Awesome job man! You are bringing your dream to life and thank you for sharing it with us.

Pics swirling the web already. Dahm!

Amazing project. Can't wait for this kill some GTR-s out there! And I fully support you using the FD's chassis for this project.
Was there any clearence issues with the front differential shaft going to the gearbox? Considering it sits really close to the exhaust manifold? In the reveal video on your youtube channel I didn't see you guys fit the shaft to the diff yet |
Got so much to share now that I can finally share everything. I wanted to keep quiet so people wouldn't crush me with unrealistic expectations from someone building a car without a race team etc. I will share much of my technical details and insanity. I have always been someone who enjoys sharing what I know. If someone takes my design and improves upon it, I would be honored. Had 3 major show stopping issues. I'll explain more soon

It looks great... I've been squinting at instagram trying to gleam details!!
I'll wait patiently for a huge update. |

Come on Rob... Get to it... we want to know lol |
Now that the initial fan fare has died down, we are already back to the garage working on the project. Did not expect that large of a response to a non running car.
I will be updating the project build as i go now that the loosely kept secret is officially out. Just trying to live up to the hype and set some records. I shared my proof of concept with the world at SEMA and it got the attention of Mazda and others. While the suspension is based off the Hoonicorn, thats where the similarities end. I adjusted the cantilever suspension with the guidance of JRI and Abel built an insane chassis that i think blows away the square tube frame found on the Hoonicorn. What do you guys think of my approach? Definitely makes it more clear why im attacking half mile numbers first. |
Well the AWD makes sense if you seriously wanted to be able to put down the power. It will be interesting to see how a short wheelbase will deal with 200+ mph speeds. You will be competing with other AWD monster platforms. I am assuming that this much effort put into making it go fast will also be setting this car up with the potential for a lot more Caster than you would usually be able to obtain with an FD. You will need it to keep that car going straight at those speeds and with AWD adding in things like torque steer etc.
Looks like you have the right people and it will be purpose built for sure. I'm sure the Aero will be impressive as well. You impressed folks because you came out the gate downplaying it. Good on you for being able to hold it all in knowing there was much more to the build. Most cars don't scare me but I think this one is a car I would rather see someone else push to its limits. If you plan to drive it yourself do you mind if I take out a life insurance policy on you? Good luck with the project. I think we are all very impressed with this. This may just cement you in to Rotary Lore forever. |
quaife and others offer front LSD's for R33.... just saying :)
|
man I didn't see the AWD coming! I think it's a great idea. You're basically decupling the stock hp numbers for the chassis while other top V10 guys are just tripling or quadrupling them. There will be some challenges, and I hope your team can overcome them. I hope you beat some V10T and some V12T's at half mile. What we really hope is that you WIN, not just compete  I will be there when you do. Best of luck.

Like I said on the Youtube video, Bro you nailed it! All the weight is in between the axles with low center of gravity and now you have a way to put all that power down. All this while coming in at about 1,000lbs lighter than a GT-R. Insane!
|
The level of chassis customization surprised me as well.... especially the AWD. I was really glad to see the car.... the visuals are great to this chassis. Smooth like the original with great likes, and the dark satin finish has just enough evil to it (Don't F it up with a bunch of stickers!).

Rob,
I heard through the grapevine that this might make an appearance at a SCAR event when it's done? :giddy: |

My feelings about what I've seen so far of this build:

SEMA was overwhelming. Far beyond the expected response. We did a media impact report and as you can imagine it was in the millions of impressions. Building the car to break real records gets the attention of companies beyond my realm of expertise. But that was my goal. Build something insane, but with purpose. The only downside is my initial rough estimates are about half of what it will currently take to finish the project. Ive funded the vast majority of it myself, but i would be foolish pass up cross promotion. My close friends and most of the people online suggest not selling the 3 rotor to help fund the 4 in the mean time. It was part of my original plan, but i made it through sema over budget and without selling it. I have a couple massive announcements, but while they are badass, im just interested in finishing the build properly without compromise. |

hahaha im really bad at that. But this time its not exactly my hangup. I caught the attention of some big names and ive been in talks with a variety of organizations. The build videos/content is part of the conversation.

I'm showcasing my technical abilities with the FB to the point of obsession. A lot has changed, mostly for the better. Just stay true to yourself. You're facing one hell of an obstacle, keep your head up. As far as the chassis design goes, I can show you comparisons from an old company (comparing various chassis design types - square tube, multi-round tube, large round tube) and pretty much agree with you on the Hoonicorn. That's one area where they cut time/cost. Sure as hell a lot easier to make them and inspect damages on a square tube when your driver stuffs it into a wall (inevitable). |
