STU however.

Hum; I wasn't sure about that given I recall seeing Downey asking for 44mm chokes at one point over the last year. Oh well. I have old SDJ ported 12A irons I'm thinking of recycling into a 13B at some point anyway, which should be fun.

Well there are a number of variables here. Perhaps Downey has a porting combination that works better than what Prather had developed at that time for the 12A. Downey has certainly been a front runner with that combination for a number of years.

Yeah. One of those things where I'm never sure what to make of probuilt engines - Prather has a good reputation for a lot of things but I feel like Downey's combination is faster, whatever he's doing. It's all very secret squirrel of course. ;)

I know the guy who ported his irons, just sayin. It's all kosher.

I really do like how Prather's bodywork goes as opposed to the Mariah setup. That deliberate gap the Mariah setup has between the bumper and the nose just bugs me.

But for the GT3 build I think I may just do my own. Last prod car my dad and I build was definitely Mariah bodywork since it's so easy to find someone with molds.

Haven’t done much with the car since last year. Installed the KC Raceware front hub kit. Here is the comparison between the stock GSL big bearing setup and KC kit with SE calipers.

Here it is installed. I kept the 110 bolt pattern so the I can swap btwn my ITA car and the EPcar. I have used them on three race weekends now. I won’t say the braking is ten 10x better, but was noticeable enough that I had to adjust more bias to rear. But pad and rotor wear is nothing.

One of the race weekends mentioned above was at Portland International Raceway. Austin Bradshaw put together a Rotary Reunion as part of the Cascade Sportscar Club race weekend. This was the first ever event and was really fun to have a rotary only run group. There was also a car corral for non racers. I fully expect this event to grow each year. Do the KC Raceware hubs use the stock bearing sizes? Just curious.

Yep, SE bearings and races. Both come with the kit with races installed.

i like this build. i hoard parts like anybody else around here, but i must say, "buying and holding on to" a E-Prod SA chassis for 8 years is about as gangster as it probably gets. i want to be you when i grow up (or come back for the next life) - whichever comes first. :)

my first questions are about your radiator. i just want some context ... how long is your typical race, and where are your temps at prolonged WOT?

i am lucky enough to own a business with a warehouse that allows me to store cars, motors, trannies etc like this.

i have to be honest, not sure what the peak temp is at WOT, but water and oil are well below 200 deg. As comparison, my ITA car sees temp for both 210+ using stock sized rad. I haven’t run in high ambient temps yet, last race was in low eighties. The larger rad must be helping the oil work less as both cars have the same OEM cooler. Races are usually 25-35 min long.

Kenko, my goal for next year is to participate in the Runoffs at Road America, so hope to see your car done and at the track.

Ha, I just had a daughter, EProd car is a few years off. I'll be there to spectate though.

kurtf, what about Indy in 2021? That is my target....again.....that place owes me more track time. My shop mates are trying to talk me into Road America in 2020 too but I think I will be testing aero stuff that year.

Hey Scott, Good to hear from you.

I'm not sure how I'll even manage RA, whether I rent a space on a large rig or try to tow out on my own. Also not sure what the budget will be and if I can afford a similar trip two years in a row. Road America and COTA are bucket list tracks more for me that I believe are in range.

Indy would be great, especially if the turnout is similar to 2017.

As far as next year goes, run what you have!
