OK heres how she looks right now
http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/...7/DSC00432.jpg http://i1008.photobucket.com/albums/...7/DSC00434.jpg Right now all we have for exhaust is a down pipe, the arf guage is acting quite irratic, could it get affected by wind being that it is fairly close to the end of the dp? It has been pretty windy here the last couple of days and I noticed the wind will make the guage react without the motor running. |
man .. that brings back memories

Thanks 81, I figured it was being a little too irratic jumping from high 12's to mid 14's and every now and they even higher

But this week was just putting the interior together, running wires and hunting down bolts and clips. |
OK update, new brake calipers came in yesterday going to get those on in the next couple days. Also went and got a couple feet of exhaust pipe so we could check afrs more accuratly. It idles at around 11.5 afr. Which sounds good to me.
Now how do I go about checking the rest of the rpms for afr's without possibly popping the motor? |
I idle at about 12.0, doesn't like much leaner. I his low 11's to high 10's at full power. Cruise at around 13-13.4 but it responds to 12's in an instant.

^^^that's good^^^cheap insurance....http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=Cool150

So we are looking at buying new brake pads, the car has disc rear, what is a real good pad to go with? the front rotors are drilled but not slotted
|
Hawk pads work well, but i would see who has something in stock that will ship promptly, perhaps respeed.
Might want to order some winter tires for the test drive if you don't finish soon |
awesom build! good luck 12a suck to turbo but it's so worth it in the end when it pulls hard! how many psi are you planning to run?
|
Ok new brakes all around and she was ready for a ride!
This little turbo really wakes this motor up, pulled hard in every gear. Afr's seemed good hitting 10 on full throttle 13's on cruise and 11's on idle. The tach stopped working but it would hit the 7500 rpm rev limiters on the msd's pretty quickly. Still gotta get a boost guage too.ost I will pome vids when I get a chance |
try not to bounts of the rev limiter to much.....12a Stationary Gears dont like it...
|
ditto, glad to hear its up and running. Some video would be great!
|
Advice taken.
Really gotta figure out why the tach stopped working, it flinches and kinda moves |
wat kind on exaust and intake manifolds do u have? where did u get them? im starting my turbo build next week! :D super excited
|
I picked up the complete kit from another member here on the for sale forum, you will have to keep your eyes open for another used kit.

Picked up a set of 15" rotas from a club member. Should be here at the end of this week. Gonna order some Yokohama advans probably in the new year for them. Goodbye + rims. John smack, buy my tires. You need them for your rx-4. They're 205/65/13
|
Oh, also picked up a 3" turbo muffler. Will get an exhaust system built some day. Also waiting on an oil pan gasket so I can re seal it. Gotta build an omp block off plate too.
|
Nice work.
I am starting to install a BAE turbo. Do you have an oil cooler tucked under the radiator? The radiator looks great. I am originally from Nanaimo B.C. Your thread has replies from Montreal, Calgary....work it :) Lots of cold places.....very cold...... very very cold.... |
