My pockets got hit hard this week with a trip to the go faster goodies shop that is murray motorsports. I bit the bullet and purchased a full pedal Box set up from OBP. I had to return the floor mounted pedals and am waiting on a top mount set up to arrive due to the dam tiny cockpit Mazda created.

First pedal box and some Smaco piping for the radiator.

Piping fitted. I have to wait for a few more bits and pieces to arrive in before the cooling system is finished. Also got the oil cooler lines finished although the return line is a little on the long side so will have to shorten that.

Pedal box number 2 + complete hardware.

Sideways lever and rear to front lines finished and mounted.

I still have to pick up a pack of P clips to mount the s/s brake lines to the chassis. The top mounted pedal box will not arrive I was told for up to ten days so I can't do much more on the stoppers until then unfortunately.

Next up while I'm waiting for pedal box to arrive is get the cooling system finished and electric water pump fitted and then get the electrics in the car and all wired up and see if I can get this thing started.

Some more updates on the FD. Work has been slow lately as I've moved into a new workshop so cash got tied up.

I had spent a while moving the oil cooler around to differnt locations I was going to run it down in the stock location but the class that I will be racing in has plenty of bumping and rubbing. Proper racing style! In the end I ended up with the idea of running a v mount style rad/oil cooler keeping the cooler well out of harms way in the likely event that the front bumper gets pulled of during a race. I'm hoping that plenty of air will make its way through the oil cooler and I'll be cutting a vent for the used air to exit in the bonnet. I used tec 7 to seal up any gaps between the cooler and the ducting so no air will go to waste. Not the tidiest way about things but will do the job.

What's peoples opinions on this set up?

i think it will work well.. if you check out my build thread or the thread about using the FC oil cooler you can see my configuration.

im using the FC oil cooler in series with the stock oil cooler. the FC oil cooler sits behind the bumper nose (where the plate on the 99 spec usually goes, i have the plateless version) i cut openings like the RE bumper has and it gets enough air. i was on it this weekend doing some twisties on the mountain and my oil temps were steady 150. might be a little too cool but it definitely works. i think yours will outmatch my oil cooler set up so i think it will deffinitely be efficient

Looks like the cooler is the highest point. You might want to install a drain back valve otherwise every time you start the engine, you will need to pump up the cooler with oil before it returns to the block.

...just a thought.

Good point thanks. I will have the starter and ignition on different switches so will turn it over for a few seconds before I fire the ignition witch should solve that problem?

Picked up the new 40 litre safety fuel cell (foam filled). Nice piece of kit. that I'll be fitting to the original location of the spare wheel well.

Finally got the pedal box into the car. What a bitch of a job thanks to the tiny cockpit. Was a lot of hastle trying to get any box to fit in far enough forward but I'm pretty happy with where it sits now.

Remote resistors for the clutch/brakes fitted into the bay.

Most of the pieces to finish up the fuel system including Facet competition red pump to feed the swirl pot. 100 micron and 30 micron filter. Still waiting on a bosch 044 to arrive, billet pump holder and a few more fittings.

Got the engine bay side of the fuel system done Running out of room with all the braided line littered around the engine bay :-) phone went dead so only got two pics. I Y'd the fuel rail to try keep the pressure as even as possible across all 4 injectors.

Looking good. could you not have run the fuel line looped from one rail to the other and had one return line to the FPR?

Where did you get your pedal box from? Would mind putting one in my rx4. How much were they?

Could have but In my theory running the 2 rails in parralel should keep the fuel rail pressure more even across all 4 injectors. No idea if will make any different

I bought it from Murray Motorsport for Sparco, Alpinestars, Sabelt & OMP Motorsport Products - Murray Motorsport for the whole system (pedal box, 3 master cylinders,3 resivors, braided lines to each calliper, all fittings, hydro hand brake, bias adjuster and a few other little bits and bobs for I think it was 1200 euro inc vat.

Can anyone tell me how to edit my previous post so I can get the pictures back up? Car has come along way since I last posted. Cheers
